Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

They've announced developer editions for upcoming phones, and also said that 2011 phones will be upgraded with Jelly Bean "soon."

Here's a pic of the "new Motorola Razr family":

First one (middle) is the Razr HD. 4.7-inch display, "78 percent more pixels than the RAZR, 85 percent more color saturation than the iPhone 4S." Dual-core processor, new Moto skin much less intrusive, will be closer to stock Jelly Bean than TouchWiz or Sense. 2,500mAh battery.

Second (left) is the Razr MAXX HD. Same size, "even more amped up battery" and 32GB of storage space.

Third (right) is the expected Droid Razr M - 4.3-inch with "almost no borders." I guess that's about as close to bezel-less as we'll get.

2,000 mAh battery on the Razr M. Not bad, seems like a solid mid-range phone. Wish they'd specified the exact size of the battery on the Razr MAXX HD though.

Razr M available for $99 next week. Wow. Razr HD in stores "before the holidays." It'll need to compete with the iPhone, won't bode well IMO.

Next announcement: Motorola will be offering $100 credit to owners of devices that don't get Jelly Bean upgrade.

Finally, they're handing out review units to the attendees, hopefully we'll see some reviews popping up soon.

Second - developer editions of phones as long as you're not on Verizon. I'm sure.
Unfortunately I was just following the liveblogs, not actually listening :/ If they mentioned whether they'd be carrier-specific or not, I didn't see. I think all we can hope is that they won't come to Big Red months later after the standard model phones release, like the Razr developer version.

It could very well end up being like the original razr all over again. Release the base razr, milk sales for a couple of months, then release the max to make more money. Verizon will probably allow the dev versions, but in no way will subsidise them.

Meh...I watched the whole press conference live and when I saw Google's presence there, I was super excited. When I saw the "New" Motorola I was super excited...

After the reveal I am pretty disappointed....on another hand, I was really REALLY impressed with the new Nokia phones. The camera, screen, and nfc/wireless charging functionality better make its way to Android!

O.M.G.

I am in lust with a piece of technology, folks:

Amazon.com: Acer TimelineU M5-581TG-6666 15.6-Inch Ultrabook (Gun Metal Gray): Computers & Accessories

After being attached to a bulky old Lenovo Y510 Ideapad for the last three years, I am just flat-out amazed that they can squeeze more computer into this little bit of space!

I want this thing. I NEED this thing. And the amazing part is: by the time I have the money set aside (and the Darling Bride's permission) to BUY this thing, something ever BETTER will be out!

So when does the info for the new Nexus devices start rolling in? I'm very curious to see what's coming out!

Morning all...just checking in and getting caught up again....

Looks like we are leaning towards actually moving to Austin...kind of an odd and rather scary thought. Only thing holding us back now is kids...since they will be staying here, and our custody will change so dramatically.

Decision time is next week.

On another note...all of our wedding plans are falling into place. Looks like we only have the rest of the music to figure out...but almost everything else is done. Woo Hoo!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great-short week!!

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.

Need a help from the experts. Wife's Stock VZW Gnex went through the laundry (found it as I was transferring to dryer:rolleyes:) Anyways, dried the phone for a couple days in rice, reinstalled battery and SIM (switched her to HDC Incredible in the meantime) Everything worked great that I could try out (screen, BT, wifi, speaker etc) Called to reactivate and no luck, tried new SIM at VZW store, no luck, swapped my sim over, no luck. System reset didn't help either.

Had a techie friend of a friend tell me I may want to try to "load a factory RUU image/firmware using Odin". You guys/girls think this will help or is the hardware hosed? I'm willing to take it apart again and replace a part if that would do the trick. I'm mechanically inclined but not super computer programming saavy.

I don't want to give up yet on a device that seems sooooooo close to fully functional.

This stuff is Greek to me and any link/search help would be crazy awsome.

Thank you all!!

I suggest unlock and root it and then load up a custom ROM. Warranty is already gone and doing all of that will have the same effect as loading a factory image, but with added benefits.

Morning everyone!
Ryan I hope all goes smoothly and works out the best way for everyone.
Yungster - welcome and good luck. These guys/gals in here are super helpful.

Good Morning all, Company is all gone and life is back to normal, a relative term I know, but none the less normal. Good luck on the final decision Ryan and glad you are almost done with all the planning. Geek, like the new name and the avatar, cute dog! Welcome Yungster! Hey Chief, that Acer looks great. RS, love the RSS, thanks for doing it! Also, found this interesting; my sister in law just got a smart phone. They had four phones on their plan, 3 dumb and her daughter in laws i phone (with only 300mb of data). She did not have data on her line. Verizon sold her the subsidized razor max, let her add 2 gigs of data for $30. They did not force them into the share everything, which would have been more expensive.

Morning all :) Ryan, congrats on making the decision, I bet you'll find that it was the hardest part. Very best of luck with the move and putting the final preparations on your wedding plans.

EDIT: 1600 posts :)

Sounds like a plan, 3 easy steps eh? :)

Welcome to Android Forums and welcome to the Watering Hole! :)

"3 easy steps"? Well, 3 steps, anyway. It depends on how you do it.

I used Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit with great success on my Nexus. It will backup your stuff to the PC (because you WILL lose everything), unlock the phone, root it, put ClockworkMod custom recovery on it, and even restore all your stuff BACK to the phone.

I would respectfully suggest JBSourcery 2.2 as a ROM to replace the Verizon operating system. It has just about any customization you want (just don't get lost in the choices!). We'll talk about changing your kernel out later.

Make sure you read up here:

And ask questions BEFORE you do anything!

Many thanks on the link!! Is there anything simpler/faster I can do to get the standard stock software reinstalled so that I can ensure it's not corrupted? Wife has no use for the custom stuff, no offense phandroids ;)

I'm really trying to eliminate the possibility of a software issue. If it's a hardware issue I guess I'd buy a part or broken phone from ebay potentially....hate to go that route needlessly as this one seems in great shape.
