I am still missing something here. I don't understand WHY you have to switch from your current Voice\Text plan to get this phone subsidized. You do not have to switch from your current plan. The only thing you would have to do is give up your unlimited data and take the 2gig $30\month tierd data plan...

I agree with ya, that there is nothing they are offering to me to pick up this phone subsidized and give up my unlimited data, but I still don't understand why you guys are saying you have to change your entire Voice\Texting plan. You don't have to do that...

I don't know about the others, but my Family Share plan has a discount on it from Fall 2010. It's basically lifetime (the end date moves up 1 year every year we've had it) and gives each line a $20 discount as long as the keep unlimited data on it. I believe it was worded that way since they were still offering those 150mb data plans at that time. My problem is no one at Verizon seems to have any idea if moving to a tiered plan will terminate the discount. I could probably live with 2GB a month, but losing the discount means another $100 a month (plus taxes on that $100). At that point I'd go somewhere else or switch to a prepay dumbphone. Having a smartphone is nice but not if it's gonna cost us $2400 more over the life of a contract.

Talked with a CSR today about my brother's call last Saturday, where first thing the rep said was my brother would probably need a new phone rather than doing a factory reset that ended up fixing the problem. He is out of warranty, but still 7 months from his upgrade date. I asked her of this is gonna be common practice to try and get people off of the new plans, and she said well since the share data plans are new we're gonna push them. Even though I was told previously that the earliest you could get a manager upgrade was 6 months before your upgrade date. So something to keep an eye out for when talking to Verizon. If they seem helpful & generous, they're probably giving you the shaft.

hmmm... Ya, I still have an old Alltel plan before Verizon bought them. I guess they will try to get me off that plan and the unlimited data I have. Like I said before, eventually I think they won't wait for you to buy a subsidized phone, they will wait till you just activate a different phone on your line and they will say before you can activate any other phone you have to get one of their new plans... They will get what they want one way or another. Ya, like you I can easily afford a smart phone, but there comes a point where you have to start considering the yearly cost... At least for me anyway...

One more factor in the S3 vs Dinc4g decision: Sammy has more or less confirmed Jelly Bean on the S3 in 4Q12. Any guesses on when the 4G will see it?

the inc4g looks great imo... fast from what i have seen so far........but the one thing that i was wondering about and i think is killing it for me is the internal storage. 8gb seems like plenty but with ics not allowing apps to move over to the sd card ( i think thats what i read) and it only having what looks to be 1.06gb for apps. what a downer. my current phone has 400mb and it sucks but i have the luxury to move apps to sd card.

this has all but killed it for me. i want the phone to last 2 years for me but that low of app storage... no go

its been fun i loved following everything here from the conversations off topic and general knowledge i got in return on the android operation. learned a lot. and thank you.... for those getting it. good luck and hope its a great phone for ya...

i played with the s3 tonight at tmobile. a little bigger then my current phone but felt pretty good in hand and pocket. only 1/4" taller and wider. and about half as thick.
i can live with that i think.. well i have 14 days to decide..

SD card slot? What kind of screen, amoled or lcd? What size battery, and how does it last? and most importantly, release date?

Really?

^ What I'm hoping (and thinking) is that the HTC will be designed for better battery life and to be operated more like a normal phone... most of these LTE phones these days, and especially the ones that are almost 5 inches big, they people basically wear the chargers around their necks! with extra batteries in their pockets :P

Agreed.

Yup. really

I wonder where he got all those repetitive posts.

Those were all posts in this thread at one point or another.

I did a search in this thread for "most importantly" or something like that. These all came up, sometimes just quoted by others (the original had gone missing or something).

I knew I had seen those exact words a couple times at least.

I don't get it though. Really, no clue. What purpose would that serve?

I remember the first phone post takeover I tried to buy was a blackberry and they tried to drop all sorts of fees on me to move to verizon plan. I went to a store where it didn't cost much more to rid of the Q to Curve.

And I still have unlimited data and alltel plan....

If phone people try to pull stuff, go to corporate store and/or reseller..... for whatever reason they are more honest to me.

Jamala, possibly you are correct. Perhaps I am justifying spending so much for a toy that probably isn't much more advanced than what I am typing this reply on. I don't think I want to know what the real truth is. I never thought to ask if I could mix and match old with new.

;) Perhaps... I talked myself out of getting it subsidized "for now"... If I buy it out right it will be in a couple months. However!!!! that could all change if I walk into the Verizon store on Thur and fall in love with this phone...!!

Your a real flip-flopper like me. Let's run for president. If I had never read the galaxy nexus threads I might have subsidized the sIII to keep unlimited. But I'm an HTC manboy and won't support sammy this time. I'll make up for my snafu down the road a piece.

What did you see that talked you out of the GS3?

Mainly connectivity. But I will admit you see that on all phone threads. I never used one, real world, soooooo, don't know for sure. Just saw a whole lotta complainin' goin' on. I was pleasantly surprised how sleek and comfortable the s3 felt when I took a look at tmobile. I was falling, but caught myself in time. Don't want a big girl.

I don't make a lot of calls on my phone.... and I am very happy with Nexus. Little quirks, kinda like early incredible days.

In the unboxing videos of the Inc 4g, everyone seems like well, meh.

Really? Not sure I agree with that at all. I think the phone looks great in the unboxing videos, and the comments made by the unboxers are extremely positive. Very fast and smooth. Not sure how it could look better.

I was speaking of the reviewers. They all seemed unenthusiastic to me. And I'm speaking of the unboxing videos from the last two days.
