I think I'm ready to try this out...

I have a pretty customized 1.5 installed and its working great, slow, but great... I'm ready to try this leak out. When I install this update, will it erase all my current app's settings and data or will I be starting over ?

If anyone can tell me that this is not a problem, I'm gonna reboot my phone and do the flash.

also, those that are running this latest update, everything going well?.. Happy with it, anything majorly ******edly wrong with it?

thanks

Husband was on the computer, so I did it from the phone last night and used the one first posted from Megaupload. I've got the dolphin browser with pop up pages turned off. It worked just fine for me, just had to use Astro to move the file from the downloads file to the root file.

Loving it do far, slowly reinstalling apps during the day and haven't had any problems so far.

Cool. This should be the way everyone does it. Super easy!!!

if you followed the instructions to the T. you held vol down and power to get to hboot, etc etc. and you still have problems it has to be a bad file. download from elsewhere and replace what is on your phone and try again

if you have a exclamation and android dude you probably help vol up and power, pull the battery and try again holding volume down (i did that this morning lol)

i d/l'd it from MU on my phone this morning, start the hboot read, walked outside (with phone in pocket), smoked a cigarette(with phone in pocket), started the flash, got a cup of coffee(with phone in pocket), walked back to my desk(with phone in pocket), and it was done.

Just checked with a friend who used another link, his phone is bricked as well. Mine still is too. Phone will not start up with or with out SD card. Trying to reinstall the leak does not work. Factory reset does not work.

Two bricks. :(

this is enough of a reason for me not to do it. gonna hold out. my current Eris with 1.5 is actually making calls (unlike the returned one that didn't do a good job in that department on either 1.5 or 2.1) so i am content. only issue now is what seems to be a bad earpiece (buzzing at high volume). but i might be able to live with it. everything else works great.

ok CM, ty

Just downloaded the update. Thanks so much for the support on this forum!!!!

Dumb question... As I'm a relative purist (on computers and phones, which seem to be becoming one in the same), I'd like to clean up my sd card.

Now that I have the new OS, I have two files that remain on there. They are:
PB00IMG
._PB00IMG

Is it possible to delete these, or will the OS be constantly running from the SD card? Just making sure before I decide to brick my phone :)

yeah delete them aimy, its ok

and whoever is trying the flash, be sure to watch the vertical status bar on the top right corner (sometimes red, sometimes blue) it should move every few seconds till its full. it is sits there for 5 minutes and does nothing you may have an issue.

Hey guys, been a busy day for me, havent got on here much, just checking up to see how things were. hope its working out for everyone as nice as it is for me, i glanced over some of the pages, man did this thread grow! lol. hope i helped a lot of people with this software. i just put it on another friend of mine phone, he loves it. today was my first full day with it, not a single issue, consistantly fast, battery life seemed better. hope everyone is having more pros than cons, i know it didnt fix everything but, for me atleast, its fixed a few things, so i feel that fixing more and not having more problems on top of it is deff a pro.

im sorry to the few i read who might of bricked their phones, i really honestly dont know how you could of, ive never had a process go so smooth as this.

do we have a list yet of bugs fixed or other new findings?

Oh appbrain, you tease.

I d/l'd appbrain based on the comments I saw here -- looked good, saw that all my apps were showing up on the ap[bain website.

So, I reflash the phone with the new 2.1 ROM.
I reinstall the appbrain program, run it, and instead of syncing with the website to reinstall all those programs, it seems to have instead told the website that I have no apps!!
Back to the drawing board.

(Now what apps did I have?)

Wierd, I just finished updating. My people widget had all the same favorites in it, my contacts need to have their ringtones reassigned, but pics are as I assigned them. And, the HTC Weather widget is much more responsive...

So far, so good...

Dang, lost my apps (as I should have, but considering how little my contacts changed...)

oh btw, i dont know if its too late but, i had no issues downloading my apps again from marketplace, just hit menu and downloads, however, one minor thing, do not download the google maps app until your finished downloading all the others, once you update/download google maps, it will for some reason wipe out your history. so do it last.

It's not a big deal, I'll manage to get my way out of it.

It's been a day filled with shit luck with technology. Google Chrome no longer displays images (I can no longer see your avatars, sigs) on some sites and I can reply to a specific post as "New Thread" and "Post Reply" don't show up. Shows up on Opera, IE, and Firefox.

Then, to top it all off, I can't follow a simple damn video tutorial on how to softmod my sister's Wii. Old programs provided by the video uploader, and a bunch of other crap made me just give up after three hours of fiddling around with it.

Downloaded file after work took about 9 min running smooth as silk just finished all apps running smoothly. Just did my daughters phone hers is now upgraded with all her apps running smoothly. Thanks to everyone on the forum for all the info and good luck to all the newly loaded 2.1 devotees

I am so glad I jumped onthe 2.1 band wagon! Google nav is great! I like the new features and graphics, but I miss the little Android waving at me at boot up.

Sorry if this has been answered, but I used to use my backup pro. Now I can't find the pro version?

Lol now you tell me.
