If the Supersonic is announced next week and no mention of the Incredible, I give up. I'll go buy a used Droid. What about about, what are you going to do if no announcement?

Don't know if I'll do the Hari Kari over a lack of an announcement. I may set April 17th as my cut off point and order a N1 if I'm allowed to order one with a subsidized price on a family plan. I already did the break down and order a Droid. The next day, pocketnow leaks pics of the Incredible.

If there isn't an Incredible coming out then I'll just continue using my Omnia. It doesn't do much but at least it doesn't call and text people on its own in the middle of the night. ;)

Supersonic or Incredible released at CTIA not both deal seams like it is freaking alot of people out. I could see Sprint having the N1 on there network at CTIA showing how it works with them since they don't want to be left out of the N1 crowd. Verizon I think got screwed by the whole N1 deal and where like hey we will release a phone that our customers can actually see and use before just buying it. I mean they where just trying to gain some press after AT&T N1 came out. Why yell we are getting the N1 too if you have a better phone announced little over a week later?

A phone that works on 3G and 4G and can use the features of both at the same time is the best that I can tell.
I think "convergence phone" may be an antiquated term since a quick google shows things like being able to handle more then one call or data and voice.

I wonder if the ""convergence phone" is the iPhone? I have read many articles that Apple was waiting for VZW to rollout LTE. Is Apple gonna be there next week?

I am beginning to think that VZW's only big annoucements next week will be about LTE and Skype.

Smartphones, 4G To Take Center Stage At Wireless Trade Show - WSJ.com

"Among the big announcements will be Sprint Nextel Corp.'s (S) unveiling of the Supersonic, the first U.S. phone compatible with a 4G network, according to people familiar with the matter. The Supersonic, made by Taiwanese vendor HTC Corp. (2498.TW), will run on a 4G network using WiMax technology, which Clearwire Corp. (CLWR) is building. Sprint Chief Executive Dan Hesse is expected to heavily push the benefits of 4G services.
The Supersonic will be one of many smartphones to be shown off at the show."

AND

"Verizon Wireless, meanwhile, will spend a lot of time talking about the unsexy, but necessary, parts of a network buildout, mainly the infrastructure and parts of the network known as backhaul, which connects cellular towers with the carriers central network. The company is expected to launch a Skype service at the show. The partnership, which enable subscribers to use Skype on their cell phones, was previously announced at Mobile World Congress last month.
"We're really viewing CTIA as a backdrop to talk about momentum behind our [next-generation] network," Verizon Wireless spokesman Jeffrey Nelson said. The carrier is jointly owned by Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and Vodafone Group PLC (VOD)."

Something to think about. Verizon has always stood behind the idea that its not about the phones, its about the network. They may not announce much of anything about any upcoming phones and focus on the strengths of their network and upcoming LTE rollout. That is what I am getting from their press releases today. I guess we will see next week.

does anyone remember hearing about the motorola mirage/shadow? specs look close to that of the illusive incredible and im thinkin that verizon should push incred asap with a possible launch of shadow in late june or july. some specs on shadow..

*9mm-thick handset with 1080p video recording and an HDMI output.
*4.3" Screen with 850 x 484 resolution
*8-megapixel camera
*Android OS

moto-shadow-12321009.jpg

I guess that means the shadow would = this:
OMAP3630 - 720 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)

Are things still on track for roughly a June release?

and supposedly the camera is alot better than the droid and even has on opening and closing shutter..

just wanted to ask all of you what would you do if incredible came out next to this you would purchaseee???? haha oh and all info came from hofo cause couple people there already testing this phone..

incase i forgot...incredible incredible incredible

I guess we'll "find out" soon... ;)

If you go to the Verizon>Smartphone>Android>Motorola/Mirage Shadow Thread at HowardForums, search for posts by 'bill23' you will get lots of info about that phone there.

Their Incredible coverage isn't as incredible as ours though.

i had one of my sources contact anonimac and he should have gave you guys the news... as for myself we did not get to see the phone.. but existence was confirmed by my source.. thats all i can really say

wha?? The SS and 4.3" screen was the news you passed on?

