Verizon is very serious about training. They send their CSRs to 15 weeks of training before putting them on the floor. You've got to consider to that this sort of training happens in staging, not all at one time.

Due to the fact I usually seem to know more about the phones than their CSRs do, maybe they need to up this to a year. (?)

I took my wife's pos samsung glyde phone (5th one) down to verizon this moring and talked to the tech person. He said that its out of warranty and can't change it out and I'd have to upgrade if I want a new phone (aka one that works). I told him I didn't like anything currently out and asked if anything new was coming out. He said the iphone this summer and I should try to make this phone last until then. I informed him that I don't buy apple products and want something different and better. He said it will be awsome (errrrrr). I asked if he knew about a htc phone and he gave me the I don't know what you are talking about, but really do know and can't or won't tell you anything fumbling with words "I...ummm...well...um...I'm not sure, i guess." And then again said to wait for the iphone (what an asshat). So I dont really know what to do and how to take that. My wife wants/needs a new phone (and she likes the iphone...nooooo) and I'm not sure how long I can keep her happy with "just wait, you'll see...it will be better soon."

Did you just ask us how to make your wife happy?

Called all 3 VZV stores in the St. Paul area and all of them said the exact same thing:

1. When asked about the Nexus One: "Yes, we are getting them in our stores, we cannot confirm the date, but it could likely be next week"

2. When asked about the Incredible: "HTC has not told us of that phone and probably wouldn't want to release a new Android smartphone so near to the Eris' release."

I thought that answer was really odd, but they ALL said some variation of that during the 3 independent phone conversations.

30 days for any carrier plan though, regardless of whatever phone you bring to the table. I do dislike 14 day return windows. not enough time to really get to know your device.

Normally I agree, but my alltel did a return within 14 days but with NO RESTOCKING FEE. Couldn't beat it.

16,000 posts and a million views will happen tomorrow...and we still won't have a clue if or when this phone will be released:D:D

Eris release? Is that a typo?

Is the implication of these consistent responses that Verizon may release the Incredible (a/k/a "ADR6300") as the Droid Eris 2? I say it's plausible, if not unfortunate.

That's been discussed. I guess it's possible, but isn't it kind of like naming the new Corvette ZR1 the "Chevrolet Citation 2"?

not really.

incredible looks like it could be the logical successor to the eris. similar form factor with updated specs.

citation and corvette were not similar in any era.

we should maybe try and find out who's posting the info on technipages...

i know it has already been posted, but has anyone tried finding out more info about the source? then if we find a source......you twitterstalkers could do your work

here's one of the pages again if anyone's wondering.

I agree. More like the Corvette Z06 2. At any rate, considering the eris wasn't that successful, I doubt they will keep the name. The evo doesn't have it and when the touch was successful all of their phones were touches.

Hey man, I've got to say...awesome screenname!! Also cool to have another MN resident on here. I live in Eagan. The VZW reps in the twin cities haven't been very helpful thus far but you might have a breakthrough.

Ok sorry everyone else for "hey, you're also from XX" comment but I couldn't resist.

Fair enough, Afro. I'm just wondering if they still feel they need to continue to leverage their earlier investment in either the "Droid" or "Eris" nomenclature. I agree, that the Eris name is relatively disposable.

I'm just thinking out loud, that's all.

I just meatballs spoke to a VZW customer service rep meatballs who acted like she meatballs knew what the Incredible was meatballs when I asked when it was being released (knowing that she wouldn't have a clue) but then she back tracked and said she had never meatballs heard of the incredible when I asked her another question about it....meatballs.

This thread is epic. Keeps me entertained all day and I'm not even interested in purchasing an Incredible(I'm with AT&T and don't have an out any time soon).
