Just went into my local VZW store in Philadelphia. Spoke to a salesperson in the store who had no problem giving me information about the Incredible.
Bottom line: the Incredible is WAY better than the Nexus One and worth waiting for. Will be out sometime within the next two weeks (before April 15)
The salesperson said that he has actually held the phone and played around with it and is personally going to get it the day it comes out. Said that the phone is all black and has a better camera than the Nexus One.
While this is information isn't anything entirely new, hearing from the VZW salesperson that it is 1. real, 2. absolutely amazing and worth waiting for, and 3. better than the Nexus One was good enough for me.
Also, he said the Nexus One verizon is getting is different than T-Mobile's. I was there to get info for the Incredible so I didn't get more info about that but seems like VZW either way is trying to promote the Incredible rather than the Nexus One.

It's my birthday... and that's not an April Fools Joke. I'll be a quarter of a century old. I was really hoping that by my birthday I'd find out about a release date for this phone but at this point, I'm just sitting back and waiting and trying not to be crazy.

I'd give it 2 more weeks (assuming your phone can still make calls). Rumors or not there's a very good chance it will come out that soon. If it doesn't, you'll have the 30 days into mid may which is when this phone is coming out at the latest it seems.
Also, remember you have to pay a fee to exchange. At least go with the droid and skip the devour if anything.

Well the manual update for 2.1 on the DROID is out, so hopefully a lot of people will do that and speed up the process. Then hopefully the Nexus One and HTC Incredible come out

OK. Here's my plan for dealing with the potential April fools pranks AND trying to restore some self control all at the same time. After going to bed tonight and reading the latest (insert some crazy number here) number of pages to get caught up in here, I will spend my daily quest for Incredible information on Thursday by going to one or more VZW stores/sellers and trying to get what I can from them. I will wait until Friday to visit here and start with the last page of the thread first thing Friday morning. By then anything real that might have surfaced here and not in the stores will be the subject of conversation and rightfully on topic.
It feels so much better when there's a plan to preserve ones sanity.

Im in Louisville, KY and stopped by one just a few minutes ago. Here it is.
Him: What can I do for ya'?
ME: Im looking for info on THE rumored phone.

Him: I heard AUGUST....but they also told us Jan and Feb.

Him: Well there is this bad ass google phone coming out with a 1ghz processor.

Him: My manager told me the Iphone.
Me: Well when is this awesome google phone coming out?
Him: They haven't told us any dates yet, they are keeping it tight but the entire store has this training event coming up in 2 weeks. Its an all day event too, so Im thinking its going to be something good. Maybe this new google phone. Im kinda excited about it from what I hear about it.

Could be for the Nexus One. From something someone posted, the "Special thing" the Nexus One will have over the other carriers is that it can be serviced in a VZW store. If this is true, I don't get why they would devote an entire day to training people on that phone. They should know about the Sense UI from the Eris and they should receive separate training for the 2.1 update since it's coming to the Droid....It's not like 2.1 Sense is that much different than 2.1 Stock....

So with the droid BOGO on countdown to end by April 1st I was hoping that when that countdown hti zero (and thus the BOGO deal was done) that we'd soon after see an announcement about the Incredible (why announce the next better phone when you are clearly trying to lower you inventory of the current best phone).
Unforutnately today I went to the Verizon website and the countdown is gone. Should ahve counted down to the end of today, but it seems to have been removed. Does this mean they may extend the deal? I hope not.

FWIW you could go back into the store in two weeks after the training to see if you can pull any extra info out of him. But if the mid-April rumors are true, we may already have the phone in hand by that point. Would make sense if they were keeping things tight to have training right before release.
