Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Wow.. didn't think it would be that simple. I thought I'd have to extract the zips and copy replace files... that's awesome. Going to update it right now!

Its like putting turbo charger on a stock honda ya see? Handle it correctly and itll fly. Run it ragged and tune it wrong and youll be sitting with smoke on the highway.

For you all who are asking about overclocking, I ran the 1.6 and 1.7 with no issues on my phone. I will make a few recommendations, n00b VII will include the oc kernel but will have some of the following things done to set it up:

  • sdreadahead script will be disabled in system/etc/init.d2, per dtm this is handled by the kernel when you are overclocked, at least that's my noob understanding
  • overclocking will be set to 1.4ghz, this is the max recommended setting by zte for this processor, I have found it to be fairly stable faster but to protect the phone's life expectancy I would recommend keeping that as the max I will implement this with a script

to do these yourself, go to post three to find the link to the oc kernel, flash in cwm
install voltage control and set the max to 1.4ghz (1401), save as boot setting (menu button)
disable readahead script by going to /system/etc/init.d2 and long press the readahead script, change permissions to read only.
Reboot and verify in voltage control the oc is set to 1401

This is an unreal ROM. I cannot believe how fast this made my phone. Tested everything before installing my apps, no problems so far. Great Work!!!

I agree, My phone is so fast , I just cant believe it!!
Truly appreciate you Mr. Bobo. :):D

Tried out the glitch rom. Its nice but i love noob. Switching back tonight.

I do have one question however. Have you thought about doing the OTA update on your ROM Mr. Bobo?

Mrbobo have you noticed yet that sometimes in the notification pull down some apps use a dark text that washes out against the black background?

I am currently running with the 1.7 GHz overclock rom, zipping along fluidly. When i tried to make a call to a diesel performance shop this afternoon though, i noticed that my signal dropped almost to nothing as it connected. Since then i keep testing it by calling my own voicemail with the same results. Anyone else experience this too?

Max: 1708
Min: 122
Governor: InteractiveX, cfq

Going to try setting to 1400 and reboot

Is the signal dropping or is it just the icons on the status bar? That has always worked that way for me

The phone call earlier was extremely sketchy. I'll try and make a phone call after work tomorrow, like i did today, to see if the results are the same. From what i read, Scary/InteractiveX seem to be the preferred governors for the OC kernel. What about cfq/noop?
