Root [ROM] Nov-13 MeanROM ICS v6.3 | 2.13.651.1 | Mods | Batt saver | OC 1.7 Ghz

Thats no reason not to root :) . Just because you have root doesn't mean you have to flash custom ROMS.

For me getting rid of the 3 button menu bar and remapping recent apps to be a menu key was awesome. Having the full screen rocks.

So you can remap the recent apps to replace the middle button in the menu bar (that brings all your apps up)? Because that would be sweet.

No need for a camera icon when we have the camera button as well.

I could just have a phone, text, gmail and outlook mail icon in the very bottom.

Awesome. I may root tonight and try this ROM then. I can't deal with the poor reception. I had this issue with the OGEVO and rooting fixed it.

I'm running version 3 currently...

So far I like it. I am coming off the viper Rom which I really liked. I had absolutely no problems with it. is there a way to add different themes to this? I'm getting tired off the stock ics look, but love the performance.

You can replace the launcher.

But if I remember right we arent able to theme update because we don't have the required tools

Damn..a version 4 just came out!! lol. This ROM runs fantastic with version 3. I may grab 4, but I am loving this ROM. Can someone let me know if they see any improvement with the battery? I am happy with what I am getting so far, but curious.

Also, my biggest problem with flashing ROMs is setting up all my emails again and resetting all my apps..etc. I do have Titanium Pro. Is there a way to have it so I can restore all my info and make flashing a breeze?

Woke up at 8 am and took phone off charger. Fell back asleep till 10:15. Looked at battery...all the way down to 85%. My email account got stuck syncing. I'm not sure if this is due to him adding the rotating sync icon or just some fluke with my mail account. I'll keep an eye on it.

If your going from the same Rom you can back up and restore system apps, but you will lose any optimizations in the newest version if it happens to be something he edited.

Im assuming since you have pro you know about batch restores right? Press 1 button and it restores all of your user apps apps their data.

You can also just wipe dalvik cache and cache before flashing. You will not have to setup anything after doing this. If you run into any problems though your gonna have to do a full wipe

Yep, I know about the app batch restores. I guess what makes me lazy is I have to reenter all my preferences and email info. Kind of a pain since I use Exchange. I wish there was a way to back that info up and just reload with my current wallpaper, layout and everything as I left it.

As for the stuck email sync, that happened to me in this version. It happens when you first set up your exchange email (at least for me). What I did was go into the sync settings for exchange and had it stop everything. I then had it start again and that fixed it.

Q: you just want to "backup apps" correct? Not "apps + system data"? If I just do the backup apps, does that keep all the info in them as well?

If you just flash the ROM over itself you will NOT lose ANY settings, data, apps, ect.

Most devs suggest doing a full wipe in between updates, but for small updates like this one you can usually get away with flashing it on top of itself after a cache & dalvik cache wipe.

If you have anything acting funny thats when you need to do a full wipe and reinstall before notifying the dev of any bugs

Oh man that is huge. I had no idea..doh. thank you. I will flash this thing soon then.

Had a few phone calls..some texts, took 2 videos..web browsed, uploaded to facebook and tweeted and my phone is at 71% charge. This is unreal. I am riding this thing through the night off the charger to see how long it goes because I am absolutely blown away by the battery life of this phone.

0.5

Changes:
Major update to CPU tweaks: improved both performance and battery life!
Added user configurable options to post boot: selection for battery or performance, and SD card read_ahead (see post 3)
Capacitive buttons now on/dim with screen: no more flashing on/off while in use
Added restart to bootloader option in power menu and updated icons
Updated core apps: Books, Maps, Google+, Street View, TuneIn, Google Videos, and YouTube

Dumb question #1,001. I did not get a chance to flash .4 yet. Can I skip ahead and flash this one?

Sure, the updates contain the full ROM so that shouldn't be a problem as each new update is incorporated into it.

Do a nandroid, then wipe dalvik cache & cache and then flash the ROM. If you have issues nandroid back or do a full wipe before flashing.

If someone flashes .5, please post battery life results as compared to stock? Oddly enough, i'm not used to a stock ROM having better battery than a custom ROM, which is why i'm holding off on flashing anymore ROMs.

It will likely be that way until we get source code for custom kernels.

Everyones adding a bunch of speed tweaks at the cost of battery life. It doesn't help that this ROM has the dual core always on when the screens on.

There are custom ROMS that haven't touched any of the tweaks that affect battery life. I was on one before this dropped

I flash this to help with battery life:
