Root Regaw Mod One Click Root

Hey guys, sorry I didn't see this thread sooner! I would have come in to provide support. I'm pretty ADHD, and checking multiple forums for stuff is pretty hard for me to handle haha. I usually have my xda usercp open with reload-every on, but I'll see about doing that here as well. I also just updated the rooter (yesterday?) which should fix some of the bugs, in case some of you can't get it to work still.

[ROOT] RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter | Updated 06.13.12 - xda-developers

Beautimous Regaw is in the house!! :D

Thank you so much dood for your work, seriously. It's folks like you who make the community what it is.

If you need anything when you're over here, don't hesitate to ask. We'll get it taken care of right quick!! :)

So last night I unlocked, re-rooted and installed this zip. Works flawlessly. Thanks!

Note: The easiest way to tell if it worked is after you reboot go to settings and there is one option for applications (green icon) and right below that is one called app association (black & white icon just like the green one). When you complete this modification that 2nd choice is no longer there. Best to take a look at that before you start so you can see what I'm talking about and then confirm it's gone after.

Got rooted with xda one click and drivers. Regaw's one click and drivers, phone wont connnect. Message comes up I have files to burn, insert cd.
Tried HTC unlock thing, phone won't connect there either.
I give up for today. Any ideas?

Make sure you use the drivers specifically listed in Regaw's root instructions. I had drivers from another post loaded, and they worked fine for detecting my phone to PC, but apparently they were incorrect for Regaw's root method. It wasn't until i loaded the drivers in his post and rebooted the phone, that it would actually connect correctly. After loading his drivers, device manager listed my phone as "Android 1.0", then the root program began working correctly. I did have to do it twice, as it error'd out when attempting to contact the HTC Unlock site...

Oh, and i'll add, i rooted successfully with the Linux/Mac/Windows root method at first, but it didn't use HTC Dev Unlock, and i needed that to load TWRP recovery. That's when i decided to try Regaw's root method, and had to then load the drivers in his post...

Dustwun, I couldn't get the Regaw method to work on my Laptop. The issue was I couldn't get the HTC drivers to load for me.

I tried that way one night for an hour or so and then in the morning I loaded the Microsoft and HTC drivers onto my Desktop. Doing that worked great for me and it flew right through.

Maybe try a different P.C.?

I saw that and tried. Am I doing something wrong? I ran his driver download file repeatedly. Showed up with an error in device manager though.
I'll try again later. Burnt out on it now. :)

How does that work? And do you have links? I knew you guys would have dome ideas!

I think I did in my ordeal. But ill start fresh when I try again .
Wonder how natrs method works too.

Kind of leery about using twrp after what one versions did to ocn's
Phone.

I was weary as well about using TWRP recovery, but it's worked ok for the little bit that i've used it so far. I did get an odd error trying to mount something when i restored a backup this evening, but it worked so i can't complain. I can shoot you the driver package i used when i rooted mine last week if it'll help, not sure if Regaw changed something between now and then. For his method, i was using a Win7 x86 PC.

I used WinXP and the HTC drivers from HTC Sync from last year, worked fine.

TWRP works here all the way around.

What revision of Windows is involved here?

I was on windows 7 64 bit laptop.

It is all good now. I had to fight like the dickens to get the driver installed. I am not sure what happened, exactly, I did so much stuff.

I uninstalled the drivers from the previous successful root process. dl'd and ran htc synch. never would connect to the phone.

I used regaw's original driver dl and tried extracting it with winzip 7 vs running it. It flashed up a folder name where it was putting it. I went back and uninstalled htc synch and some samsung drivers i had and updated the drivers manually. This time I had some win7 driver options versus vista 64 driver.

I rebooted and it took off and ran. going to get me into this recovery now and see if I can figure out how to make a nand!

Thanks, you guys, this thing was rolling me around in the dirt. :)

Oooh, this here TWRP recovery is purty! made a nand in 103 seconds!

yee haw, I am glad that is over with. I haven't felt right running around without a nand on this new phone... :p

I still have the original drivers zip file if it will help anyone else,
from Regaw's earlier download file:
HTC_Driver_64.zip

Thanks...

Got device yesterday and was rooted within minutes. One time, after the second reboot, phone did not come on after I hit "continue" and I had to put it back on myself.

Aside from that, easy as pie. I admit, seeing EarlyMon do it does give one courage, doesn't it? :D

when I first tried to run the regaw exe it told me I needed to install the drivers first even though I had already done it. It wasn't until I unplugged the phone, turned off usb debugging, rebooted my computer, then re-enabled usb debugging, and replugged in my phone to my PC that the drivers installed properly.

Speaking of nandroid backups, I don't know where is the best place to put this question, does TWRP allow you to rename your backups? and if so, what format is acceptable?

I am going to get confused as all get out, in short order, if I can't, cause I am a flashaholic... flashing a rom on the OG with my left hand and one on the EltEvo in my right~ :p
