Eris to v2.x, when?

Will 2.1 get rid of all the annoying foreign customers who can't pronounce the difference between "iPod" and "iPad" (eye-pod vs like... eye p-had) ??

I believe the Eris wont see the update tell after the HTC Incredible is released. This phone is identical to the Eris in a lot of ways, The BIGGEST is that the Incredible is running 2.1 sense. I think that verizon was excepting the Incredible to be released in the Q1 then after the release the Eris would get the update but IDK just trying to put things together.

I wish we would just get the OTA already! I would really prefer to wait for the official release but as it seems to be no where in site I'm so tempted to just use the leaked =/

(warning....possible dumb question here....)

will the official OTA version, whenever released, override any installed 'leaked' 2.1 version on my phone, and if so, will there be any major surgery required (by me), or will it be a simple process?

thanks.

Don't worry bout a thing if it doesnt update there is stll the same method that you used to flash the leak 2.1 or The RUU from personal communications

I have been reading all the post's and I just have 1 question. I have the newest 2.1 ROM downloaded and all I have to do is put the zip file on my SD card, shut down and hit the Vol+ and power and ask if it wants to update press trackball center ?

Thanks

1. place the PB00IMG.zip in the root of your sdcard (DONT UNZIP PB00IMG.zip)

2. back up all important data contacts synced with google will transfer over when you sign into your google account.

3. shut down phone

4. start phone with "power+volume down" at the same time

5. let it load the PB00IMG.zip

6. when it asks to press action to update it means press trackball center or power key quickly.

7. it will take <10 minutes to boot the first time

8. go through the google setup wizard as usual and ENJOY

Bad Frog,

That's it? Will my Eris be able to sync with windows? Will I get back all my contacts and calender and will I be able to receive the OTA 2.1 from Verizon?

Thanks

-Tony

if your contacts are stored with google, they will auto sync, if you use outlook, you need to install the HTC client (at least that's how I do it), but it does sync, I tested it this afternoon.
there is a whole thread on syncing with outlook, http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/15396-my-tutorial-syncing-eris-outlook-without-google.html

no one is 100% sure on the OTA, since none of us have had it happen, but if you can't get it over the air, you can download it and flash it this way again.

Bad Frog,

Thanks for all your help. I feel better and i will try this tonight.

good luck... take the time to read through these threads, there is a lot of good information. most any question or problem you have or may have has probably been answered.

try rebooting it, long press end call, select power off, then start it back up. pull the battery if all else fails.
