there are plenty of other names that start with an "e" that they can use. however, i think the eris was only disappointing to us, not the general public.

but, i hate eris 2, or droid 2 or whatever 2. come up with something different.

Word of advice to VZW:
Verizon, you don't have to release the phone at CTIA, you just need to announce it! Sprint's EVO isn't even going to be released until the summer...but they now have customers that will stay with them! In the videos of the EVO I saw many many errors in the ROM. It is far from final, but it was announced. If you, VZW, announced it, then you would have a whole bunch of customers that you wouldn't lose, but no...you have to keep us in the dark hanging from you with one small thread about to leave and take our valuable business somewhere else. It's your choice, VZW. Make it or break it.

P.S VZW, you already have a working Sense UI build on the Desire which shares the Incredible's screen size...EVEN LESS OF AN EXCUSE!

Behavior and commentary such as i've read (painstakingly on my phone) is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE on this thread. The rules are very simple..."No rules, just right" and the "just right" part implies:
  • -No personal attacks
  • -No insults
  • -No put downs
  • -No prolonged diatribes about how "this thread sucks"...say what's on your mind (if you absolutely have to) and leave...no reason to stick around and be a martyr if the thread is so intolerable. This also mean that the rest of us don't need to egg-on or prolong the conversation that person or reply...if bad enough, a simple PM to myself or a Mod will get the gears in motion to a "solution"
I'm coming back home tonight and will be a lot more active on this thread again. Any behavior like the one above will be handled very swiftly...NO NEED TO CALL MY BLUFF, I PROMISE YOU! I hope i've been clear and that i don't speak for myself only...it's all in the best interest of a continued positive place for us all to collaborate.

With that said, many thanks to all the contributors of this thread who keep the spirits up and the conversation going...it'll be worth it in the long run when we're all holding something "incredible" and 3.7 inches long in our hands. (<--- I gave that one up on a silver platter...run with it. <flame suit on>)

There is always an out, Ambictus. Unfortunately, at this point there is price for your early exit. That's where I am, and I am willing to pay ~$100 to do it. I can't take the poor coverage and the locked nature of the !ph0ne ecosystem all that much longer.
 
Side note, just came back from Costco who has a dummy Devour on display.

Honest opinion? my 1 year old son would get more satisfaction out of that plastic piece of junk that anyone over 12.

Any advertisment on that phone is truly wasted.
 
I just discovered myself looking at competitor's sites figuring out how much it cost me to shift my family's business to another provider. Yup. I did.

I agree with you.. only the Devour is brushed aluminum.
 
Ok, I've been gone for a few hours, but I've skimmed the last couple of pages for updates to see what's going on and unless I'm mistaken, we're no closer than we were this morning, correct?

Not quite true.. MM's box has something in it that has 6300 for a name, which is the serial # or name for the Incredible.

Well... there is always technically an out... but currently there's not for me as I can't afford it. There's the ETF then the deposits on Verizon plus paying for the new phones... So... in the mean time I'll just have to wait till the Desire comes out and decide what to do then.

Did u miss MM's box comments? Box is being referred to as the 6300 box by HTC rep, who MM said was a douche! No idea about content's box yet. MM coming back later to expound on box. Oh and something about a video game called Portal.......is it on PS3?
 
We are all pretty much just waiting on Montana Man to get back from work so he can fill us in on what he saw, heard, and what his buddy has told him.

mm went to verizon store when htc rep was there

mm reported that the box was called 6300 box

people linked that the codename for the inc has been adr6300 so it's likely the inc in the box

we are waiting to hear from mm himself and the whole story on here

that's about it.
 
Just popped into VZW on my lunch break and asked about the N1 and the Incredible; mainly just to garner a facial expression or response via body language.

The sales clerk had a very knowing look on his face after I asked him about the N1, almost as if he had just been talking about it. He said:

"No, it's only available through Google at the moment."

And then when I asked about the Incredible:

"No, the only one we have right now is the Droid."

I found that last sentence to be fairly telling, as it was indicative that he knew the Incredible and N1 are Android based.

As I was walking out, I turned to look at him and his associate and it seemed as if they may have been saying, "He just asked about it."
