@VZWoffers I'm really considering moving to another carrier. EVERY other carrier has announced next gen android. What about you !?!

VZWOffers

@MarceloPomeranz Hey Marcelo, we'd hate to see you leave ... you want Android phones? You will get them :-)

Take it for what its worth. We keep seeing these open ended promises.
I appreciate your effort, but it's honestly worth nothing. We all know we ARE getting them. The question we're interested in is when.

I wouldn't classify it was spam. If we send e-mails simply stating that we are interested in rumored new phones and asking if we might get some more information on said phones, that's hardly harassment. That's a legitimate query.

He's not referring to legitimate queries. He's talking about bombarding Twitter accounts with tons and tons of tweets. Of course he isn't talking about legitimate questions and messages. It's obvious that he was talking about anything that could be considered harassment.

The first and last phone that i bought in a verizon store with a 2 year contract was the Motorola razr ...and i think verizon was the last to get it as well...

EDIT: Actually it wasn't even in a verizon store...i bought it at BestBuy for $200 with a 2 year contract like the day after it was released.

Verizon had a phone that was better than the razr though. It had all of it's capabilities and could hold a memory card. The razr was pointless because it was a phone with 20mb free and no card slot that could play video and mp3s.

Verizon hasn't been that bad. Alltel often was worst, and NTellos just sucked it hard when it came to phones.

If I have to wait until May for the Incredible......I will just wait the extra month and get the rumored iphone on VZW if that exists. This whole android experience, so far, is leaving a bad taste in my mouth already. But then again, I have had to hang out and wait for VZW in the past, so maybe I should just chalk this up to one fact: Verizon Sucks When it Comes to Launching New Hardware!!!! Instead of VZW having a finger on the pulse of its customers, it has it up their asses.

Yeah, I agree w/ this sentiment. My bro and I have both been waiting to pull the trigger on Android phones since the Droid was in the works, but we didn't like its form. So a few Passion rumors later we are still sitting here. I told him that if this thing was almost available as of CTIA, we might as well wait a couple more months to see what Apple did. Given the current desert of info from Verizon, that's exactly what I intend to do. They always suck when it comes to timing strategy.

LTE is great and I'm excited, but a few things worry me in the beginning.. There are rumors the phones will be bigger/heavier (because of the hardware, chips, etc), they will drain the battery like whoa, the (most likely) change in price of data plans, etc. I probably won't jump on LTE right away, I don't even own a smartphone yet lol. But I don't want some big @ss brick phone that weighs a ton and only lasts 8 hours, ya know?

Problem is that the general consumer is not hungry because they are spoon fed all of the crap the carrier can dish. People don't really care about any phone other than the iphone. It's sad but true. If verizon does release the iphone then no one will care about anything else and they will have no reason to release new handsets.

I have to disagree with the iphone doing great on verizon. Oh sure there will be a ton of people happy, but will anybody from this forum go to it? Android in many ways is already better than the iphone, also in a lot of areas such as pinch to zoom, Iphone is still far superier. For me I like staying with the underdog with this one. I feel like the open source Android will Devour the Iphone in the end.

Even though Iphone is at the pinacle right now, For years everyone has wanted the next iphone killer. They don't have to look very far, Android is already here. It will make a difference as to what specs each brings to the table, but if the iphone comes across to Verizon with the same old phone, poeple looking for something different will turn the other way. I feel like an open source phone, with basically a free app store has unlimited potential over the iphone.

And if you don't beleive me, Google how to jailbreak Iphones and you will see several ways and poeple that do it to get a new app store called cydia. I know with Android you can root it out, basically the same thing, but iphone users do it to do some of the same functions that Standard Android users can already do. Plus there App Store is locked by what Apple wants you to have, not necesarily what you want.:D

Right, but the language of his post made it seem like posting a VZW Exec's e-mail here was ban-worthy. I don't see why. As long as people are only e-mailing with legitimate questions, what's the problem? It's simply making the higher-ups aware that we are interested in some imminent releases.

Also, as I said, a Google search could garner that information, so posting it here really isn't that big of a deal?

I spoke to VZ Public Relations. They don't like the internet leaks because they say it's not fair to us for this very reason. It gets our hopes up before they are ready to release, before they feel a phone is ready. Good point.

Well, I beleive there is a bigger reason.

They don't want people like me to hold off on buying an Eris today because I know/think something is coming out very soon.

I don't think we are talking about bombing someone's twitter or email. These are PUBLIC COMPANIES with emails and twitter handles made just for the public.

I don't think people emailing/twittering legitimate concerns/customer complaints is a problem.

And quite frankly, I think its NONE OF THE MODERATORS business.

