Root [VIDEO GUIDE] Test Mode/No service fix (# to Hidden Menu)

Fuzzy, I tried your method, printed it out..got my highlighter...and I was going good until I got to that pesky message that reads "This tool is only for vs910..." I am gonna take a guess that this method is only for the Esteem? I have an LG Optimus Elite...are there any files I can substitute for this to work? Right now I have the LGHidden Menu and no bars :( I can connect to Wifi so I hope that is a plus. Please help me :)

The test mode fix is only for the Esteem.

You can use the LGPNST if you can find the dll for you phone. If you can find that then you can just replace that and you will be able to get into LGNPST.

But if you can press ##626* and see if that brings up a prompt. if so, get your SPC and enter your SPC and that will take you into the program hidden menu. From there you can manually enter your info if its not correct.

Other than that I dont know what else you can do.

after you do the Test Mode and the phone reboots just dial *22804 and option 5 this is how I updated PRL, thank you so much this was very help full.

Hi, first I'd like to say thank you very much Fuzzy and Gbiggie for creating this guide and continuing to support this thread! I've followed the steps and have successfully removed Test mode with Test Mode Repair tool. I have the MDN and MIN for my phone.

I have successfully installed LGNPST and am using Store Level PST (LGNPST v1.2) supplied from this thread. I am stuck on System NAM 1 and have double-click to change MDN, MIN, MIN2, and Home SID and have successfully Write to 100% however on phone Settings > About Phone > Status, it shows UNKNOWN for the following: My phone number (MDN), MIN, PRL, and Mobile network type. It seems to write but nothing holds. I have also attempted to re-program using ##626* with MDN and MIN to no success.

Here's a screenshot of stock System NAM 1 upon entering (I've highlighted things different from your supplied image):

Here's my write to settings (highlight shows things I've manually entered):

My question is, am I supposed to change settings like MCC, MNC, ACCOLC, and so on to match yours? I was wondering about the proper MCC and MNC since I found links like:

- MCC-310, MNC-016, from 04/14/12: http://androidforums.com/4226637-post173.html

- Click on Android Manual Settings, MCC-310, MNC-16 from 2011(?): Mobile Carrier Settings for MetroPCS United States

Things I've noticed but weren't mentioned in this guide, the phone restarts during Nv Write, at approx. 4% everytime the phone restarts then jumps to 100% after phone starts up. Same as after Write PRL START, phone restarts and continue to progress to 100% while phone is still starting up. Also, if its of any help the phone is not currently connected to service, I've setup a temporary phone during this fix.

Well, I have not attempted any further settings because the phone isn't mine and I don't want to end up incredibly messing things up. Please advise if I have missed any steps. I notice there was another thread that said NV Write did not hold, was there any PMs exchanged for a resolution? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,
Mack

I'm having the same exact problem! I even copied my specs exactly too yours with no luck! I still have no bars and searching for service please help!

If the info your entering isnt sticking then there isnt much else you can do except take it to metro.

I have to take it to the store to get this solved. I know they won't work on it while it's rooted but I have a custom ROM on my lg esteem if I unroot with the ROM still on there what will happen

When trying to register VS910.dll i get an error message i clicked the link that said if i get the message and still dint work nothing works this post is unreliable i will just take the phone to the metropcs store i looked around this forum too many people asking for samething i rooted my phone and its not worth it if this thing happens to everyone. i will have my phone factory reset and just normal too many reboots on its own and now this ftw. too many problems comes with rooting an android phone too many like way more.

Most problems are due to user error when it comes too rooting. 9.5/10 it's user error unless the files are corrupt. Test mode is the only problem I've ever seen that is out of the users control. And it seems like it's an lg problem that they don't even know how to fix.

Regardless, this guide has saved many many many people from losing their phone.

Metro pcs won't do anything for you. The dll won't register because of your pc. Could have just asked what to do But since you bad mouthed my work you can waste time dealing with metro and hope someone else here helps you.

Good luck

Take a screen on your computer of the error so I can see exactly what you mean. You did extract the file from the zip right?

Well it should have installed when you pushed it through LGNPST. You did do that right?

You can try *228 option 5 to update it as well.

*228 wont go through...it just says programming unsuccessful, Call customer service. It behaved the same way before I brought it out of test mode

The only possible issue I can think of was a possible hiccup while copying the dll skin to the LGNPST program...

The skin just has to do with opening the program.

The only thing I can suggest is to try it again.

It could have something to do with the ROM on the phone. You can try downgrading or upgrading to do a fresh clean start and see if that does anything.

Ok. Soon as I get home in about an hour I'll run it again. I did root my device, but I kept the original ROM, so I wonder if that's what tripped me up. Thanks again Fuzzy13. Cross your fingers! One last question..my phone still has data..so I didn't brick it did I?
