Let's get a few things straight here Cupcake. My response had nothing to do with a phone.

I'm not angry about today. The phone will be out soon. What bothers me, not necessarily making me angry, is people like you who claim that others "made" you waste a day refreshing this website for news. Then, when nothing came out, "You were had." It's that pathetic attitude, where nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions that irritates me. Quit blaming those that giving us whatever little bit information they dig up and take responsibility for your own actions. No wonder this country is going into the toilet.

And don't think I didn't get the patronizing tone there 'young man'. I'm not young and this ain't my first rodeo.

geez.....I'm surprised you didn't go with a "back in my day we walked 5 miles through blizzards to school, Uphill both ways" story.:p:p

Well, think about it, if everyone on this forum, or maybe others decided to put up money for HTC to manufacture a phone by their own set spec, we could truly have what we want. VZ has their open handset alliance, which they will allow any phone meeting their CDMA criteria to go on their network. So we could finally say "This is what we want, build it". If this actually worked carriers would 1, pay attention to our needs, and 2, change the game allowing us to have the upper hand. The only thing VZW could do is to charge their contract fee, which they would gladly do but we could have the phone amongst phones!

I would love to give you some money to make your own mobile phone, but unfortunately, me and some friends are building our own space shuttle and a couple teleporter pods. So my money is tied up in that. We just got sick of waiting for NASA to offer us rides to the moon. It will be really neat, maybe NASA will even ask us to build them teleporter pods if ours work really good.

Thoughts about today's events ...
Even though we didn't get what we wanted we should be glad about the Evo. This is a major victory for Android and that's really why we are all here. We'll get our beloved Incredible. Just be patient and hang in there. I was just as frustrated until I saw the bigger picture that Android is out classing Apple OS exponentially and better phones are coming. FWIW, I think we'll hear something tomorrow. I hope!

Listen, again I am not saying this could or would happen all I am saying is it would be worth a shot, that's all, what if they said yes what if it was enough money, what if the press got wind of what we were doing and put VZW in an awkward situation, it's all an if. Here is another if, "If everyone thought things were not possible and they couldn't be done or cost to much nothing would get done" Your other option is to accept what they give you and keep waiting til they decide to do something you like. Think about it the EVO is awesome, but if you had your way would it have a TFT screen, I bet not, but it's not your choice, it's Sprint's

OK, this is my last post towards this line of discussion. Sure I wish I could make my dream phone. My dream phone isn't your dream phone, and your dream phone isn't the next guys dream phone. Carriers try their best to put out great hardware that we'll like and that's cost effective. Not everyone is gonna be 100 percent pleased. That's why we all end up 'settling'.

I just don't think your idea of a crowd funded phone is even viable economically without the help of a carrier, because there's too much stuff that goes into development of a mobile phone. What network would we test on etc....

If you disagree, fine. When in Rome.

All I know is I am getting really tired of all the negative energy. Shitty as it it, the negative comments don't add to the overall mood of this thread. I really hate to rant because it takes up so much unnecessary room, but today really pushed me over the edge.

As everyone has stated, this phone is creating a lot of buzz, and people have invested a lot of there time and energy into everything that goes on here. Some people like to just sit back and watch it all unfold (like myself).

What I am saying is to all of those people (you know who you are) that like to feed of peoples emotions, and generally try to make low blow comments at the members of this thread, it is extremely aggravating and really pisses me off.

Honestly if you don't have anything to contribute, and you want to post useless "this phone is fake", "this phone will never come out" bullshit than I feel like you have no place here.

Everyone is entitled to there own opinions, cardboard box stories (had to Montana :) ), and hell even conspiracy theories and you know what?! I welcome that. so if you want to continue to increase your post count with constant low blows, well then, leave!

/rant

Tomorrow would just be so much easier if the haters would just keep their mouths shut and let us true members handle the news (good or bad) together without throwing fuel on the fire.

Just for an FYI, the VZW tester I follow twittered the following bout 2 hours ago...

"Will say this.. I'm rooting like hell for htc n the evo4g.. can't wait till we get ours. :) oooops... but wimax is fast as hell though"

He got tired of NASA to (true story)

Gorgeous up here... that pic was taken in Glacier National Park. It's... well... incredible! :p Drop by anytime!

