Well here it is, the LG Nexus 4! Without LTE

That's international version with GSM radio. GSM Galaxy Nexus didn't have LTE radio either. I think LTE version will be launched by specific carriers just like Verizon, Sprint did with their Galaxy Nexus.
 
Lack of LTE is disappointing, but still excited to see it officially announced. Still hoping other Nexus devices are announced soon.

Unfortunately, from what i have been hearing it sounds like there might not be an LTE version of this device, at least not right away. It sounds like Google and LTE aren't really getting along right now :)
 
How is it that once apple adds 4g lte to their phones and drops the stupid glass back plate, google says "hey this is an awesome idea, let's go with this concept LG drew up", leaving LTE out of their development phone and putting glass on the back too boot?

Plus google was being so good with 16:9 aspect ratio screens, showing android to be an entertainment device, but now that they are allowing an odd aspect ratio on the phone, it won't be good for video at all. On the screen, even with normal tv broadcasts it will have ugly dark grey bars on the top and bottom. At least with AMOLED displays the black bars are actually black and blend in well with the phone's bezel.

Plus this phone won't have a 32GB version, at least not yet, and it has a tiny built in battery.

No offense, but this phone is a real let down, not that we didn't already know that. The only way in which is impresses me is the awesome SoC inside, but even that has a GPU that can only match the iPhone 5 on half the things and gets half as powerful in other things. I guess at least the CPU has enough power to theoretically software decode anything the GPU doesn't support though.

Hopefully if Verizon and Sprint do get this phone, they at least get it a 32GB version.
 
2100 mAh battery is tiny? Compared to the Galaxy Note 2 or the RAZR Maxx, yeah, but that's typical of smartphones coming out now. Tiny would be 1800 mAh or less in my book.

What's your source on that? Just because we don't hear about it now doesn't mean it's not coming. VZW announced existence of their Galaxy Nexus couple of weeks after the Google/Samsung announcement of GSM Galaxy Nexus. Normally CDMA carriers launch their own Nexus phone some months after GSM goes on sale.
 
Yeah, I tend to agree with what he is saying as well, especially with a 12 month product cycle. Remember when we all laughed at Apple for not putting LTE on the iPhone 4S? Now Google does it OVER A YEAR LATER!? What were they thinking?! :rolleyes: Note to Google: When Apple puts LTE on their handset, the technology is ready for primetime. It is NOT an emerging technology at that point.

Agreed! It's like when we see NFC on an iphone, we then know its become a standard and ready to roll.

For me it's just not making me want to run out and buy it! I like the fact that it resembles the Galaxy Nexus, however the screen is going to be washed out, no LTE, 16gigs is not enough, the Battery will be ehh, and the camera looked pretty grainy from the Verge review. However with all that said, a true hands on will tell the tale.

All I've read about this phone convinces me that it'll have a kickass screen. Can we at least wait until the reviews pop up before we judge the device? On paper, it looks well worth the $350 they're charging for it, LTE or not.
 
It is nice looking I'll admit that, but since the rumors were pretty much true this time, I guess I will be saving up for the Galaxy S3, or the HTC J Butterfly.
 
In the UK, the cost of unlimited data on hsdpa is the same as 500 mb on LTE. This is probably because it is only available on one carrier, so many users are waiting for it to be available on more carriers and be priced more competitively. This will likely occur mid next year. So in the UK at least, there is not much of a market for a LTE device yet.

Read from where? Hardly anyone has had a hands on! Every leak I've seen so far with the Galaxy Nexus next to it makes the LG's screen look completely washed out. I agree that a real hands on will tell the tale, as I've said earlier. But my 2 cents is that I really enjoy the deep blacks of a Super Amoled or Super Amoled +.
 
True, except for Verizon, no one really has a built up LTE network that's worth anything yet. But since I am on Verizon, I am especially sensitive to this.

Very doubtful, but I am willing to wait another month to see if there is a LTE version for VZW. Either way I need to pick up a new phone soon. My Samsung Gaalxy Nexus for VZW is 'hurting.'
 
Honestly the lack of LTE is fine by me and I can see why it was left out.... The first being international phone and the second being pricing. I know we all expect these killer hardware stats from the nexus series but lets be honest... Adding said stats will raise the price a LOT higher than most can afford and since the Carriers aren't playing ball will the whole vanilla android concept (Updates) this is the best option imho.

I guess Im a bit immune to the whole LTE argument since Im on ATT and we have been passed up on LTE in this area for some time and probably for a good year or more at this point. Not to mention the fact that Im on a 2 gig plan anyways and for what I do 6 - 10Mbps is plenty fast for me.

This is my second phone that has an antenna that I cant use..... The last phone barely started to get HSPA+ when I got this one....

I want this phone, just waiting for a few reviews first on camera and screen performance.

The Verge has some pretty in depth articles already. They had hands on time with the device prior to the announcement. Might wanna do a bit of research instead of going by the leaks. The announcement or the preview? I'm confused, as you just said that you haven't seen anything of substance other than leaks. The Verge has in dept hands on on both the 10 and the 4. They also mentioned that the screen was pretty damn good, a far cry from "washed out" and what not.
 
This quote from that Verge review of Nexus 4 is very promising. In my understanding IPS+ screen is the highest quality LCD screen with good brightness, clarity. The only thing AMOLED has over this is probably black contrast.

"On the bright side, the 320 ppi IPS+ LCD screen is terrific — a massive upgrade over the so-so Galaxy Nexus display and competitive with the iPhone's 326 ppi Retina Display. And it's not just competitive in pixel density; the screen looks stunning. It's also laminated and uses LG's new "G2" technology which integrates the touch sensor into the Gorilla Glass 2 outer layer, making everything thinner as well as bringing the actual pixels closer to the surface of the display. (Apple uses a similar technique called "in-cell touch" on the iPhone 5, which integrates the touch sensor into the display panel.) I found a good comparison video here. I like slightly more saturated colors on AMOLED, but IPS+ is nothing to laugh at either.
