Hey its no problem! I got a lot of good help here and love helping others when I can. I'm new to this myself but learned by asking a lot of questions and reading a lot. I'm no pro but I'm trying my best!
Download this: ics ruu
Run on your computer. Boot into fastboot and connect to your computer. Just go through all the prompts and instructions. Hopefully this will return complete stock Ics on your phone.
I am not sure if this will relock your bootloader. It will definitely remove your custom recovery im pretty sure. If it does lock the bootloader you can unlock again with the code you already got.
We will then have to flash custom recovery again and then just the supersu instead of a rom.
I do appreciate your help "very much."
I am downloading the RUU right now but I was able to flash Cool ICS sense ROM and that has brought it back to life. I am going to try to go back to stock unroot and just try to get su on stock rom.
Hmmm. Try it one more time while booted into the system instead of from fastboot. Make sure that fast boot option in your power settings is unchecked and usb debugging enabled under application development.
What was the error?
What roms can I install with hboot 1.5 s-on? I'm thinking of using 4ext but I want it to be easy.
4EXT is super easy. You can flash roms from the app even with s-on. Also when you boot into recovery for anything it is all touchscreen instead of using volume and power buttons. It's really good. I use it. I am s-off also btw. You should be able to flash any rom based off the ics build. Just don't flash a gb rom and you should be all good. There are tons of ics roms out there!
So, I don't need hboot 1.58 to flash ics? I remember reading in another thread about needing the newest firmware first. Do I need to be s-off with 1.5 to get ics or can I stay s-on?
I have heard mixed reviews about being unlocked or locked to run the ruu. It couldn't hurt to try it locked. You can always unlock again pretty painlessly. If you lock it, try it first with phone running then in fastboot if it doesn't work.
Sorry I was going to mention locking the bootloader but it slipped my mind. Have a few things going on and my brain is in a couple places at the same time.
I don't think you can run it directly from your sd card because you are s-on. Use fastboot command
fastboot oem lock
James, once again, thank you very very much for your assistance. I was able to relock, run the RUU, unlock and and flash super user 0.96v on th stock ROM. I really do appreciate the time to you took to assist me.
Im having trouble rooting my phone. This is my first time I have evo 3d. Its hboot 1.57. Itied to go to dev tools to copy my token but its stuck. So im trying the ruu.exe but i cant find the exe file anywhere.
The website now has a drop-down box with a list of supported devices and download links for each device. Unfortunately, there is a high chance these RUU links will not work for people if they've updated over the air and will cause more confusion. The installer failed for me. There is a workaround:Now go to HTCdev - Unlock Bootloader and fill out the forms and paste the code into the device identifier token box and submit. If you're having trouble with the HTC dev site, please disable any pop up blockers, anti-viruses, and/or firewalls (temporarily). You'll get an email (check your spam folder) with your unlock_code.bin
should be "Push volume up, and then press the power button to accept."The unlock token should give you a prompt to accept the unlock code or not on the phone. Push volume up to accept. The phone should now reboot for you (so that you'll be back in Android)
You say, "Alternately you can install the SU patch." Which, I downloaded but you give no instructions on how to install it or why? I have tried this step-by-step numerous times with the HTC EVO 3D with Hboot 1.58. I have gotten it unlocked and continually get caught in the bootloader even after flashing it numerous times. I have tried differed ROM mods and the phone goes into the bootloader each time. I always end up going back and doing a complete system re-install with the original stuff. Why won't this work?????? If this is the "complete newbie's guide," it sure is expecting a lot. I can't get S-off to work. I can't get anything going with this thing.

I have been reading up on rooting for a while now, and this is the best tutorial I have found. Today, I followed it step-by-step, and my Evo3d is now unlocked and rooted ... just looking around for a good non-Sense ROM now.
Anyway, I registered at this site specifically to thank you, jerofld, for the time and effort you put into this walkthrough. You rock! :five:
Assuming you are on the ICS base and have a cdma phone.
SOS-Non sense
Ahhh, I've heard some really good things about that one, but I'm on the GSM EvoAssuming you are on the ICS base and have a cdma phone.
SOS-Non sense

ROM Manager only works if you're S-OFF.