I don't think people are talking about sending multiple messages with crap in them (sorry no time to catch up on 50 pages) , but rather everyone voice their opinion to VZW.

Every other carrier has already gone through the approval process and made their phone offerings public. VZW is lacking.

Whether it be because they don't want to announce it or because it isn't ready... its the same issue. They should have been ready. CTIA was no surprise.

Mods should keep the forum on topic and keep people from doing something illegal or harassing other members. Mods shouldn't be keeping members from organizing or from posting freely available info.

Brick phone. LOL. You're buying into the AT&T propoganda? Spoken like a true competitor that's behind in coverage and technology.

+1, exactly what I'm trying to say. NOBODY has suggested spamming any emails/Twitters. Yes, the word "bomb" was used, but not in the sense of just sending them senseless emails full of gibberish. It was used in the sense of ALL of use organizing and sending emails to higher-ups so that our thoughts might be heard by somebody who actually matters, rather than a minimum-wage earning CSR in the middle of nowhere.

Again, the basis for my response is not the forum travelers, jailbreakers of the world, but for joe/jane blow walking down the street who doesn't know android from a hole in the ground. I will never buy apple and love android to death as do many of the more enthusiast consumers. I completely agree with you about your comments, but please keep in mind the domain from which I form my opinion.

I can see a VZW user getting response to a legit complaint. That said, the chances on a useful response to a request for more info on a strong internet rumor might be a long shot :(

Oh, yes, I agree with you - just putting it out there for the folks whose strategies are to strongarm VZW into an answer. :)

And to clarify if anyone wondered - there are 3 categories of submission on Planet Feedback - praise, complaint, or a general comment, so if anyone was going to use that form of communication, you don't have to submit it as a complaint.

Brick-type? :o Reason I didn't get a droid. Didn't like the form factor at all. If I HAD to get a phone today it'd be the Eris, hands down.

FOR ME personally, I don't need something that is top of the line in specs. I want it to look good, and have decent specs, but I won't use the phone as much as most of you on here. The reason I don't get an Eris is because I know it's on the way out and the Incred. is coming.

I want the phone to be pretty fast and smooth. No lag and not sluggish. Easy to use is always nice as well. Why I think HTC sense would be good for me. I don't plan on rooting the phone or any of that. I also probably won't have that many Apps. Maybe 35 tops and only like 10 I'll use on a regular basis.

My needs are a lot different than someone elses.

UPDATE FROM VZW

I stopped in at my local VZW with every intention to pick up the moto droid for 30 days and this is what I found out from the manager.

Don't expect to get the $149/199 deal in store. (The phone is $309 out the door with $100 mail in rebate)

You do NOT have 30 days you have 15 days.

If you talk over 60min on the phone you pay a $35 restock fee

Incredible update

-She knew no details of the phone but had heard of it.
-She was really open with what they had in stock
-Stated they always get test phones about 2 weeks in advance and she has none.
-Stated the corporate/regional office hadn't even received any new HTC phones and they would get it first.
-Suggested I should hold out another month or two if I really want the HTC.
-Suggested if I want the Droid I should order it online to save me $.

She gets an A+ in my book!

You can thank the good people here in my local Florida VZW for this update.

needless to say I didn't blow $300 for 15 days, 60min talk time, and the bs of a return.

The Galaxy S has very fast internals and a 4" screen and still only weighs 118 grams. Also, faster processors usually are the same dimensions and adding ram often is same size/weight memory that holds more. besides the need for better batteries, they don't need to weigh more.

I think you're right, in regards to enthusiasts. The vast majority of people don't know or care about all of the things discussed in here every day though. When they see the iPhone available they'll buy it. Nothing wrong with that of course. The more choices we get the better. My choice just happens to be the Incredible if they can get it to me before my Krzr finally gives out! :)

The higher ups don't care what we want, and sending them numerous messages won't get them to release this phone any sooner. They are on a schedule that is set in stone. Companies like Verizon Wireless don't just haphazardly release phones. This release has been internally planned and set for a long time now. It's called a business plan. They have to stick to it. There are too many entities involved to just decide to release a phone out of the blue. It all has to be pre-planned for advertising, marketing, testing, production, etc. Emailing them isn't going to get an answer. Because we are just a small percentage of the Verizon customer base. Probably about 1% or less. They have bigger things to worry about than us wanting a phone. They have to make money and have a game plan to maximize profits as much as possible. If this phone hasn't released yet, it's for good reason from a financial prospective for Verizon Wireless and it's share holders. Nothing person towards you, but that's just the facts.

True, but don't you think that they know that YOU KNOW that you have a 30 worry free guarantee and can return it at anytime? Just thinking out loud.

That's good, I hadn't checked that phone out. I did check out the EVO tho. That Samsung sounds nice.
