I guess the update.zip didn't magically re-appear?![]()

I think that's to remove root etc?
I did the factory reset from the manual. I was not rooted.
It literally reset it back to the way it was when I picked it up in november.
I think that image is stored on the phone somewhere...in case the shit hits the fan. /shrug
Copy it to the root of your sd card then click on it in a file manager on the phone.just for reference...
how do we force the phone to update once someone uploads the update.zip ?
Someone knowledgable will get their hands on the upgrade.zip file. Have faith.
It's March Madness for real! Which android site will be the first to get it??? Place your bets people!!!![]()

I don't think a factory reset would revert your software from 2.1 back to 2.0. Once you update to 2.1, a factory reset would just wipe all your data and reset 2.1. What do I know though....

Factory reset just formats the Data and Cache partitions. Not system partition. If you did have 2.1 installed and did a factory reset, then you will be on 2.1, not 2.0.1.
Couple ways to get back to 2.0.1:
1. Had to root your 2.1, then used Nandroid Backup to restore a stock 2.0.1
2. Had 2.0.1 update.zip file
I miss my Gallery.
/sob
That's what I figured. I called Verizon and asked them first, and of course, the stupid CS rep was like, "Of course sir, your phone will update back to 2.1 after you factory reset".
/rolls eyes
Shows how much they know, but I surmised that was the case before I did it. Like I said, 2.0.1 ran MUCH better on my phone, and right now...I'm happy...just miss my new Gallery.![]()
Or use RSDlite to flash the factory image back...

Try dialing *#*#checkin#*#* from your phone.

I will be posting a VERY detailed guide on how to do this. Stay tuned.
I fully trusted OP earlier, but a factory reset does not change the OS version. I am suspicious now.
Yeah you're right, I was just blowing smoke up your ass.
I had no reason to not believe you and I was really hopeful for this thread, but there is no other logical explanation for it. I am not exactly saying that you did not get 2.1 but perhaps you did not want to revert your update for the community but also wanted to seem like you were helping. I don't want to get into an argument about this and maybe you aren't lying. I guess only time will tell.Yeah you're right, I was just blowing smoke up your ass.
Looks like the .sbf filename is:

File name would be https://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.QSC6085BP.zip ?
It's not there now, so don't even bother trying...

He has 200+ posts here. I do not believe he is lying. Lying about something like this means a "ban". I do not think he would jeopardize his account like this.![]()
