Not sure why VZW would want to steal thunder from Google and the N1. Verizon isn't selling the device, true, but they lose money selling handsets anyway. What the make money with is data plans and contracts, both of which the N1 will provide.
Hey everybody -
I am a long time lurker and this is my first post. I have an LG Dare and it has served me well, but I want to upgrade to Android. I was extremely close (in the store, waiting to see a rep) to getting the Moto Droid back in November but decided to wait for something similar (meaning Android, awesome huge screen) but without the clunky and unnecessary keyoard. I heard something like that was coming (Passion, Bravo, etc) and eventually stumbled onto this forum and have been reading it non-stop for about 3 weeks. A lot of you guys and gals are really funny.
In response to the quote above, I just wanted to point out that from what I have read, the Shadow does not have a keyboard. A lot of people are getting the Shadow and the possible Droid 2 confused. I don't mean to call anybody out for a mistake in my first post - just trying to clear up some confusion
I can't wait for the Incredible!

I sense Verizon has never been too enthusiastic about this whole N1 thing, anyway, what with Google handling all the sales. Maybe that's why all along they've been simultaneously developing the Incredible.
After all, besides me, who else is going to be so enthusiastic about buying a phone they've never touched?
Case in point, I was in NYC last weekend and saw a T-Mobile store and wanted to show my wife the N1. Oops, stupid me! You have to buy it from Google. What the hell kind of marketing campaign is that?

I don't know how others feel, but I would never buy a phone on the internet. I like the fact that when I buy a phone at a verizon store that they will service or exchange my phone right there. Personal service... I love it!![]()
My husband doesn't have a smart phone but i do. Wait... maybe he does have a "smart phone"... It was accessing the internet on its own and racking up data charges. Had to take it back to verizon and have them uninstall some software. To this day it still tries to do things on its own.
Hey Keebler, I grew up in Livermore. How long have you been there?!
Really? I thought the Shadow had Keyboard and the Motoroi didn't. The picture someone posted a while back (granted it was completely photoshopped) had a Shadow with a keyboard.
I could be wrong though, I haven't spent much time at all checking it, because I need a phone soon, very soon.
That reminds me of my old Treo 700 with Win Mobile. I remember talking with the VZW rep when I first got it and he was talking about a customer who was irate because their son unknowingly initiated a data session on one and racked up something like a hundred dollars in data charges. Those things could easily screw you over if you didn't have an unlimited data plan or didn't know how to end a data session.
Apple is PARANOID of ANDROID!Heydon't worry about it. It's not gonna effect phones for a long time. I mean the Nokia vs Apple hearing got pushed back to 2010 and that was filled awhile ago .... and even so they will probably settle out of court. No worries.

GHS class of 85. I guess that makes me 42My whole life. Family moved here in 1985 when I was 1yo.
Granada or Livermore?
Yeah, that is true. I'm probably one of the few that will pay full price for a handset and Verizon is still probably losing some money on the deal. For me if I were a rep. within Verizon, I'd be annoyed by the N1 simply because it won't be in stores, yet its going to be on you when issues arise with the device and service. I know training for the N1 will be provided, but its still irritating when you don't sell something, yet your the one liable to ensure its working on the network. Not sure why VZW would want to steal thunder from Google and the N1. As far as HDMI out on a phone goes, I can't imagine a scenario where I'd use the phone over some other device. If I was somewhere, say didn't have internet, my xbox/ps3, laptop, and I felt like streaming netflix or something to a tv, then maybe at that point I'd use that feature. That would also require me to carry around the HDMI cable, that TV to have an HDMI input, the miniHDMI > HDMI cable or converter, my phone charger, and would also mean that I wouldn't be using my phone during this viewing. But that is a rare, rare occasion. Any other time I feel as if I'd have a better means to watch. To me the beauty of the handset is being able to watch these things on the go, not on a TV. Why would I want to take a MOBILE device and pair it with my TV, I feel like I have enough devices for that already, not to mention the incredibly limited storage space on a phone (32gb? vs. potential TB's). That's also trusting the streaming quality of Netflix over VZW. There's just a lot of IF's to that scenario....
april 25th is a sunday...has verizon ever released a major phone on a sunday?? seems weird to me

OUCH!!
Its going to be interesting to see what kind of support this phone is going to get. I don't think we'll see a Sunday release day. If Verizon operates with any kind of marketing strategy, they are going to look at roughly what period of the month subscribers are up for NE2 as well as trends to what the most common payday is across the nation (meaning do more companies do their payday this week or next week kind of deal). They'll want at least a 4 day+ release "weekend" where they count Thurs and Fri as part of the weekend giving the most time to post strong sales records for the coming Monday.I remember hearing from someone somewhere (not sure where) that BBs ads start on Sunday. Maybe someone here can confirm that. Maybe that's why.
From my friend who owns a verizon store...i sent him a link showing the warehouse inventory, so he called the head of the verizon warehouse and just sent me a facebook message.
We will have it in stock within a month! Not sure of pricing yet.
