Root A couple of neat tricks for HBOOT customization (if you're rooted with unrEVOked)

I pointed this out yesterday to someone over on themikmik, and thought I'd post about it here too.

1st:
RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer | Open to HTC Devices with S-OFF | Need Plugin Devs! - Page 3 - xda-developers

An easy way to customize the HBOOT watermark text.

2nd:
[GUIDE] How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS - Page 76 - xda-developers

An alternative to unrooting (making HBOOT show S-ON without actually relocking anything).

The Bootloader Customizer is still being developed, but once it's complete, I'll be creating the plugin for the Supersonic. That'll be a way to accomplish either of the above two things with minimal effort.

Big thanks to regaw_leinad for his hard work on everything over in the LTE forums.

nice!!!!!!!!!!
so this works only with unrevoked? and not revolutionary? so maybe if one wants to do this that was rooted using other methods, we can just downgrade the misc partition and then downgrade the hboot then it might work. or do you really need to run unrevoked for this to work?

Revolutionary won't work because the Revolutionary HBOOT won't overwrite due to the version number.

The only other (current) rooting method I know of is HTCDev, which shows the device as S-ON anyway. Once you downgrade the misc partition, the device would have to be rooted/unlocked with unrEVOked, so that the modified HBOOT can be flashed without losing S-OFF.

I'm currently on the #Revolutionary IRC to see if I can get a copy of the Revolutionary HBOOT, but I'm not optimistic about my chances. If I could get that, then anyone rooted with either method would be able to use the customizer.

Nice, this is what we have for the LTEVO that allows the bootloader to say ***Locked*** and S-ON even though the device is still rooted and fully S-OFF

Here's another one:

Still haven't figured out how to remove the space where the banner was, though .
