=============== Requirements ===============
HTCdev Unlock (Choose "All Other Supported Models" and follow all the directions, including driver install)
Custom recovery - I would recommend TWRP since it doesn't have the /misc issue anymore

=============== How to Flash ===============
  • Download the ROM below and place on your internal_sdcard or sdcard (doesn't matter, just remember where you put it!)
  • Go into Settings > Power > Fast Boot and uncheck that.
  • Turn the phone off. Once off, press and hold the Volume Down + Power Button until you reach the white bootloader screen
  • Choose "RECOVERY" (volume down and up to move, power to select)
  • You SHOULD make a backup by tapping on the "Backup" button. You are not required, but I would recommend it.
  • You also SHOULD manually wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and factory reset (wipe /data). This can be done by tapping on the "Wipe" button. Choose those 3 options (and even system if you want, even though the install script does that for you)
  • Choose "Install" and locate the ROM wherever you put it. NOTE: If you don't see it, make sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is mounted. This can be done via the "Mount" button at the main menu of TWRP. Be sure that either internal_sdcard or sdcard is checked!
  • Wait until the install is finished and then tap "Reboot to System"

Help feed a starving college student, and remember most of these devs don't ask for anything, so lets give a little back!!! :)

I told myself I was going to wait for a while to flash any ROMs. I'm sure there are bugs to be worked out. But that little flashaholic in me is just needs to be sated so I'll let you all know how it goes.

I'm itching too, but I still haven't rooted yet. I'm going to take mine in and get the RF test done. I keep bouncing around with signal, data drops suddenly, even with good signal. Maybe its the area I'm in, I don't know. I'd rather check and be sure my hardware is legit before I got rooting around. ;)

Really anxious to see how this puppy performs. :)

Granite,
Assuming your LTEvo is all well, are you going to wait for S-Off, or will you go through the HTCDev - TWRP - ROM method?

I would really like to wait for full S-Off but that could be a while.
There are times I could really use wireless tether for my tablet.

I'll probably do the HTCdev to do what I have to. The current root method is completely reversible, no watermark. ;)

All you need to do is run the RUU linked in the root thread and ka-pow, watermark is gone and unrooted. :)

S-off is always better, but not necessary to do most things. Updating firmware usually takes an unroot, update then reroot because the radios are locked down. Can't update those without full s-off. At least this new method allows direct write to the boot partition so we can flash kernels and boot animations from recovery. :)

The radio info is good information, but being a busy AND lazy flasher a bit saddening. I'll probably keep running this way until I MUST have wifi tether. Although that GPS icon while turned off really bugs me.

Thanks again for the info!

I'd recommend finding an app called Flash Image GUI as a good alternative to flashing kernels on s-off devices. Worked flawlessly on the 3D (1.5 HBoot), and never had to worry about S-OFFing unless you just had to update firmware or radio (which, in the full year I had it, I never did, and had no issues flashing ANY ROM or kernel).

Until 4EXT Recovery is good to go for the Evo LTE, this is a must-have app, IMO.

He's joined the team fused from the One X Charmeleon and a few others, they're going to release the Venom 4G LTE rom soon - don't know if he'll keep this one or retire it.

We live in interesting times! :)

any idea when they will be doing an official release?

After flashing this rom in TWRP recovery, I am having some trouble.

For some reason some apps I have do not show up in any menu's. Such as "Sound Hound". I can see it and even open it from the play store, but am unable to find the shortcut anywhere.

Also, after flashing the latest OTA update that fixes google wallet, the viper boot animation is now gone. The update is "1.22.651.3". And I flashed the patched update via a zip file, so it shouldn't be a problem,

Any help would be appreciated.

My TWRP recovery version is 2.1.8.

P.S. - After flashing the ota update, the menu when you hold the power button changes, and there's only 3 options instead of the ones I got before flashing this zip.

Wallet will work on any of the ROMS. We got the OTA that fixed wallet a couple of months ago.

If you want a sense-based ROM use either viper 4G or MeanROM. Those seem to be the top 2
