Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

n00bII is live, the link is in the first post, screenshots to come shortly!

For those coming from n00bI I recommend doing a cwm backup, installing II from the zip in CWM, rebooting, then advanced restoring the data from your backup.

Also, I installed a sweet icon pack but I haven't figured out how to make it set up by default, to get them up click the settings button, then preferences and choose the elegant icon theme.

Please report any issues by PM and I will address them after the fourth.

Happy Independence day everyone, thank a soldier today!

Updated from n00bI to n00bII just 1 hour ago.
I flashed n00bII, then restored data.
Everything was OK, but:
- data/system/throttle folder appear again, so I reflashed "throttlefix.zip" and deleted that folder.
- GTalk app disappeared, so restored with Titanium Backup.
- vDM Client, I frosted it.

Thanks for this super stable and fast rom, the best by far.

Two thumbs up from me!
Who has the zip for the throttle fix?

I love the elegant theme in Go Launcher. That has been my theme for sometime now. I'll check out the Rom tonight when I get in. Have you had any WiFi issues? Seems common in every Rom I load, kernel is the culprit I think. Even the stock kernel has the issue.

Wow, awesome. I'll be switching to this tonight(been running a stock deodexed rom with my own theme) and let you know how it runs. The only thing I really don't like about it is the wifi icon in the notification bar. It looks really pixelated in some of the screencaps. I also really prefer the honeycomb battery indicator. But it looks like you put a lot of work into this so thanks and i look forward to using it.

Welcome, feel free to make a theme and start a thread, n00b is meant to be a clean starting point and we could use some alternate themes

i was currently running the new wics but i switched to the new noob II rom runs so much smoother and everything functions so well good work :D you should do a new battery icon overall i love this rom!!

To everyone that wants new icons for your ROM may I suggest ROM Toolbox. That will allow you to change icons on n00b II.

MrBobo,

I would suggest to improve new version:

- Remove Throttle:
http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/570013-remove-throttle.html
- Remove vDM Client (I think no other app use it).
- SD-Booster, set cache to 2048. I tried 512, 1024, 2048 & 3096, but got best results with 2048 (SD-Booster suggest 512 for Warp).
- Nemus Launcher have similar functionality as GoLauncherEx, almost the same, but Nemus is lighter (GL uses 22MB of RAM, Nemus only 13MB). Xperia Launcher is a good simple launcher.

I tried Juice Derender, Go Power Master, Green Power and others "Battery Savers", but all of them can affect phone stability, so best results can be reached with an non-issue bloatware removed rom like n00b and SetCPU, my warp is working just perfect.

Thanks

i believe xperia to be the best its simple light weight and stable :D plus it looks good manually themed :D

Thanks for the suggestions, I am interested in opening up the sd card speed but want to find an init.d or other script so I don't need to install an apk to do it, this ROM is about removing bloat while increasing speed/stability.

I can look at the throttle and incorporate it if it makes sense, but honestly I have never noticed being throttled, probably because I am on wifi most of the time.

I like the size, speed and themability of xperia, I am not a fan of GO just because it seems to be so hungry to take over everything and imho could itself be called bloatware.

the nice thing is all of these suggestions are easy things a user can do based on their preferences

the init.d tweak you want is readahead it allows the phone to read the sd card at whatever rate you enter in :D
hope that helps buddy
CHeers!
P.S. sorry for never sending you that file haha i have been bogged with my ROM and my personal life is getting a bit nuts these days if you still need it throw me a PM and ill get it to you

After using the new n00b now for a short while I can safely say this is a good ROM. I still prefer the old one (but that is only preference given how I don't really use the Miui apps). I do believe that the new ROM is definitely more of a complete ROM as opposed to the scaled back nature of 1.0. I wouldn't worry about SD booster being bloatware. It's a small app and doesn't drag the system down. I am currently using Launcher Pro but I would keep the Xperia launcher. It seems very stable and the option to stack the dock with folders is very cool. Again good work and keep it coming! Thanks again!

I'm not an android dev, but I think SD booster doesn't eat ram, it is only an app to set cache size, if you are not going to change it anymore you can uninstall it and cache size will still set.

I agree MrBobo about the way He wants for this rom.

I am hearing you guys, I did some more de uglifying of the theme, see post three for a flashable zip (you won't lose any data, just flash it over n00bII).

I made some wifi/signal icons based off ICS and updated the dialer to change some of the blue to white, also changed the usb connected screen to white and put a goofy pic in for when your battery is low. I am thinking about the battery icon, I like it to be numbered personally but I am open to suggestions (by email please, let's keep this thread on topic :)

If you have a suggestion for the ROM, I prefer a PM rather than lengthening this thread too much with back and forth on that topic. Please send links so I can check out what you are talking about otherwise I am googling and you never know what I fill find!

Any bugs out there? PM or post on the thread, that's appropriate discussion for the thread!

Hello,
It is almost impossible to find something perfect, but this is really great:

n00bII + n00bII_ThemeUpdate + NemusLauncher + SetCPU + readacache=2048

100% issues free, very fast & responsive

:D:D:D My Warp feels good :D:D:D