Will do. Always wanted to get up to GNP, never have. Once this phone drops though, I'll have a lot more free time (after I catch up on my work, of course:eek:)!

I'm gonna pack it in for the night. One of the dogs just killed something in the back yard and I have to go see what it is and clean it up. Par for the course here:rolleyes:

Here's hoping that tomorrow is...Incredible:cool:

Hope we here something soon. Talked to my wifes mom whom I am adding on to our plan because I get a 20 percent company discount. She wants to do this deal in the next week or 2. I am pawning off my 3 month old LG Touch on her so I can get a new smartphone. My wife has the droid and after seeing that compared to my phone I was like crap I need a smartphone. If something does not materialize I may be getting the droid guess it could be worse and I all ways have the 30 days I guess.

How would your plan be any different....I doubt Verizon is gonna put demo phones of a product that they aren't gonna profit from in their stores. 3 Million for production costs, research, testing of a phone seems pretty low.

HTC already has all the parts and functioning phones on the network. I would think they know if a phone is going to work. I have ordered computers over the internet without trying it out at a store. Also, went to car dealers and ordered vehicles without test driving it.

Lets say you go to the website.... Build your phone
1. choose between 6 bodies
2. choose amount of ram
3. choose winmo or android
4. choose screen size
5. Choose HDMI out
6. choose memory built in
7. choose fm radio
8. choose bluetooth
9. choose color
10. choose etc

In the spirit of talking about the timing of announcements. Samsung had the main stage and announced the Galaxy S this morning. Hmmm...after the EVO announcement, who stole the thunder? Not too many people are talking about the Galaxy S now. I'm hoping that VZW isn't as dumb as a lot of folks think, anticipated a similar response to an announcement of the Incredible on the same day as the EVO, and instead chose to announce on a day in which no other device would steal its thunder. Just a thought.

Ask him when?

Thats the story my dad gave me when I told him that my next phone was going to have a 1 ghz processor

"My first laptop was the size of a suitcase!"

So who do you sue, when your 3G connection has problems like the N1?

Edit: Cause testing all those different combinations of things would be quite the task.

really cool idea and i wish it were real....but the fact that there are so many possibilities for phone hardware combinations makes producing the phones really inefficient. Just think of all the different manufacturing processes that would be going on.

Well ladies and gents, it has come to the end of a very emotional day with more downs than ups. All hope is not lost, we still have tomorrow.

The one saving grace that will allow me to sleep like a baby tonight is........nyquil

Thank you and goodnight

If toyota made you a car and the engine didn't work, who would you sue?

Good luck getting HTC to take on all liability for manufacturing a product with no testing budget.

Edit: didn't want to waste another post, so I edited.....Think of when motorola was doing poorly. They were losing thousands of dollars, they were losing millions of dollars.

Trust me if they are getting paid, it all going to be calculated in there, and plus it's they law they don't rely have an option if they agree to manufacture an item for you at said price they would have to stay by that item for at least 90 days

I totally get what you're saying, but I just don't think that manufacturing technology is there YET. Some day we'll be able to do this, but I don't think it's possible now to so flexibly build a device that has to be so compact. You can do this with cars and computers because there is plenty of space for standardized components and interfaces. Cell phones just don't have that kind of real estate. But, as components continue to get smaller, I can see a day where we get close to this vision.

Anybody from AT&T help me with this question. They have all those dropped calls from phones that At&T picked.:D

I am moving on now.

How do you know this, exactly? Or are you JUST guessing? I mean - if it's accurate information, it doesn't matter if you're a newbie or if you have 1,000 posts!

Like I said, it's just a guess, nothing more. But it makes sense to me that they would wait until after the BOGO ends, then people are looking at paying full pop for any phone they get, and if you're going to pay full pop, why not get the latest and greatest?

Plus, I know there was a lot of talk about the box and whatnot, but the Inc is a fairly sophisticated phone, I would think it would take a decent amount of training so the CSR's can say more than "Uh, it does lots of neat stuff." It makes sense to me that they would give the CSR's at least a week with the phone so they can speak intelligently about it.

This is all just guessing, I have no scoop or special knowledge.
