Unless you're a Sprint customer.....then it was awesome.
Before my recent misadventure into AT&T-land, I was a Sprint user for many years, and from my direct experience...
Sprint. Network. Coverage. Sucks.
Anecdotal comments from friends who are still on the network indicate they are "putting up with its shortcomings" until they're out of contract.
Sprint has been hemorrhaging customers for over two years and justifiably so. (See my comment above.) Of course, they had to make a big splash to try to stem the tide of defections. They are desperate, and the "EVO 4G" is virtually all they have. Is it any wonder why they do not, will not, cannot discuss their current 3G[!] coverage? No.
Also, how much is Sprint going to charge for 4G coverage ...if you can get it? When are they releasing the phone? By then, will your network of choice have a phone with comparable features?
I am done with this crying about "their phone is bigger, faster, shinier" than ours. So what?! First, it's an F-ing phone, not a pacemaker. None of these things will change your life.
My first consideration when looking for a replacement for my !ph0ne 3G was the network and THEN the phone. Clearly, Verizon has the best network. I am now just waiting for a phone worthy of my trouble to break my existing contract, and another couple of weeks will not be a big deal to me.
