I'll tell you what would be Incredible... If the GOV'T actually sent me my refund check on time so I could use it to purchase the Incredible and some accessories

Just thought I'd post back with the results of the "big announcement" my buddy said everybody at his store was expecting today. It's... drum roll... NOTHING. Well, maybe that's not true, I don't know, but he's AWOL at the moment and out of state. So much for my inside line.

I don't have a line into the brains of the marketeers. Is it possible they may come up with a new snazzy name? Sure. But all the documentation I have access to lists the phone as the HTC Incredible ADR6300.

Here is the Eris in verizon system back in Sept. HTC Desire ADR6200. The name could change.

Eris
Eris, formal designation 136199 Eris, is the largest known dwarf planet in the Solar System and the ninth-largest body known to orbit the Sun directly. It is approximately 2,500 kilometres in diameter and 27% more massive than Pluto.[9][13]
Eris was first identified in January 2005 by a Palomar Observatory-based team led by Mike Brown, and its identity verified later that year. It is a trans-Neptunian object (TNO) native to a region of space beyond the Kuiper belt known as the scattered disc. Eris has one moon, Dysnomia; recent observations have found no evidence of further satellites. The current distance from the Sun is 96.7 AU,[11] roughly three times that of Pluto. With the exception of some comets the pair are the most distant known natural objects in the Solar System.[2]
Because Eris is larger than Pluto, its discoverers[14] and NASA initially described it as the Solar System’s tenth planet. This, along with the prospect of other similarly sized objects being discovered in the future, motivated the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to define the term planet for the first time. Under a then-new IAU definition approved on August 24, 2006, Eris is a "dwarf planet" along with Pluto, Ceres, Haumea and Makemake.[15]

ERIS -
ERIS was the goddess or spirit (daimona) of strife, discord, contention and rivalry. She was often represented specifically as the daimon of the strife of war, who haunted the battlefield and delighted in human bloodshed.

Okay, point being, if they change the name does anyone think HTC will keep with a greek mythology or planets/solar system?

Droid Zeus? Based on how cool this phone looks, that would be an apt name, although I don't think it sounds right.

Wow, um most people think they took the original name Desire, flipped it backward to Erised and dropped the -ed to mkae Eris. And then they were free to re-use the Desire name.

More and more, I'm thinkin this is the Eris II....

Wow...they need help in the creativity department :D

And they better not call this the eris. It's a boring name. "Hey baby, check out my incredible" = much better.

Incredible = Elbidercni = Elbide

So if we follow that train of thought to its logical conclusion, we get the...

...HTC Elbiderc?

Think my heart just skipped a beat.

Edit: Beat me to it, eipee. Go Pens!

Do we even think that they will keep the "Droid" prefix? I know that George Lucas would love it if they did, but really, is it needed anymore? Everyone knows what android is, so would the royalty payments be able to be justified to HTC and Verizon?
