I just wanted to know if I had a healthy battery... Sometimes I feel like it's draining too quick, but then again, I never had a smartphone before so I've no idea what to expect.

I keep reading all the battery related threads and some people I see Screen on top with a hella' battery left on 1d +... And I get jealous :/ lol...

So here are screen shots... How's my battery and how is yours?

Looks decent. As long I can pull the phone off the charger when I wake up, and not have to worry about a charger until I lay down, then I'm content. Longest I've been was like 1 day 16 hours with like 20% left.

What is the brightness of your screen set to? If its been on for almost 4 hours and it isnt taking the top spot above standby Id have to assume almost all the way down.

Looks fine. It can be hard for screen to overtake cell standby when cell is being calculated incorrectly by 10 times (multiplied)

Automatic... it's always in the middle though, sometimes very bright for a minute or 2.

Also, I put up the apps and number of times awake... And maps app is on top. I have gps enabled, but maps is disabled. What could be the reason the app keeps waking my phone?

Also, is it normal for Android System to have 4000 wake locks?

Are you signed into Latitude, that can be a big drain on your battery, especially if you have GPS enabled

I've attached some screenshots of one day on my Galaxy S3. Is my battery drain reasonable? This was a typical day if I remember correctly.

Thanks!

Latitude is part of maps, you can use it to see where your friends/contacts are.

Open Maps and click on the layers tab ( bottom right ). if Latitude is ticked then its enabled. Just untick if you don't use it

Google has absolutely FAILED on its ability to control the Maps app they created IMO...i can disable all of the apps auto start instances and it still will wake up my phone...

part of the problem (i believe) is that all "location services" wake locks get bundled into the "Maps" category...either way...if i don't activate Maps at all during a day, as far as im concerned...it should do NOTHING...total failure on Google's part IMO...

What do you mean? Mine always says screen is on top. That is unless Im not really using it much like over the weekend.

I have absolutely no idea why... Well, actually I kind of have a slight clue as to why, but my battery has been DYING EXTREMELY FAST. Like, before I could easily get a day of 12 hours with heavy use (4.5 - 5 hours screen time at variable brightness). However recently I download an app via the net; it was a keyboard app from this website... Install Stock Android 4.0 Keyboard on Galaxy S3, Should Work with Other Devices as Well
a
Anyway I'm not 100% sure that this non-market app download is the culprit. Here are some stats from today:

Screenshot_2012_08_26_12_33_20.png

This is by no means normal use for me and to be completely honest I was being modest in my use meaning 0% screen brightness. The screen on time at that point was 2 hours and 40 minutes. Hm. Not usual.

Later on in the day at 2:29 PM the phone was down to 18% and I had literally had it on standby for a long period up to that point. I did some LIGHT, like feather-weight, 4G surfing on 100% brightness but I was outside so sue me. I had 4G/Wi-Fi/GPS off for the duration of the time I wasn't using the phone so those couldn't be the culprits. Anyway, I'm really disappointed as to my amateur decision to download a non-market app but then again I'm not entirely sure if that is even the problem. Could someone help please??

Btw, I'm coming from a Droid Razr Maxx so saying that this phone had good battery is really saying something! - I'm saying it!

Hope someone can help me out...

Yes mine too, but only if you use the screen a lot. In international gsm there is a miscalculation in battery stats whereby its calculated at 10x its actual value

The battery on my GS3 is just phenominal. With my old Mytough 3G slide, I had to charge it at around 2pm and god forbid I left wifi or bluetooth on by accident. I could easily go a few days without charging. I did recently. My daughter borrowed my charging cord and then put it back without plugging it in. I didn't notice this for two days until my phone went down to 30%.

Quite pleased with today's results.

Sure, people get better but this is the best I've done. I don't use the screen this much normally. Bear in mind this is a full day, which is all I need.

My Gmail is pushing, WIFI on, GPS on, Exchange manual, Tasker running. Lots of Tapatalk today. Also, a fair bit of Tasker testing going on.

How in the hell are you getting 6 hours screen on... Were u constantly using it continously?

Also, what are your settings on? And what are your settings when you turn screen off? Aka are you turning wifi/data off or do you have apps running (I have juice defender)...

I can barely ever make 4 hours screen time on my phone lol

Here's what I ran yesterday. I would say moderately used (lots of texting, some web, some games and other messing around). I keep my screen brightness at about 50%, and run a live wallpaper, and this was a bit over 3 hours screen time. I do wonder why my Google Maps is taking 5% of the battery when I didn't use it once yesterday... I noticed it running in the background at one point and killed it. Anyone know why Maps would run for no particular reason?

Do you have gps enabled? Maybe there is an app running that's using the maps app...

Usually after I use maps I quit it so it doesn't run in the back... Because sometimes I feel like it does. My gps is always enabled, but maps never really takes any of my battery.

As you can see from the graph, everything is running. Nothing is turned off when I turn the screen off. I have no apps to turn anything off. You can also see when my screen was on and off too.

I use minimum brightness when I dont need any more than that. I DO NOT use autobrightness.

I am rooted so I will be getting slightly better battery life from that too.

Yeah I never turn off my GPS, but the thing is, I never even opened Maps yesterday to begin with, so that's why it really caught me off guard that it was running and draining battery. Unless like you said that some app I'm using is enabling Maps but I can't imagine which one it is.

My gps is always on. Other than maps, Facebook calls gps. So does the mobile version of the Google site

I knew certain apps called GPS (Facebook, Google, etc.) but didn't realize that actually called up Maps as a process in doing so, although I guess that would make sense! I was thinking maybe it was my weather widget and/or live wallpaper but I guess it's just the gps initialization when I open certain apps...
