Siyah kernel - Dummies Guide

It's a common bug. I've gone back to 3.5.2 for now as i find this one to be the most stable to date.

Beta 4 is up

Cheers Shotty!

Beta 4... it's like a game of musical chairs. Such is the nature of beta testing though.

Just recently, I reverted back to Siyah 3.5.2 as this proved the best for me to-date.

However, on the grounds that Syd does not seem to have got his sticky hands on these new betas... I think I'll give beta 4 a go. ;)

Is it any good butty?

Early days yet but so far no problems. Am tempted to try beta 3 now, to see how that fairs. Like the new CWM Recovery. GPS is very accurate for me, even indoors.

Oh well... no FC's or reboots on beta 4 in an hour of giving it a thrashing... beta 3... here I come. :ahhhhh:

(in case anyone is wondering why I'm going backwards in the betas... see the xda developers thread for Siyah, from here, onwards)

Beta 4 seems to have also fixed the applications in the battery status screen.

Too early to say if the l2-hsic wakelock had been fixed so i will keep an eye on it...

Better wait for final version. Updating every half an hour is turning me crazy. How many betas before final release?
Thanks

were you not around in the GB days?
in those days, not only did we have betas left right and centre, we also had to contend with NEAK Ninphetamine and Void!

Having a strange issue on beta4 with BBS regarding kernel wakelocks.
All I get is a "no reference since...." message

partial wakelocks and alarms are reporting fine

Edit: A plug/unlpug of the charger has rectified this.

Out all day and missed all the action. Time to get KODDing......

SiyahKernel S2-v4.1beta5 is now available:

as beta4 with:
update beta4 -> beta5: gesture support by Tungstwenty (sample flashable zip) here is the XDA thread. some minor fixes in ExTweaks. swappiness set to 90 (effective only if you are using zram or swap).

I forsee this gesture feature to be a BIG one, especially if they work in the lockscreen+homescreens
I will have to look into this....
:)

Beta 6 now buddy! Too busy with jaliy to keep up?

Edit. Just looked at that gesture page on xda. Too complicated for my simple brain. Look forward to your feedback Hawker.

I've been busy configuring my gestures Syd!
:)

These gestures are excellent.
They do not work on the lockscreen as I expected, but I've put a request in to Gok/Tungstwenty.

Currently got my browser and camera accessible through gestures. Its really snappy and a brilliant idea in my opinion.

EDIT: They DO work on the lockscreen, its just that after you have made the gesture you need to then unlock the screen and your gesture will be there ready waiting for you.

What Syd meant to say, was...

SiyahKernel S2-v4.1rc1 is up! :D

See, here, for changelog.

Download file seems to be empty at the moment.

Sorry, lazy post! If you go back to genetic Siyah folder on his download page, the file is there.

Admit it Syd.... you just got very excited! ;)

Looking at that changelog, I think I'll hang fire for the time being on this release. I'm currently on 3.5.2, which is OK for me at the moment, on Android 4.0.3.

Gokhan has said it still needs a lot of work. He had also reverted back a to a few versions previous for linux sources, as this may fix the problem of apps not appearing in the battery screen, amongst other things.

I wonder who may have mentioned that to him! :hmmmm:

Can't download the file. I think is a domain problem because no file can be downloaded now. Please, let me know if I can get it somewhere else and if it is worth installing it or should wait for a newer release.

Thanks,
Glore2002.-

Edit: Now it works. Downloadinnnnnnng
