Does this annoy you fellow Connect owners?

This thread is about Metro's business and marketing practices. It is not a esteem vs connect thread.

And yes Fuzzy, the connect was a $100 more than the esteem when the connect came out. The esteem had a rebate here in NY. And like Tokenpoke, I waited for the better handset to debut,... regardless of cost.

Here's why this thread has gone south. In order to perceive what Metro is trying to do, you have to take for granted the connect is the better phone. Sorry esteem users,.... thats just the way it is. Once you realize that, It becomes quite obvious Metro PCS is trying to take advantage of people. And this is the company we keep. This is the gist of this thread.

It's got nothing to do with preference between the 2 handsets. The connect is newer and more advanced. And if metro is saying otherwise to customers, it's flat out wrong, and despicable.

On what planet is an older version more money? Is the esteem a 30 year old bottle of single malt? A 57 Chevy?

Even if the esteem was the better cell,... its stil doesn't warrant a price hike being an older 4g handset.

Come on guys, this isn't rocket science.
 
It is an upgrade on normal standards and less opinionated aspects. Only one thing is hdmi out that's it. But lots of newer flagship phones don't have it. Its an upgrade its fact regardless .
 
Not a big upgrade. Once esteem gets cm9 yall gonna be jelly. :p
There doing that so people will buy the "better" cheaper connect over the expensive beast, esteem.:D

Your right . Its not a big upgrade but nonetheless it is. And I'm not trippen I'm just waiting for the sg3 or GN... Metro will probably still charge more for the esteem lmao

No, besides HDMI, it lacks notification lights and bigger screen size. And more subjective, it is lacking in design aspect. I would call it an upgrade if it had better hardware but preserved notification lights and bigger screen. Almost forgot, LG connect front camera is a downgrade as well from Esteen.

In LG Connect, it feels that MetroPCS has decided to go a cheaper route with 4G phones. The next one, Huawei Activa, is a complete tasteless disgrace.

Luke i said . A bigger screen is totally opinionated . So that's scratched. And the connect has a better quality screen that's not opinionated. Camera quality? No that's just wrong lol. As for design that's opinionated aswell. I like the design of the connect, so do many others. So that's scratched. The notification lights is cool and somthing id like. But that doesn't really qualify as a upgrade. .. on the other hand having double the ram and a much newer and faster internals is a factual upgrade . You cant argue that at all. So in the end its an upgrade on non opinionated standards all the time. There both good phones and I'm done debating about it bexaise there really isn't one. And like I've said the whole point of this was why metro did thw price scandal thing. Nothing else.

On the planet where people pay more money for the older model.

What seems to be the problem?

Don't like the price hike? - buy Connect.

Don't like MetroPCS practices? - Jump the boat and switch to another carrier. I am sure other carriers never try to take advantage of their customers.

There is nothing despicable here. Nobody forces you to buy Esteem.

I will tell you what despicable is. Despicable is when Verizon charges you like you are calling to some remote African country for calls within U.S. when you go over the allotted minutes. Once, I paid $140 for $70 plan due to overages. That's what taking advantage of people really means. Ironically, I overaged that month because I spent hours on the phone with AT&T, another crooked company,because they did not properly apply the rebate to my new home internet service, and their stupid employees think slowly and place you on hold often.

There is nothing opionated about bigger screen. Take a ruler and measure it. It is bigger.

Yes I can. In the regular use, my Esteem runs smoother than my mom's Connect. If I can't tell the difference from this internal update, it does not count. So, scratch that!

At least, I get a real benefit from bigger screen and notification lights daily.

Its a opinion if someone likes a bigger screen or a smaller one . I think 4 inches is the perfect size. You don't . OPINION

But its a fact you have a older, less powerful computer. So lets not scratch that.
 
I just hope you upgrade to the next powerhouse metro phone so be can be on the same page! ;).... if you don't, you will still be in denial... lol all fun and games though.... android is awesome.

If bigger screen was preserved, I would accept it as an upgrade. But even color-coded notification lights are so freaking useful. I find them useful 5-10 times a day. I just don't get why they have not preserved them in Connect. The only explanation seems to be cost cutting.

Yes. ;) But I don't plan on upgrading for 2-3 years because Esteem is like my dream phone. It does everything I want perfectly, and it fits me because I am pretty big guy myself. Connect looks like a midget in my hand. Also, upgrading is pointless money drain more often than not.


But whenever a real upgrade shows up, I will acknowledge it; I have no problem with that.

There is one thread in response to this, but it mostly makes fun of Connect owners for making this thread. Another thread complains of plastic feel of Connect and is 3-4 posts long. There is not anything even close to this thread on Esteem forums.

The bottom line is, regardless of which side you are on, most any argument over this is all opinion. Some may feel the esteem may feel higher quality, some may actually like the way the connect feels (me). Some like a bigger screen, some like a brighter screen.

What is not an opinion is that the connect is more powerful, has more memory and has a better screen. I'm not talking about screen size either, I'm talking about screen technology. Its simply better.

Using facts vs. Facts, not including opinion, going on specs alone, the connect is the superior handset.

Irregardless of that, this whole thing is silly. If people like the esteem more than the connect, or vice versa, more power to them. I could care less what the esteem users opinion of the connect is, just as I could care less what my fellow connect users think about the esteem.

I put my vote in with my wallet, I prefer the connect. To each his own.
