Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

You sound like a girl:eek:

Jk.. he'll be fine. It didn't hurt his phone so it's not a big deal. Just costed a.few minutes to.reflash. and the update zip is already on his sd. It's ok. Accidents happen

I did a basic test with uot kitchen and it went threw with no errors i wasn't able to test the zip it made but I figured I would let every one know uot is working with the new kernel update

Dude, where are you:confused: I need to know if you reflashed the update, I'm sorry I told you those .zips were good without really checking all of them. :(

i actually flashed them before you told me >.< its okay i just reflashed and everything is good so dont worry (:

The one you have up now is working, so is the battery circle indicator, I flashed them both. After this update. seems to be working.

Yup. Circle clock is working for me as well and didn't change my toggles or anything. I tried it after seeing you did but kept the Rom version of the transparent status bar instead of flashing the black one. Maybe it's the black bar that's changing toggles

Yeah, I know. Just wished I didn't cause that guy more trouble. He already had enough tonight. Mr Bobo is the man. I just get excited sometimes and do dumb stuff. like last night with that kernal thing, and not having any rom on my sd card to flash!! I'm a dumb bitch sometimes!!!

You freaking crack me up! :D

Black bars contained in the system UI that's for the tacos are what time is in the framework res that's why is that 1 can be flashed

changing the titles fixie you OT issue

damn you autocorrect

f it I'm leaving it

EDIT: got home to my computer LOL... Toggles and top bar are in the SystemUI, so if you flash the black top bar zip you are flashing my old toggles back in. The battery is in the framework-res so flashing that will only revert a couple minor theme updates.

The UOT issues are worked out, they were due to some things that got changed for the old notification toggles port in the SystemUI so theming should be a lot easier for those of you who want to jump on UOT kitchen.

I will post a zip of the black bar today. Note that you can do it yourself on the kitchen now, but I know that's time consuming and confusing for some so I will post that one. I will let you all do your own circle clocks etc since those can also be easily done on the kitchen and since it's my ROM I get to choose what I want to support theme wise :)

Haha! Yes!

just thought I would share, I had some issues on the phone and am taking steps to get a clean install... practice what I preach LOL

I know you other ROMmers THEMErs MODders and general NEWbies know what I am talking about, when you flash stuff on your phone a lot and put all sorts of test stuff on the sd card, once in a while you just hose up everything.

Classic symptoms of a hosed up system are toggles not sticking, mms not working, buttons not lighting up, etc. (in my case toggles, search and home buttons not working)

Clean Install/Troubleshooting Steps:
  • clear SD card except what you are flashing, delete all folders/files
  • wipe data/factory reset
  • reflash ROM, reboot
  • reflash update(s), reboot
  • update prl and profile in settings menu, reboot
  • at this point it's ok to log into your google account and update system apps, but don't install anything new until after the next step
  • test everything (if issues now, it's software or hardware, likely hardware if problem is unique to you)

AFTER making sure everything works:

  • add/remove user apps/data
  • reflash bloatware, reboot
  • if new problem appears, it's your fault and your problem LOL

This process takes me about half an hour, I do it all the time. I don't use titanium to restore anything and don't restore data, used carefully titanium restores can save some time or bring back data you don't want to loose, but used improperly you can restore issues/conflicts very easily and again you are on your own as far as troubleshooting help goes at that point.

imagine that, not a single issue after following the steps above :)

I kept loopy smoothness and so far so good fyi... I will watch to see if my toggles get borked after a few days, interesting, maybe the new systemUi fixed that issue.

I know this may sound like a minor bug and yes I did flash to the newest V_1 just to make sure. But when the phone is plugged in and you have visible pattern to unlock it never correctly recognizes gestures. Like I said a minor thing but still a curious one.
Other then that working smooth as silk with the update.

Hi guys, Thanks for all the comments, made me feel better, Mr. Bobo, I'm doing the complete re install. Hell with it, I do have a bunch of junk on my sd card and phone memory. Keep ya posted.

But i'm sad about the battery indicator, and im not flashing the black status bar, I think it will look better all clear anyway.

on second thought, you have been such a good sport and positive on the threads I will update these two mods for you, it's really not a big deal to do it :)

Done, just waiting for the kitchen to finish cooking these, uploading shortly.

Edit: links in post three updated for new theme/toggles for black status bar and circle battery, enjoy!

What a swell fella :D

Hey bobo. I have a co-worker with a stock warp. There's only one link on the op. Well that link flash through cwm or stock recovery?
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes but I want to be certain before I do it

Yes, it can be flashed in stock, you will notice the first splash screen does not get replaced that way, but other than that everything flashes fine stock and they will be rooted with cwm and my ROM afterwords. Don't forget to boot once then install the update I put out yesterday.

Ok. Thanks:thumbup:

Man it was soo much more involved when we first got cwm and root:(

no one has mentioned if in-call volume seems louder now, to my ear it's about 20%-30% louder now, dtm re-worked some settings in the kernel that should have improved the call volume on the handset (not speaker phone, just normal)

let me know, I feel like I can actually turn the volume down slightly for once :)

One tip, when you have the phone against your face the display sleeps and the volume control does not work until you pull it away from your face again, never knew that until I started playing with this.

I notice a slight increase but not 20-30% unfortunately. I wish! Nonetheless some is better than none for sure

I know he really took the word "n00b" seriously. You're an awesome asset to the warp community MrBobo and I truly appreciate your time and work buddy

funny how things change in a year huh, I still remember my first day with the galaxy prevail back when shabbypenguin just released his first ROM for that phone, then came CT mod, then I got the warp right when it came out and worked as a tester for root, then cwm, then said what the hell, I think I can figure out how to deodex... the rest is history :) Two years ago I had never held an android phone in my hand...

I am still not a developer though, even now I have two development items that I am sure an actual dev could whip up in their sleep:

flashlight button on the notification toggles, we have a working script to turn the flashlight on and off, it was included in my update, but I don't know how to wire the button in the toggles up to the script.

Second is the nandroid backup that chev put out, also included in noob V, we have it all working, all I need is a button to run that in the settings menu or a button in the notification toggles, then we could do a nandroid backup at the touch of a button.

neither of these items are hard to use if you know your way around terminal emulator or script manager, but it irks me to not know quite enough to wire them up to the toggles...

things like that drive me crazy, I know just enough code to know it can be done and that it wouldn't be hard, but just not that last bit to do it.

so n00b it is... not that a n00b can't be brilliant though LOL

Yes I definitely noticed a big difference with the in-call volume.
DTM did his thing with this kernel!
