Root System Apps I safely delete. (Extended Version)

Fuzzy13

Extreme Android User
Being that I have literally tested out EVERY single app and whether or not it can be deleted with little or no problems, I figured I would share an updated version of the apps that are safe to delete. This includes ALL apps.

Now keep in mind that I delete some apps that "most" people might use, like bluetooth, music, etc...... So If you use these then obviously DON'T delete them. Duh..... lol

*These are apps that I've deleted over the span of 4 phones. Ascend, Admire, Galaxy Indulge and Esteem. So I can assure you they are no problems with deleting, freezing or uninstalling them. I personally delete cause I've never uninstalled one and needed it later. That's me though. ;)

Here we go. These are #2 apps and standard system apps.

-Alarm/Clock 1.0 (I use Alarm clock xtreme)

-AppWidgetpicker1.2.3 (I can still pick widgets so I dont know what this app does)

-Astro Astro_3.1.381.std (I use Root Explorer and ICS Folders)

-Bluetooth share 2.3.4 (I dont use bluetooth at all)

-BRCMBluetoothServices 1.0 (As soon as you uninstall this app you will get a force close error that doesn't go away until you reboot, then it's fine. So save this app for last) Or just freeze it.

-Com.Android.Dunserver 2.3.4 (No clue what it does. Hasn't affected anything data, web or downloading wise)

-Com.lge.AppwidgetPicker 2.3.4 (An extension of AppWidgetPicker)

-Downloads 2.3.4 (Only useful if you use the stock browser) DONT uninstall download manager. You wont be able to download anything.

-Both DRM apps. (These are apps for music you put on your phone. So if you keep a lot of music on your phone DONT delete these.)

-Email 2.3.4

-Gallery 1.1.30682 (I use Gallery ICS)

-Launcher Pro (I use HOLO Launcher)

-Lg Hidden Menu

-LG keyboard (Swype all the way for me :D)

-Maps 6.8.1

-MetroPCS Hidden Menu

-[Bookmarks] MetroWeb (I use Opera)

-All MUSIC apps/widgets (I dont listen to music at all on my phone)

-My uploads

-OMA-DM 1.0

-Pico TTS 1.0 (I dont use any of the speech stuff or talk to text)

-PowerOff 2.3.4 (I think this is a shutdown animation. Dont want it)

-Search Applications Provider 2.3.4

-SIM Toolkit 2.3.4 (I freeze this because I have no clue what it does. No problems with freezing it though)

-GTalk (I freeze this because I do use it every now and then. I un freeze when I need it and freeze when I dont. I do this with ALL apps that aren't used constantly. No point in running in the background right?)

-TTS Service 2.3.4

-Video Player 1.38 (I use the video player in ICS Gallery. Its much better)

-Voice Search

-VPN Services (No clue what it does)

-WAP Service 1.0 (No clue what it does)

-YouTube (I'd rather go to the site)

There you have it. Because of the apps I delete, I free up space on the Internal system memory AND I cut down on apps that could potentially run in the background. Hope this sheds some light on system apps that can be deleted.

Enjoy :D

Function
A virtual private network allows a remote user to connect to a network at another location, generally their home or office. The connection is functionally similar to a local area network (LAN) connection that would be created through the use of ethernet cables or a WiFi connection. As the connection occurs over the Internet, the speed of the connection may be slower than a local connection would be.

Benefits
Virtual private networks can allow individuals to be more productive by letting them access files from their home or work computer. When two networks are connected through a virtual network connection, collaboration between two groups can be improved since each networked team will have access to the network resources of the other team as well. VPNs can also be useful for business travellers, allowing them to file reports or access new materials directly while still travelling.

I found this at ask.com. If I read it right, it's another way to connect to a pc.

WAP is designed to work with a variety of mobile devices, wireless networks and operating systems. Smartphones, traditional cellphones, two-way radios, pagers and any other mobile device capable of accessing the Internet is compatible with WAP service, so long as it runs on one of the WAP-compatible wireless networks: CDMA, CDPD, DataTEC, DECT, FLEX, GRPS, GSM, iDEN, Mobitex, PDC, PHS, ReFLEX, TDMA and TETRA. WAP runs on a number of operating systems, including EPOC, FLEXOS, JavaOS, OS/9, PalmOS and Windows CE.

Found this at ask.com also. Sounds like WAP would be something to keep handy.

I did use this list to delete a lot of apps that seemed to me unimportant also.

Thanks man! I tried the ICS gallery and it keeps forcer closing on me though. I tried fixing permissions thinking that it was conflicting with the stock gallery but it still force closes. Any ideas?

Also...do you use the ICS camera as well?

I used both at one time so having the original shouldn't be a problem. Not sure what it could be. Yeah I bought the ics+ camera.

Thanks Fuzzels! Some of these apps probably run in the background... I disable a ton of apps at startup as well :D
I'll get right on deleting these :)

That's so weird. You downloaded it from market right?

Download my apk and push it to data/apps with root explorer. Reboot the phone. It should install automatically. See if it works okay then.

Make sure you delete and uninstall anything ICS gallery you have before doing this. Leave the stock gallery though.

Now it works like half way lol. I can open it and see my albums and I can open the albums...but if I click on one picture and try to swype through them it force closes. But it only seems to do this on the big albums. I have one album with 2 pics and two albums with over 50 pics...it swypes through the two pics fine but the bigger ones it force closes when I try to open one individual pic...wtf

That makes no sense at all. I just check mine and it works just fine. Something is off somehwere. An app or something IDK.

Try going into app manager & clear the data cache on the gallery. My stock gallery started messing up, & when I cleared data it let me see all my pics again.

ok...ive narrowed it down to something in my mint theme lol...any ideas about what it could be?

I have no clue honestly. You can download my ICS 4.0 theme and compare the 2 cause that's what Im running. IDK. Can't believe a theme would affect an app.

idk either...it works fine with #2 without a theme but as soon as i flash my mint theme it starts force closing lol. im gonna install all of the apps in my mint theme one by one and see what happens.

I bet it's an app. Flash the theme without any apps and see what happens.
