Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

See. You are smart. I followed your advice a few posts up and now I have it. If only I could incorporate it to the warp flashlight I'd be golden.

Thanks VC! :thumbup::D:cool:

Holy name change, Batman! I'm sorry lilbit!

It fits me, I told mercury last night, I'm 4ft 10.5 :o:mad:

Hey mrbobo things are running smooooth. I was having an issue where i would have to reboot in order to get wifi or 3g to work and so far after adding your updating, things have been running smooth as butter. No battery drain or funky wifi / 3g issue.

Awesome rom is awesome!

By popular demand, I'm gonna download this rom and try it out. Of course, I will read the thread along the way.

I installed this ROM on my phone, and I decided I just wanted to switch back to stock; since I was getting HORRIBLE battery life. I flashed back to stock, but I still have your Android Boot Screen. How in the world can I get that thing off? I've tried EVERYTHING.

Root explorer. System/media/bootanimation.zip ------ Delete.

I thought Mr. Bobo's bootup was cool.
Battery life? Maybe an app running in
background??

See post three for the stock splash screen zip, rom should not effect battery life try updating your prl and profile do you have good signal?

You have to transfer the stuff on your sd card to the computer. Then flash the Rom. Any custom Rom requires a data wipe. You can plug back in to the comp and move the sd files back after you flash and reboot the sd card.

Also you should back up your contacts by open the contacts, hit menu, then other or settings. But import/ export. Then export them to the sd. Some times Google account doesn't restore all contacts but this does.

As for the oc kernel. I can find you a link but fair warning, flashing the oc kernel will give you a few bugs that noob wouldn't have otherwise. And it doesn't enable swap for extra ram like Mr bobo set the Rom to have

Just plug her phone into your computer and copy everything over to it from her sd card. I do this every couple weeks to keep my backup up to date or just before installing a new sdcard so I can pull it back over to the sd and keep all my stuff. If she has games with data I would just root her first then install and run titanium backup to keep all her data then copy everything to the computer as a complete backup. Then flash the Rom and then bring all her info back over to the sd then run a titanium backup restore of user apps and data (either with batch or one by one)

No you should not restore data of apps. If your going to anyway do not restore system apps. And sometimes even restoring user app data will cause problems to. That's with any Rom.. I suggest only restoring user apps without data. If you choose to do otherwise you will end up on here asking for help and have to wipe your data again. Because keeping your data from Rom to Rom will make your phone trip out

Any more tips on the voice assistance
Edit so after a few reboots i guess something started workin cuz now one of the apps works fine so ignore previous complaint

One last thing is there a app that will lock my phone onto one tower like a toggle switch tower lock app or something?

2-4 bars (using the ICS signal bars) I've tried everything. Battery life was maybe 3-5 hours. Then on Stock it's about 12 hours. Then on the Shinjitsu ROM it's 15+ hours. That's the ROM I just switched back to. You have a VERY good ROM. I just couldn't sacrafice battery life for it. :// Plus your splash screen is cool, I'm sure you've put ALOT of work into this ROM. It just bugged me that I couldn't get your splash screen off.

I restore data on my user apps everytime and never have problems because of it but absolutely never on system apps. However, ZTE makes every phone different so I guess blanket statements of every kind should perhaps be avoided

Agreed smoothchaos. I have had trouble with restoring data and I know others that have as well. I'll admit I do restore data on a few apps but I never pinpointed which ones or one caused the problems. So I tend to avoid it. And I didn't want to advise it to uknow because he is new and if he by chance has problems after restoring data, I don't want it to scare him or think it has anything to do with the Rom. It's really not that hard to set all your apps back up after without restoring data. Bc it can but not always make your phone act really weird. Signs are lagging, bootlooping, force closing almost everything you open. There have been many threads with noobs scared out of there minds and a simple data wipe fixed it. You figure restoring app data is the same as not doing a wipe and clearing caches b4 flashing a new rom. User app data is wiped because it's in system. But whatever he decides to do we will be here to provide a solution if it acts up:cool:
