(VZW) Nexus 4.0.X Update Discussion

The "Clear Google Framework" trick worked for me. Downloading now.

Harrisburg, PA, stock, locked.

What is the "Clear Google Services" trick....step by step?

1. go to setting / apps then hit the all button at the top
2. scroll down to google services framework and then press it to open
3. hit the clear data button
4. go to settings / about phone / system updates (you will notice the date will be 1969 or 1970 this is ok )
5. hit the check now button
6. Nexus should show you the 4.0.4 update avaliable
7. hit install and enjoy

(I copied this off of xda forums...sue me)

Saw someone mention clearing data on Google Services Framework and trying to get the update. I checked for the update and nothing. Cleared framework and checked again and lookie what I got.

My phone is still losing 5% battery life for every 10 minutes the screen is on.

And, I am in Airplane Mode, only using WiFi.

Is this at all normal?

Will clearing the Google framework services data screw up anything on the phone? What data is it clearing? Just making sure I don't create a headache for myself just because I'm being impatient :)

Bazinga! Thanks!

I'm unable to download updates to apps via Google Play after the 4.0.4 update. Anyone else have this problem? Keep getting error 921. Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks.

If this trick doesn't work, immediately repeat the entire sequence. It will probably work the second time. At least it did for both my wife and me!

I did, not sure if it is because I have the .03 radios installed. May try to flash back and see what happens

Just recieved the update prompt. attempted to install and was greeted with an installation error -_-

Rooted and unlocked

Woke up this morning to see the update prompt. Pretty cool animation, btw. I'm running completely stock 4.0.2. As far as I can tell, all my passwords, apps, and data were available immediately after the update, unlike what I read about those doing the manual install. No re-install necessary at all. I'm glad I waited.

So at least there are a few of us that are getting the error while trying to install the o t a. It seems we are all rooted and unlock with the stock rom.

Did any of you get a request for location from google location services after the installation of the OTA?

What is that about?

So after rebooting, no one else gets the install starting bit them gets the red exclamation over the robot?

I was rooted and mostly stock. I had the .03 radios installed. I flashed back to the .02 radios, wiped data from Google Services Framework again and the update took right away. Yes, about the location services. Don't know why.

So i just unrooted the device but kept it unlocked. and it just now installed successfully. It seems it has something to do with CWM
