***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

As many others have done, I decided to call my local VZW store today to see what info I could get. I told the sales guy I was in my upgrade window and I asked him if he knew about the HTC Incredible or knew of a possible release date. His response: "ACC Incredible? I haven't heard of that. Hold on.... (asks co-worker if he's heard of the "ACC Incredible" and he responds no)....No, we've never heard of that phone before, but the Devour just came out, is that the one you're thinking of?" I knew then I was wasting my time. I politely said thank you and hung up.

Yup.. that's about right. ;)

The plot thickens. I would be surprised to see the N1 for sale in Verizon corporate stores.

FWIW, this was an email I received from a Verizon support rep on 3/15/10:

"I am sorry to report that we do not have any information on when the Nexus One will be released.

Unfortunately, Google will be handling the release of the Nexus One with Verizon Wireless, and we don't have any information on the timeframe that this device is coming to Verizon Wireless. Google did announce that it would be coming in the spring."

Hey everyone, been following this thread for about a week now and appreciate all the info that people have gathered about The Incredible...

Anyways, I called a local Verizon store and asked about The Incredible and the Nexus One. The Verizon rep had no idea about the Incredible, but had some info about the Nexus One. He said he wasn't allowed to give me an exact date but hinted that it would be released next month. I asked him would it be out early, mid, or late April, and he again said that he couldn't give me that info. I then asked him if the phone would actually be purchasable at a Verizon store and he said yes. I repeated the question to make sure and added that when available for Verizon I wouldn't have to purchase the phone through Google, he again responded with a confident yes...

Are there rumors that The Incredible and the Nexus One are coming out at the same time?

That theory has been passed around here many times...not sure what to make of it:confused:. If what he says is true, then I would be ecstatic to try before I buy it.

...except for the network, I presume. ;)

We're glad to have you here. But please don't touch anything.

LOL... well, here in SLC I have to begrudgingly admit that AT&T has picked up a bit and seems to be comparable to VZW.

And as for everyone calling in to VZW stores, here's a thought.

Since MM said his friends HTC rep kept referring to the "6300 box" perhaps when you call in you can also bring up reference to the HTC 6300 instead of just the Incredible? Just a thought as to how you might be able to milk more info.

Okay everyone, if this pans out, how many of you would consider jumping ship from the ADR6300 to the N1, if VZW ends up subsidizing the latter? This would, theoretically, allow a 30-day return period nationwide (not just here in CA), allow full 3G network access (if that was ever an issue on CDMA) and drive down from >$500 to ~$200.

Personally, I'd still prefer Incredible. You?

<--- is amazed how many VZW reps are giving opposite answers, dates, etc. Some say yes, it will be in store. Others say no. Some say next week, others say May. Some say they have never heard of it, others say they have handled the phone, etc. It's freakin' whack. Whack I tell ya
True, but it sounds like the stores are just starting to be trained on the phone so there will be some disconnects yet. Give it a week or two and I'll bet there responses will become similar. We _know_ the phone is out there, just a matter of time. I'm banking/hoping on mid-April at this point.

From all these responses from VZW reps. Im pretty confident they are all going by this forum now and information that we have leaked etc.....atleast it sounds an awful lot like it.

Ughhh i hope it comes soon, and i hope the Nexus One comes soon too, i don't want April release dates goddammit. The Nexus One was announced for Verizon since the begininng and freaking AT&T already got it without being announced at all (even though it isn't subsidized they still got it)...........

Good point. As we have discovered many VZW reps have very little knowledge about future phones. It is also probably that the released name of the 'Incredible' will be something else. So unless these CSR have been poking around on their own about this HTC phone they may not even know it by this name. The '6300' phone might get better or at least different results.

I wouldn't count on that role reversal.

I'd still prefer the Incredible for a couple reasons:

- Better specs (in some areas)
- Able to turn off Sense and rock the Native Android w/ Live Wallpapers. So basically you'd have two phones in one without hacking/modding.

