Best buy stopped stocking lg optimus

I wanted to keep my Ov for as long as possible, but 1 year and 2 months does it. I am really starting to get frustrated over its lack of speed and internal memory. Also, the fact that i have to constantly update my ROM and what not. Whereas the HTC evo v 4g has a blazing fast processor, lots of memory, a better camera and screen, and ICS. The 4g would just be a plus, and looking up some coverage maps of sprints 4g it seems like i would be covered. Anyways, thats my opinion and i think that come june I am upgrading.

By the way, you don't HAVE to update your rom. Find one that works good and leave it.
I am running BACKside 01182012, I've tried a few updates since then and keep going back to this one. Only problem I have with it is the notification swipe that sometimes locks up, but I have notification restart for that eventuality.

I gave up trying to sell my V, too many nuts on Craigslist, and now its not going to be worth anything. I think I will bury it in a time capsule.

I have good memories of my V, not so much of Virgin data speeds. Tried asking $45 for it on CL and lots of interest but no takers. Down to $40 now.

Yep, ebay is to full of them.
Mine was only $27.25 shipped
winning bid was $21.99

Good ESN and like new condition, only missing the 2GB memory card, which was fine with me.

Im gonna get a 2nd soon.

I've been giving it some thought. When my LG dies I will either choose the Elite or Evo. I agree with the poster about being frustrated with low phone storage space and constant updates.

Although I love my Optimus, I did love my Rumor 2 and didn't think I would like the Optimus, but upgraded anyway.

Hmmm.....

I tried looking as a backup in case I break my current Optimus V for exactly that price ($28). But I find that they still go for $45 - $55 range in ebay.

I really don't like 3D so the evo turns me off. The elite is a nicer ov to be sure but still has a 320x480 screen.

I'm patiently waiting for something with a 4" 800x480 screen, front camera, and hopefully dual core (but I would be ok with one core). Oh, and I refuse to buy anything with a locked boot loader or anything by Samsung.

If nothing comes out by the end of this year I'll have to choose between a different carrier or using a sprint/boost phone...

I can see how the lower end Samsung phones have a lot of people turned off, but I swear I would give anything to have that new Galaxy Nexus S3 coming out. That's a Samsung phone and one that a lot of people can't wait to get their hands on. One of the carriers getting it is Verizon, and my boyfriend wants it. So at the very least I'll be able to play with it when he gets it (and I'll probably end up getting talked into rooting/romming it).

That's probably the only line of Samsung phones I would gladly have.

The 3d function actually hurts my eyes, which I completely expected. No big deal, I just leave it off. It's only an option for pictures and video anyhow and I honestly didn't care about it.

I'm quite happy with it, even after coming from the Evo 4G. I was pleasantly surprised that it was nicer looking than the pictures make it out to be. I kind of thought it was chunky and gaudy looking, but in person it's better and feels very nice in the hand. The textured back is very luxurious feeling.

For what I want in a phone, the choices are a bit limited really... Similar size, decent processor, decent manufacturer, good quality, hopefully a community behind it, and it MUST have an sdcard slot, and preferably a removable battery. Add that it needs to be on Virgin and that list becomes VERY small.

Why am I so against Samsung?

They were the first to pay the Microsoft extortion fee.

They insist on using crappy proprietary kernel modules and filesystems (rfs and j4fs) in their phones. This makes custom kernels and ROMs much more complicated and difficult, both for the dev and for the user.

Their boot loader uses a proprietary filesystem to communicate parameters (eg. reboot recovery).

They don't have a standard root/recovery setup, instead they have a single partition that does double duty for both root and recovery. This means you have less space for both, and if you break it, you are forced to use their proprietary tool (odin) to flash a working one.

... and that's just off the top of my head. ;)

Soon as I score my 2nd one cheap, ill post a link and you can get them as cheap as I posted on ebay.

OK here is the seller, he relist phones as fast as they sell, and always has 20+ OVs up with a starting price of $19.99 for both rough and good shape clean ESN OVs.

There is always another about to end, so don't get all wrapped up in the bidding war. First OV from him I got on the first try for $21.99, the 2nd I got last night for $22.25 and it only took bidding on 3 phones as they ended.

Ok so I'm not so patient, lol... Picked up a used marquee on ebay for cheap and replaced my OV today. Much better upgrade than the elite. ;)

My local Radio Shack had them on sale yesterday for $59.99. Don't know if that is nationwide or still on.

Yep, nationwide. Thanks for the heads up. The closest Radio Shack to me was sold out so I had to venture to the mall. Picked one up for $60, promptly rooted it, and installed Mirage's CM7. The V has been a great phone but you can tell it's getting a bit dated at this point. My next upgrade will be to something that's running 4.0+ or at least can be updated to 4.0+.

wal mart also has them for 59.99

was there on my lunch break today and it seems they are trying to get rid of old inventory. pick up a few of em for back ups!
