Well said.

perhaps its time for the OP, and everyone else to delete links to that site. certainly there are now plenty of other options to download the file.

OT time here:
I have the paid version of megavideo/megaupload without ads, so I have no problems, so I agree it's probably an ad from there that affected those with the reported viruses.

THAT BEING SAID, I contacted megaupload and they said they will investigate further. Many sites these past couple of months have been reporting issues with their ad supporters embedding malware: pirate bay, surfthechannel, and even rapidshare. So I don't think uploaders should ban megaupload altogether, just that downloaders should be more careful when they click on adware. No virus just pops up by visiting a site, you have to click on something to initate the virus....

I went to rapidshare and tried to download a file (never got to though, so I know it wan't the file) and my yahoo email account was hacked. I didn't know at the time but my 60 day trial of Norton Antivirus expired and it never told me to renew, so I had no protection. I now have Eset, Malware Bytes, and Microsoft Essentials (overkill I know lol) and all is right with the world....

I know this is OT but is Eset a good AV app or is there another one you guys would recommend? The darn hacker sent emails to ALL my contacts including my exes and frenemies, and I want to make sure it doesn't happen again lol.

I know this is kind of off-topic but ever since I loaded this - I've lost a couple of my paid apps. They aren't on my download list - anyone else seeing this? Anyway I could get them back?

(no I didn't backup - I did it before I found this site)

Nope. You're SOL for right now. The apps that you can't see (some paid, some free) are copy protected. This means that a) you can't back them up, it won't save the file, and b) they're not going to show up in the market place before the Eris is officially on 2.1. Now, that said, if you have paid for an app that is not there now, when the Eris is officially on the 2.1 market, google will open the full 2.1 market to us and we'll be able to get those apps again. At that point, they WILL show up in the market as "purchased" and you can simply reinstall WITHOUT having to pay again.

Just a curious side note...Anyone get the "Get more HTC widgets" to work for them?

It worked for me this morning. I was able to get the "Profile" settings widget, "Notes" widget, and updates for "Battery" and "Tip Calculator" widgets by using the "get more HTC widgets" link.

ok I just tried installing the new update held volume plus and end call. My Eris now has a exclamation point in a triangle, next to a droidguy. It hasn't done anything in about 10 minutes, is this the update does it normally take this long?

I didn't see whether you got it working already, but I wanted to let you know that I got the "exclamation point in a triangle, next to a droidguy" the first time I tried to update to 2.1 leak 2, but it's because I held down power and volume-up instead of power and volume-down when I restarted the phone after putting PB00IMG.ZIP on the SD card.

nobody else seems to have a problem with it brah so maybe your antivirii software is malfunctioning brah

No Brah!!! there was a virus on that site, I just got done completely reloading my system because of it. I was able to get the file and the file was fine. But trust me the virus is there.

You're on 1.5 correct? Not working for me on 2.1 2nd Leak.

Edit : Duh. Nevermind. I see it's working for others... not me yet.

no it wasn't, soon as i started downloading the file a program called Antimalware spawned up and took control. So no brah, it wasn't on my computer

AntiMalware is a misleading application that reports false infections/system security threats, displays fake security alerts, uses browser hijacking.

1.5 never had this feature. I'm on the 2.1 2nd leak.

Perhaps they're rolling it out state by state, or perhaps I got it because I did a factory reset last night... I'm not sure why half the people have access and half don't.

Ya... I saw that in the other tread. I'm in CA. Maybe it's traveling East to West.. :)

I'm another one who's still unable to get this working. Any way you could backup and upload these? Or are they protected? Thanks.

On a side note. The stock camera app used to auto-rotate in 1.5, does it not have this capability anymore in 2.1? I noticed it stays static in landscape mode.

From your screen shot I noticed you were on WIFI, so I tried it on wifi and still nothing. I wonder if there is a setting somewhere.....will keep looking:)

Do you have installs from outside the market blocked? Settings>Applications>Unknown sources

Mine's always un-checked, so maybe that helped. And I actually think my WiFi was off when I first got them.

I'm having a hard time downloading the two that I didn't already download, Daily Challenge and Ringtone, so maybe this feature is just coming and going in availability today.

well now that you have been proved wrong, anyone have a way of getting rid of the virus? I'm gonna try that malware bytes thing when i get home. Hope it works

Yea I had it checked, Un-checked it and tried again....no dice. lol I looked for the other 2 on the market and didn't see them so who knows.

It could be the native sms causing it to stay awake. Try an app from the market like Handcent (this is what I use) or chomp sms (both are free). Just remember to go into manage applications and clear defaults for native sms after installing, then go into the new app and start a message, it should then ask what you want to use as the default message, select the new app.
Careful with handcent. Newest update kept my phone awake until I closed the pop up. Even when I seltcted don't turn on screen. Old leak though if that matters.

I would try malware bytes and superantispyware. Both have free versions and can get rid of just about anything.
