Root Mybackup Pro problems backing up

mchef8

Newbie
I have Mikg 3.11 and I'm trying to do an Application APK's plus data backup. I keep getting a message 'could not open db for market links'. I have read other posts with the same problem but no solution other than trying Ti backup. Also saw a post about setting backup path to sd-ext, but no explanation how to do that. I have contacted support and followed their instructions of uninstall, reboot, reinstall. No luck. Their final response was that it's probably b/c of the rom.
Does anyone have a fix for this issue or know why it's happening?

sorry i have not really messed around with mybackup pro very much. i use titanium backup and have never had any issues with backups and restores of my app and its data.

My Thoughts on the subject are how much space do you have left in internal memory. If you don't have enough the program will hang. As far as putting programs on sdext you will need darktremors a2sd for that. You need to create a partition anywhere from 256m to 1.0gig in order for dt to work

I use Mybackup pro also and I've seen this problem when I don't have an internet connection. This happens because the app cannot link to google play since there is no internet going into the phone. Also, it could be as previously mentioned that you don't have enough internal storage that the phone hangs.

hi..
i want to ask, if i used MybackUp to back up pics, video nd etc that stored in internal sd card, and use titanium to backup all user apps + data,
will it crash? and i want to confirm, is that titanium backups can't back up thing such photo and videos?

and some apps data that download from internet, like nova 3 and IMB 3,
is that also included in titanium back ups?
and is that also include in cwm nandroid backup?
can i restore it after flash stock firmware?

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!

1.no it will not crash. and tb does not backup anything on the sd card. one of its many functions is to backup apps and their data and nothing else. so photos and videos will not get backed up. you can always backup your sd card to the computer and store it safe there.

2.any apps that you have installed onto the phone will be recognized by tb and get backed up. so yes nova 3 and such will be fine.

3.first of i would recommend that you switch cwm to amon ra 2.3. it just wipes better. plus with cwm you will not be able to flash certain files. there are two kinds of scripts that tells the recovery how to install certain files. they are amend and edify. cwm only has support for edify. however, amon ra 2.3 and cwm 2.6 support both edify and amend.

and one last thing cwm, just does not wipe very well. if you plan on staying with it, i recommend that you wipe everything at least three times before flashing a rom.

4.nandroid backups can be restored at any time. just remember that they are your friend.

i would recommend that you read the:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html, skip the rooting process and go to after root section.

a few questions, how did you root? and what is your hboot?

Photos and videos are stored on the external SD card. As long as you don't wipe that you wont lose photos.

The backup programs back their files to the SD card, so that wouldnt help.

If you want to backup pictures/videos hook for phone up to a PC and transfer them over

so is that nandroid include sd card data? such pics, vid, etc.? can i get back my sd data? pics and bla bla bla?

what i mean is the data download from internet such nova 3 that more less need 2gb to storage, usually i used backup one to restore, but it failed, and need to redownload the data when open the apps. the saved data is fine, but the data that need to use so i can play the game ( usually called as sd data) are gone, so is that still include on titanium backup pro?
btw, such sd data for game usually default to where? mnt/sd card(intern)/android/data?

what is amend and edify mean to? and im usually used cf-root to rooted, so can i install amon ra and remove cwm and cwm manager? will that crash or fcs or cause program to my phone?

and one last thing cwm, just does not wipe very well. if you plan on staying with it, i recommend that you wipe everything at least three times before flashing a rom.

how do you know that? what'll happen if it doesn't wipe well?

a few questions, how did you root? and what is your hboot?

with cf-root, what's hboot?

5.with cf-root, what's hboot?

1.no the nandroid backup does not backup your sd card. only way to do it is to back it up to a computer. or some cloud service like dropbox. and i'm not exactly sure what you mean by getting sd card data? anything saved to the card will still be there, unless you wipe the sd card, then they will not be.

2.never played nova, but i believe that i does have its own folder on the card and that is probably where everything goes.

3.again amend and edify are scripts that tells the recovery how to flash or install a particular file or to perform certain functions. for example, there is a file called superwipe that wipes the system partitions, cache, and dalvik cache 3 times and the it wipes any temp files and does this 3 times. it is just that a superwipe file. however, it is in amend scripting and you cannot flash this with cwm.

4.no a custom recovery is separate from the rom so switching will not have any affect on your rom now. i know this cuz i know this. lol and you will get a phone that might not work correctly. you might get a lot of fc's or the phone may not boot up at all. it will not brick the phone, but cwm not wiping will just create more headaches then it is worth it. but hey, this is all up to you. i'm just giving you some advice from my experiences over the years with my rooted og evo. what you do with it is all you.

5.what is cf-root? wait.....what phone do you have?

Im using samsung galaxy s3-GT-i9300
2. and if the download data of the game on internal sd card with get erased when perform wipe all user data on cwm, right?
so i need to manual copy that to my phone, before wipe user data right?

3. so basically if cwm just use edify, so some file like superwipe can't be flashed, then it will causing problem to phones or that file get deleted?

wait, is that files or apps?

4. so what should i do? if i want to use amon ra, i must remove cwm right?
or what? i'm on my wits end now..

5. like i say, i use samsung galaxy s3, cf-root = 1 click root, lol

SORRY, I didn't notice that got into EVO 4G thread, but if there any help i'll appreciate it. thx's..
SORRY, please forgive me, as im in frustating mode yesterday and not notice that.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is an evo 4g forum. i would disregard everything i said. i;m not familiar with that phone and any suggested here could brick your phone or may not apply to it at all. if you have any questions about that phone then i would go here:Samsung Galaxy S3 - Android Forums and pick the right forum for your phone. sorry about that.
