Root Battery Life

I have a HTC evo and my phone is rooted but my battery life sucks. I can charge it all the way up and get on the phone for 5mins and my battery would be at 50%.

First thing I'd do is go into the battery settings and look at the graph to determine if you have a wake lock.

Also, EVO's are getting pretty up there in age. Have you tried simply replacing the battery? That could do wonders, but if you've recently replaced it with a cheap chinese made one that could very well be the problem

How would I go about trying to see if I have a wake lock? I took my girl battery cause her phone is not rooted and I still have the same problem and she took mine so I know its not the battery itself.

There's a graph in your power settings

I don't have your device anymore so I don't know the exact path

At 100% my phone would die in 26m and 14s on battery. My girl has the same phone and hers say 1d 3h 23m and 5s on battery idk what to do with my phone. My display is at 76% that is way to high. WHAT CAN I DO ANYBODY KNOW?????

Have you tried flashing a different rom and calibrating the battery after flashing to see if that would make a difference?

depending on the rom you are on the setting can be found in either power like rxpert suggested or its it under battery. after that click on the battery use and it should give you a graph on what is running.

you might want to try a different kernel then the stock one that comes with mikg. you can get most kernels from here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/618281-list-utilities-apps-roms-kernels-og-evo.html. check out the second post. it has some info on roms and kernels as well.

also more things for you to read:

Naw Im still new to this kind of thing but how would I go about doing that

Well I do assume you know how to flash a Rom so I won't go into detail about about that lol. But to wipe battery stats, I'm not sure if the recovery you use gives you an option to wipe through recovery. Otherwise search for "battery calibration" in the market. Calibrate as soon as you flash a different rom. It could very well be the rom itself causing the major drainage issue. Possible a bad install.

Before flashing a new rom have tried a fresh install of your current rom along with wiping everything but sd card?

Try downloading BetterBatteryStats from the play store
Charge phone to 100% or so.
Open the app.
Confiugure the app to open showing partial wakelocks "since unplugged".

(not necessary, as you can select that when opening app anyways, but that's how I have it set when I open it)
Plug phone in for 5 seconds, then unplug.
Leave phone alone for 2 hours or so, then wake phone up and go into that app....it will tell you what the phone is using when screen is off (presumably asleep).:)

Edit: not all wakelocks are bad..just the apps/processes that are running too long when they shouldn't be
