Whos going back to stock for the OTA?

Why not? If you were willing to root and get a ROM, why not go back to stock and try out the new update?
 
Certainly not going back to stock just for the update. Even if the OTA update has something that roms dont(which is almost definitely does not) it will get into the roms in a few days.
 
He's referring to dmupdater, which contains roms for droidmod 1.0 and a 2.0.1 stock rom. I'm fairly sure rommanager from the market would work quite well also.
 
i prefer to stay on my cyanogen build. maybe after this new release has a root exploit found and some nice roms are cooked from it i will flash it. but for now i just don't see any huge benefits. i will however update my wifes droid when she get notified.
 
My dmupdater is working now. I've done it before but I totally forgot how long it takes.

It's going to SUCK going back to a plain vanilla OS after running this awesome NextBeast v0.9 (I think that's the name of the rom on my phone, lol) and other great roms like BB.

However, I just wouldn't feel right knowing I didn't have the "official" update on my phone (and, yes, I know the ESE81 will be available in a ROM but... whatever).
 
i dunno. i might i might not. i dont see a point since my rom has more than the update is offering but since we dont get updates everyday i might just do it then turn around and go back to stock and root again lol

im on the fence tho
 
I can't decide, I love my phone the way it is (Nexbeast .9 OC'd to 1ghz)...but I almost feel obligated to try it out the way "it's supposed to be." My biggest concern is the noticeable CPU speed decrease when I lose my OC...bleh
 
so... would doing the DMupdater method be better than using RSDLite? And, Is DMupdater compatible with a CyanogenMod based droid?

I wouldnt do RSDLite. Since you are on cm you can use rom mananger or flash a rom that dmupdater will work with.

I doubt the decrease in speed will even be noticeable. I've run all of my roms (everything from BB v0.9 to Cyanogen) at stock speeds with no lag. A few times I OC'd my ESE53 roms but I always ended up back at 550mhz because they seemed to run smoother there.

I'm sorry to hear that. Running 1200mhz is ridiculously faster than stock for me.
 
So Rom manager didn't work for me. It gave me an error and since I wiped data, i'm back to a freshly rooted Droid. I don't even want to bother installing anything yet until I get back to stock. If RSD Lite isn't recommended, and I no longer have Rom Manager.. what are my other options?
 
I'm not. My friend/coworker just got his Droid last week. He waited to root until he got the update and has time to check it out. So I'll just play around with his and wait for an rom that cooks in the new build...Besides, I want to try Desire X2 when it's released...

**EDIT** Just realized my wording makes it look like he got the update, he has not. I just meant when he gets it, I can play around with his...
 
meh, staying with root, makes no sense to root and then unroot for update, cyanogen is a great rom and done it for me
 
I just finished unrooting. Back to stock 2.0.1. Since the OTA contains MOST of the features that I want, I'm not sure that I will root again in the future (I probably will though just for the custom themes).
