My account still shows that I am eligible for upgrade, but if I try to go through the process, it says that I have purchased a phone already. I pre-ordered through VZW so not sure when the BB orders get processed.

Thanks for checking. BB wont process the order until the phone arrives. I think I am gonna take my chances and hope they dont roll out the tiered data until after the S3.

Worst case I will preorder the S3 from VZW as soon as I hear about the tiered data going into effect.

Grrr I just typed out this long message but this forum blocked it, saying I was posting images but I wasn't!!! Now I have to re-type it :(

Now, to turn my 5 pargaph reply to a one cliff note paragraph:

I called VZW about getting a discount (I paid $250 for the 32gb white version online). He said there are no discounts, but I said my "friends" are getting discounts for upgrading from 3G to 4G phones. I said it was ranging from $80 to $150. He had no idea so he called internet sales. He got back to me and said they said there are no promotions for the SIII. He said those getting discounts are probably because of a credit on their account from something else or because they are on a huge corporate account.

So, what are the reps telling you as to why you guys are getting discounts? So far I see someone said they got a "phone freedom" discount and another because they haven't had a new phone in 2 years. What about everyone else? I told him I would call him back with more details. I want a discount to offset this stupid $30 upgrade fee. I'm on a Droid X and my contract has ended so I'm month-to-month. I've had this phone for at least 2 years now. So I would be eligible for your guys "phone freedom" contract and hell, even the free phone upgrade for having this phone so long. But again I called to no avail.

yay it finally let me post!

I got mine for free because I am on my original droid x so its over 2 years old without an upgrade. I am also on a business account( not sure if that means anything it never has before, if anything I think i got f**** more)

When was the last time you upgraded?

And what are these shipping dates for the month of June. My understanding is that phone will not ship until 2-3 days before the launch date of 7/9?

The business account might be the reason why. The VZW rep did say some of these people might be on corporate/business accounts, so that's why they are getting discounts.

Phew, I'm not sure when was the last time I upgraded. I had the original Incredible, then that broke, so Asurance sent me a Droid X since they didn't have the incredible (which was I think early 2011). So not sure if that's considered an "upgrade"

Ordered mine, got tired of waiting for the Incredible 4G LTE. But looks like I am the only person who had to pay full price, but that's fine. Fingers crossed they come before July 9th but somehow I doubt it.

That might be it right there, when you changed phones to the Droid X they may have used it as an upgrade. Are you sure they used insurance? Look at account online it will tell you last upgrade date or the date your next eligible.

I got my pre-order in at 7:04 am for a 32GB Blue. I just called and they said it would be shipped today. After I hung up, I said, " Sorry, but I don't believe you". Hope I'm wrong!!

Update: Got an email from Verizon saying they made a mistake, and it will ship july 9. Can Verizon do anything right?

Ya its not the reps fault its in the billing system as shipping today as seen for those of us that ordered online today. It says shipping date 06/06/12. I think its an error in the system. I dont think we will see the phone until the 9th. 21st at the soonest if they do a special preorder launch. But I highly doubt that. I am just happy I got to keep UNL and it cost me 32 bucks. I just hope this phone lasts me as long as my Droid X that phone has been great. I ordered a new battery to keep it as a back up.

I am paying full price too, but paid $30 for the BB buyback program. I got my Razr for $200, so working out a net positive of $120 to go towards the SG3 ($350 buy back - 200 for Razr and - 30 for buyback program).

Net result is a 32gb for $530 (BB price matches and 32gb is $650). Of course if I do the program now, it is a dimished return, since paying full price now. Kind of works out though, since no eBay to deal with and they pay about what I could sell it for, best case.

Kind of like leasing really, so handy for people that turn their phones in less than a year. No point in doing it though if keeping a phone past a year. SG3 may last as long as my Incredible did (18 months).

Placed an order for a 32GB Blue model this morning. Only had a $30 discount on my plan, but at least that offset the activation fee, and I got the subsidized pricing since I've been out of contract for a while now.

Had to do it over the phone as the online system wouldn't let me put in my work address for the shipping. I was a little hesitant at first as I was afraid the rep would screw up, but when I got the confirmation email everything looked fine. It's funny, while we were chatting the rep asked me what I liked best about the phone, and I told him it wasn't so much the phone as I wanted to make sure I got grandfathered into the unlimited data!

Anyway, coming from an original Droid Incredible to this should make for a nice upgrade, and I'm looking forward to getting the phone next month.

I'm considering a my next phone and like a lot about the SG3. I'm in an outlying area and don't have 4G coverage (probably won't have it for at least another year). Radios are quite important, and my DX has been very reliable.

I'm curious about impressions that new SG3 users might have relative to your past experience with Motorola DX reception.

I pre-ordered with our business rep. I was told phone will ship for 7/9 release. I didn't read through the thread since I am in road, but figured I would had the info.

FWIW, the number I called to get the free phone is 877.888.6499.

On another note: The VZW rep told me that in order to get the phone for free, I'd have to mail them my old phone. VZW will send me a pre-paid padded envelope and I have to send them my phone after I activate the new one. I'm OK with this because my old phone is a really worn, scuffed, scratched Droid X. But I'm leery about the company somehow getting my data, even after I wipe it. I think I might dunk it in water and dry it out before returning it, just to be on the safe side. Anyone else have to return their old phones?

i would be worried about them changing their mind once they see a phone that was dipped in water, that's just me though.

Are you on a single/family plan? I might call that number later.

You are safe as in your personal data. Just make sure to format your SD card as well as factory reset the device.

I would check back in a month. Verizon users won't have their devices until about then and the international community uses GSM radios (Verizon uses CDMA). So there won't be a comparison until VZW has it.

Do you have to give the SD card back? I just would wipe the phone and keeo the SD card. It is designed for personal storage.

I'm not sure of the terms of the exchange. If they do not require the SD card be returned with it (I doubt it would be), then no. But whenever returning any device, you should always verify the condition that you need to return it in.
