I have a nexus now but im holding on to my esteem as a backup/workphone for when it does drop ill definitely be on it. Still very excited about it
Okay i did exactly as you stated PG and when i tried to install zip from cwm it said,

Not trying to be the turd in the punch bowl, but i strongly feel that by the time we have a functioning daily driver CM9 most of us will have moved on to the SG3 or get pushed into whatever T-Mobile is selling. No offense PG just like i said (and was baggared about) 2-3 months ago, its just not gunna happen in time for to to make a large enough ripple to get people...with out a better colloquial phase...blowing loads on thier phones over

Plenty of ppl still using the Ascend & Ascend 2, so plenty of ppl will still be using the Esteem for some time to come.
I agree some of you will move on and miss out on CM9/10 for the Esteem, but you wont look back once you get the S3 or even a GNexus.

Ya know, overall, I've been happy with my Esteem, and the GB-based ROMs/Mods we have for it. The Esteem community has done wonderful things for it, and none of us can really complain.
Having CM7 on my old OM was what got me drooling over the thoughts of having CM9 on this phone, but honestly, I can't complain with what we have - PG, LD, you, Shiny, MT, nuttmeg, gbiggie... too many to mention - have done SO much for Esteem owners over the last year.
I would be happy to keep my phone for another year... BUT - the thoughts of having JB on the SIII is just too much for me to resist.

I agree. I had never played with jb or ics until i got the gnex and it hat blown me away. I am now a nexus fan boy lol.

unfortunately it's looking I'm gonna be one of the ones still here once the sg3 hits (just for the fact I don't want to sell organs on the black market or ration out a pack of noodles per week for food for a new phone , the community itself is great.. ) I will be a loyal guinea pig still 
can't wait till there is a daily driver for cm9/10 on the esteem but for the time being this esteem is still doing what I need so I may be riding it till the wheels fall off.. thanks to everyone again for making this a great phone!

But i personally don't think that ics and jellybean have 5h1t on what the esteem family has... and is capable of.
Now getting another phone for better hardware, that's understandable.
Get a phone wit jellybean... and you'll be modding it within a week!

Comparing a GNex or SIII with JB, to the Esteem (with ANY ROM we have available for it) is like comparing the Optimus M w/stock Froyo, to the Esteem w/#2.
It's just apples and oranges - no real comparison.
And yes - we'll probably be modding as soon as it's rooted... to rid it of bloatware, at the very least.
As to ROMs... well, that's likely as well. After all - flashing is one of the addictions of many people here, right?
But I agree with you about our Esteem community and it's capabilities... other than that, yes... that was pretty crazy. lol

Honestly now that i have the gnex and i have aokp on it, I'm relieved that i don't need to do anything else to it. All that flashing ROM after ROM gets old. I want the best ROM and i want to leave it alone and enjoy the damn thing without worrying if I'm going to brick it. Those days are over for me.

damn it. about time someone opened a thread about this. i havnt posted since the other was closed. this project is the sole reason why i come to this forum... im considering the jump to the s3 myself. but 500 bucks for the phone just isnt worth it. id like to think and hope i wont cave but will be able to wait it out till the price drops. I think theres a lot of people that think the same i do too and because of that there will be a crap ton of people that will find cm9/10 very useful for this phone this late in the game.
Some people wont even have the chance to upgrade the esteem when the s3 price drops and they too will benefit from it. so thanks PG for continuing to work the project. and its really good to hear your finally out of the pink. of course it would of been cool to have a pink screen for the breast cancer month which is still going on

Well I have to say the S3 sections at least on XDA & Rootz have devs that make me look like a 2nd grader and I have no shame admitting that.
But yes I aree the Esteem community has had some ppl step up and learn to dev, theme, and most importantly USE LINUX!!!!!!!

totally agree... i feel like a second grader when i talk to you! so you can imagine how small i am on the s3 scale lol
i 'used' to 'think' i was a dev when i came here from the G1 forums, but quickly learned i was nothing close!! and still today i dont consider myself a developer in any way.. all i can do is read LOL i feel more of a 'contributor' if anything...
it's amazing how much i learned in the last year since joining AF & the esteem forum.. the funny thing is all my friends think im a genius but im barely scratching he surface of it all...
many thanks to you my friend, taught me a whole lot!! and yes... LINUX!!! lol.. nd i never doubted yu on CM's... was kinda bummed out about no 7 tho lol... dont know why, im just a fan of cm7