"Handset manufacturers, noting the exploding demand for smartphones, are expected to unveil several new devices."

Maybe something at least....

I'd be surprised if they weren't there. and I'm surprised as I dont see them on the exhibitor list. Though teh Verizon and HTC booths are only a couple of(CCI and Wireless one in between) booths apart with HTC America having the larger booth by far.

Well, 802.16e for the SS it is then. Anywho, back on topic to the Incredible, I want to believe VZW will be revealing our baby, but I can see a mile long list of pros and cons to both an immediate reveal and a later one....

Also, what are the odds that the Incred has an LTE radio installed but firmware disabled? I know VZW did this with the XV6900's GPS until they rolled out VZNav for it and then firmware re-enabled it....solely for use with VZNav....(rat b*stards. I've still never had the joys of GPS on a phone...)

EDIT: With all due respect, ladies and gents, can we nix the Moto Shadow talk? The SS, I can live with (as I see it to be the Incred's direct carrier competition). We don't need to confuse readers more with a 3rd phone's specs lol

i talked to anonimac last night and gave him my sources contact info and told him to get ahold of him tomorrow (this morning):o

he posted earlier hearing from an HTC rep who said the 17th as a launch date and it had a 4.3" screen and 5mp cam..

oh geez my eyes are

I don't post in the thread more than 2-3X a month. I'm just a thanker.(Period) Anonimaniac's, forgive the typo, confronting information which you say is only valid for a date I think is a tad bit obtuse. I'm not trying to come at you, This is just to make one point.. please that's all I wish do is make a point. You yourself have cited that the Incredible has been physically shown in pictures, and even videos with the verizon logo imprinted on it. I just want to remind you though, that one of the people operating this phone in the video was a Sprint employee. We are not Verizon, we are not HTC, they are keeping a tight lid on this for a reason, and we will not know unil hopefully ctia. I only know that the Nexus 1 will definitely be the Nexus 1. Nothing is concrete with the "Incredible." I'm just human making rational thoughts because I've witnessed specs change on this forum from 5 mp camera, to 8. then 1G of ram to 256 to 516 of ram. ..etc. For all we know it could be the supersonic, what was that douche's name? Radio something, he could have had better intel than we presumed, that sprint employee operating the "Incredible certainly is wierd, akward, and so is waiting for a phone from all the way back before Black Friday. I'm not even including irrational unrespected suggestions that were eluding that the "Incredible" will have a "Skype Video" .. HTC's Strategy, and Verizon's practices unfortunately are unkown for the most part.

Kcoan3, how trustworthy is your source? A change to a 4.3" screen doesn't make alot of sense right now? Could he have have gotten the Incredible and the SS confused?

Now I'm so thoroughly confused my head feels like a blender but the Margarita ain't coming out right.

I'm ready to just BOGO a Droid and go into AndroidForums rehab.

Yes please no more Shadow talk. It truly has nothing to do with the Incredible.
That being said even if Verizon disabled it via firmware, wouldn't a LTE radio have to have been tested as part of the FCC approval since the radio is on board? Its not like they can resubmit the same model again, least I dont think they can. I don't remember hearing about that.

I hear you. My head is all sorts of ****ed up right now. This is a puzzle with none of the pieces connecting.

Lets face it though. WE SAW A PHONE MARKED AS THE INCREDIBLE and it was confirmed by people who tested it that it was 3.7". I would think THAT PHONE is coming to VZW. Plus IT IS IN THEIR INVENTORY. Sorry, I'm just trying to get a grip before I do something drastic and stop at the new ATT store on my way home and hit up their grand opening sale and snag an iPhone :(

Touche'. You make a good point. Although...has anyone looked over the FCC close enough to notice if there is an unexplained radio listed? I mean, I assume it would have been noticed, but we've overlooked details like that before.

By "we," that sounds like you will be finding out and instantly passing it along to us....right? :D

On howardforums, their source "Bill" has been pumping this phone up for some time. It does sound like a beast. Is Motoblur comparable to sense or would that be a deal breaker?
