Root I've Partitioned My SD Card, Now What?

not sure what exactly has been offered as suggestions..because I have kids, and 40ish posts is a lot!!! Maybe try a file explorer? (es??) to check the system/etc/init.d folder for the a2sd script..i am sure it is there if you have been installing dta2sd a lot..but mikg has it built in, so maybe you cancelled it out?!?! haha...then try wiping the sd ext, uninstall that crap apps2sd app, then boot back up and reinstall the apps via tb and it should slam them straight to the sd ext.

have you tried repairing the ext in recovery?? maybe its broken,hence why the apps wont move and clear up your internal...also, did you upgrade ext 2 to 3?
 
It's downloading right now...
Now I need to figure out how to completely remove that apps2sd from my phone so that when I do a titanium back up it doesn't restore

Isn't that apps2sd app a regular app you downloaded? Can't you just un-install it? (menu/settings/applications/manage applications/downloaded) then scroll down to it and uninstall it?
Also I think you can un-install it from TB. Along with any backups of it in TB;)

Well when I did the backup right before all the wiping etc I removed the check mark from that app so that it didn't backup but Lo & behold there it was. I uninstalled with TB and will do another backup to make sure it's not in the next restore...I hope...lol.

the better way to do it is to just delete the titanium backup folder that is on your sd card. then make another tb backup. tb does not backup the apps and data the way you think. it keeps all of the apps on the card when you make a backup. the only way to get rid of a certain app is to physically remove it from the folder. so even if you delete it off of the phone, tb will not over write what is on the card. it will stay there.

Great...well..guess that's going to be for the next full wipe because I've just finished flashing the classic rom and I already did a TB backup...
 
Yay!!!! It worked!! I have 395MB free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I downloaded Angry Birds and it went down to 382MB...
What's next?
I'm thinking perhaps flash Mikg back and redownload all the apps one by one...
no wait...I can't do that because I need my contacts!
Hmm...should I open my SD card in my PC and search for the apps2sd?
That's even if I can view the file in my comp!

Open up titanium backup and you can scroll through the list and find the apps2SD app that is backed up. Simply tap it and click delete and it will delete the backup of the app.

A2SD is run when the phone boots. So that drop off when you installed angry birds is probably because it is still on internal storage. Reboot the phone and see where it ends up

It's not there...I already uninstalled it right before my last backup.
Should I restore TB now and see what type of internal memory I end up with?
(Edit: And obviously I can't restore system data right...only apps and data?)

I have a question, suppose I want to try another ROM...but obviously I want to have my contacts etc. When I flash the other ROM and do a restore, I should only restore data and apps right?

And next question, what other ROM you recommend?

yes only apps and its data is what you need to restore. system data will conflict with the new rom and you will have a phone that will not work properly. the only time is if it might work is if you are just updating the same rom or flashing a rom based off the old rom.

and as far as your contacts go, they should be linked to google so that when you flash a rom then you just sign in to google and your contacts should be synced to your phone.

you can remove deleted apps off of TB by doing menu>batch scroll all the way down to the bottom and in Delete Backups and you can choose to delete backups for uninstalled apps. You can also delete all backups.

I like Nitrous myself its very stable and fast.

Well guess what, the damn thing won't restore! It hangs!
I've tried all sort of things!

"28. It hangs (at 0%) when I try to restore, un-install, move or freeze applications. The free version was working. What can I do ?

Open the Titanium Backup settings and scroll down to the "Troubleshooting" section. Set the "Apps processing mode" to "AUTO, Indirect".

hmm...try to restore in smaller batches...maybe 4 or 5 at once.

Are you still on Tommys classic evo rom?
 
the only time i have had issue restoring certain apps is when an app that came with a previous rom (though it is not a system app). it just hangs like that.

Hmm...well that would explain why it's hanging now with THIS ROM while it didn't with the other ROM.

How did you overcome the hanging?
I mean, I can't really recall the apps that came with the other ROM!

I will try as Mike suggested and do small batches...maybe I can then tell which is hanging.

i just did not restore it. eventually deleted it from titanium all together.

No I'm saying how did you figure out WHICH of the app u shouldn't restore.

Hey at the list of restore apps I am seeing the ones all the way at the end are crossed out...I think those are my installed apps right?
Maybe I should try restoring those first and go from there!

The ones at the end crossed out are your uninstalled apps that perhaps have backups

those are the ones that have yet to be restored.

and i can see what app it gets stuck at because it shows which app it is restoring and what % it is on. if it shows 0% and it has been a few minutes, then i know.
