I'm encouraged by the article but would like to know who their "source" is from Verizon. It's obvious they spoke to someone from Sprint, as a higher up there is quoted in the article. No such luck with Verizon, however.

I was thinking the same thing. Who from Verizon "confirmed" the one to two week release time?

The older style screens that were pressure sensitive needed to be locked in order to limit accidental cheek touches. The newer capacitive touch screens can tell the difference between a touch of the finger and the touch of a cheek. I think I've heard there is some type of proximity sensor that disables the screen when it is close to your face.

Good to hear. I've had my ear navigate to Airplane Mode (aka turn off the cellular radio mode) while I was in a call on my Touch. Half the time I get out of a call and find like 5 apps open.

This is highly speculative, gang, but seeing how both the Incredible and SuperSonic were developed for CDMA networks perhaps the braintrust at Verizon pulled an 11th hour switch and told HTC that they want the SuperSonic instead of the Incredible because they had to have the better of the two devices seeing how close together both would be released?

Given Verizon's much larger subscriber base HTC may have capitulated and thus we are now getting the SuperSonic, which will undoubtedly be marketed as the Incredible or some other monicker.

I don't think this is the case. Supersonic is only cool because it would be able to go on wimax, verizon doesn't have 4g at this point. Other than that I believe the incredible has either the same or better specs minus the 4.3 inch screen.

Also they would have to test it all over again and I doubt they would still be showing the incredible to employees at retail stores. Chances are the HTC guys got verizon and sprint confused because they are both cmda networks.

I don't think that Verizon would try to pull a switch like this so I don't think the SuperSonic is coming to Verizon. Unless we've had things screwed up for both phones from the beginning. But who knows this is definitely causing a little more confusion.

Alright, to add a bit more confusion:

HTC employer reports that Incredible will be 4.3 AMOLED inch screen (!!!), has a snapdragon (wouldn't confirm speed), 5 mp camera, more will be known on Apr. 1st, and that VZW contracts has the release set for Apr. 17th.

Sounds very Supersonic-ee but person did say Verizon so who knows. Perhaps the only real takeaway is the date...we'll see.

Also, where did you get this information? How relible is the employee?

I hope Verizon pulled a switch-a-roo!! 4.3 inch screen would be great, i would trade 8mp camera for a 5mp for the 4.3 inch screen.

Nope. 1) You wouldn't have seen a Verizon stamp on the back of the Incredible if they were s-canning the design. 2) Even if they pulled the 11th hour switch, then the testing period would reset and the phone would be delayed months (like through the summer). Somebody at HTC simply has their wires crossed with what Sprint and Verizon are getting.

I wouldn't trade AMOLED for LCD. There's no 4.3" AMOLED screens out there. Samsung's largest AMOLED is 3.7".

This looks cool....concept HTC phone

No way! Other than the bigger sized screen I think the Supersonic is a lesser phone. I think the screen is even supposed to be TFT too isn't it?

We all know that Verizon likes to keep a tight lip and HTC likes to leak some fake specs. We have all been chasing the Incredible instead of the Supersonic. Sounds like it worked for them. Also, keep in mind that the Droid Eris was called the Desire in Verizon's system before launch. I still think the supersonic could be possible. Just look at Verizon using a stealth fighter in the droid ads. The HD2 will not get an upgrade to winmo7 and I can't see HTC pushing out a ton of those phones and they probably have inventory on those screens. Most of us have been waiting since last year for a rumor phone and people knowing the HD2 will be out dated in 4months will not buy it. HTC could push the HD2 out at a steep discount price to unload inventory or put android on the phone and sale it at a premium price. Just me thinking outside of the box.

We might be getting two phones 3.7" with 8mp and a 4.3" with 5mp. This would give HTC a strong line up with phones including the Eris at 3.2". By strong line up I mean these phones reaching people who want a certain size screen.

There is No WAY the Incredible will be out by the 27th, every HTC phone that has been released thus far has been on HTC's website for some time before launch with detailed pics and specs...there is no mention of the HTC Incredible anywhere on HTC's site. This phone is either still in the testing phase or is finishing up with testing. I realize that the testers that were on this forum sent their test units back but they are just a few of possibly 100 testers (I don't know how many testers there are).

Same as the Supersonic...no mention of it either because it's known that it's still a few months from releasing. The HD2 will not be out until the 24th and there it is on their front page.

If I currently had a phone to tide me over I could possibly wait for the Incredible but I believe it will launch in May and I can't wait that long.

What Genius said this?:D

I've tried to sign up twice now for GoogleVoice but no reply yet. :(

Your better off finding an existing Google Voice person that has invites available then waiting on an invite directly from Google Voice. I waited 3 months before I found someone that would send me an invite.

Let's review. We have VZW testers as recently as this past week with INCREDIBLE handsets. We have photos dating back weeks if not months of INCREDIBLE handsets tied to VZW. We have photo size comparisons that clearly indicate the 3.7" screen. The ADR6300 has been repeatedly tied to the INCREDIBLE device, not Supersonic. The FCC filings. More photos. Testimony from eyewitnesses who have held and played with the Incredible.

All evidence points to VZW getting the Incredible.

There is currently NO evidence of VZW getting Supersonic.

That's not to say that it couldn't happen, but let's not get panicky. What we've heard from NKT, Stericson, and others is probably pretty solid. It's way to late in the game for such a quantum shift.

I hope the April 17th date is just their confusion. I don't think I can wait any longer for this phone! I'm about to burst at the seems here!

Also, I have two Google Voice invites. First 2 PMs get one! :D