I'd get the Nexus One..........idk about all of you guys but it would be the smart choice for me. Then hopefully the HTC Incredible would release within 30 days (with all the speculation and everything i feel pretty confident if it doesn't come in a week or anything then it will atleast come within a month)

Just my .02 cents. Have a great device like the Nexus One while waiting out for an even great device the HTC Incredible. The HTC Incredible should release within a month of the Nexus One anyway, hopefully.....

I agree!

The general consensus is that the phone will NOT be called the Incredible. Also, most people seem to agree that the sales reps do not get a lot of notice before a phone is actually annonced/released.

Plus, unless the person has no interest in keeping their job, they aren't just going to blurt out the information if you straight up ask about the Incredible.

Best plan? Tell them you are looking at new phones, wondering what they've got coming out. Then say something like, "Oh I heard about this new phone coming out....I forget what it's called...I remember the numbers 6300...."

Try to catch them off guard ;)

Gee Nash, no announcement yesterday? I can't believe it. I thought you were certain it was being announced yesterday, where is it? Where's the info on the magic HTC box in some VZW store in Montana? The Incredible will be announced but not at CTIA because the EVO has the hype and the spotlight. Some of you guys are like battered women, coming back to VZW to keep getting punched in the face. Pitiful. Go buy a Droid and be done with it.

First of all I havent been on here long either, but still.....I'm sick of people with barely any posts coming on here and insulting people that have been on this forum since NOVEMBER and bashing the people waiting for this phone. Nash and Montana man have been amazing here how dare you.

HA!

I could use my Psychic Paper to convince them I work for HTC and to turn over any '6300 boxes' as there may be some missing literature!

:D

I was going to call my local VZW store and pretend to be an HTC rep and just say I'm calling to confirm that you received the 6300 box. But, my number is listed and I didn't want it showing up on their caller ID. Maybe someone else can try that.

there are plenty of other names that start with an "e" that they can use. however, i think the eris was only disappointing to us, not the general public.

HTC Exige

Also, I heard the eris had some bugs with it, that any user would face. That is why I don't think they'd never want to keep the eris name.

Okay, here I go, two comments. As far as the person who mentioned someone possibly referring to the Incredible as Eris. My take on that is it is very possible, plausible for the Incredible to adopt the Eris name. 1. As many have mentioned before with Eric going EOL very soon it could be a replacement. A fantastic replacement at that. 2. The sku of the Eris is 6200, while the Incredible should be 6300. 3. It is beneficial to build off a previously used name, especially if it has done relatively well. By doing that, when a new product is introduced the average customer would gravitate towards it because it contains a name they are familiar with rather than something foreign.

And for my other comment. Montana Man you are my hero. Can I have your babies?

That is just devious. I like it.

You can dial *67 then the phone number to call and it will block the number
ex *67 (XXX)XXX-XXXX or *67 XXX-XXXX

It's way too early to call a successor to the Eris, ala Eris 2 (or whatever). Even if the phone is going EOL April 1, I can't see them announcing the Eris 2 barely 6 months post release. Seems like that would confuse people more than anything, what if someone hated the eris, they would have zero interest in a successor of the same name.

Well we know it won't be called the Incredible but it will still be the ADR6300. Promising to know MM's friend referring to it as the 6300 box.

Well, I've been so busy today that unlike other days, where I lurk constantly, this is my first visit here to the Incredible thread today.

It's definitely disappointing. But the weird thing for me is....I'm starting to distance myself emotionally from this phone and Verizon. It's like I'm contemplating a break up of sorts! :D The point I want to make is....every time you want something in life...especially material things...the biggest thrill comes in the waiting and then in the initial stages of getting that particular item. But the thrill never really lasts. Now I know nobody asked for Philosophy 101...but I'm just saying... a cool phone will come eventually! And until then your only option is to wait or make the best decision you can now. If it takes three more...or 6 more months...you'll survive. And more options are surely on the way. Who knows...you may be waiting for the Shadow if they wait too long to release this phone? I personally think it's a bad move to deny Verizon customers what they want. I may end up staying with Sprint now and getting the EVO. If Verizon wants new customers or to retain the ones they have their going to have to stay competitive. So the race is not over...but it's a real bitc* coming here and finding that no news has arrived. At least one positive thing will come of this...I will come here a bit less...and post a lot less too! :p
