***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Call me crazy, because I'll be the first to bash the claim I'm about to make.

Is it possible the HTC had been working on the incredible and a CDMA Nexus One?

Then Verizon convinced HTC to make the Incredible Verizon's version of the N1. Then the CDMA N1's are already made, so they get dropped onto Sprint.

I mean. honestly, has anyone actually SEEN a CDMA N1? And How many people have spotted the Incredible in some way shape or form???

This is just random theory.... so don't bash, just comment, becuas eit kinda seemed logical to me.

I think it's fairly safe to say that the N1 is a different device. Almost all of the VZW rep stories we get refer to the 2 as different phones, and Google doesn't seem to be in favor of the manufacturer putting their own flavor on Android. But in reality, who knows.

Honestly hearing these things mean nothing. I own a Verizon Wireless Agent store and we have no information on the Incredible or the Nexus One. I've learned more about either of these phones from the Internet than I have Verizon (which is nothing).

Brain, great to see you here. i remember you from the Crackberry.com as I anxiously awaited the Storm (1)

I can attest that this guy is legit. He may not have specific info (as he states) but based on the info we got back in November 2008 on the Storm, I can tell you that he's a straight shooter and a righteous dude.

that theory is starting to make more sense after ag04's post

Yeah, I could definitely see Verizon doing something that stupid... maybe it is a result of VZW insisting that Google sell the N1 in VZW stores, and Google wouldn't budge. VZW said "screw it" and had HTC come up with the Incredible.

Part of me would not be surprised if it came out that VZW wasn't getting the N1 after all and that the Incredible -- with very comparable specs, and reportedly the same screen -- would be Verizon's in-house offering in its place.

Also there have been 2 different FCC filings.....pretty much a dead give away to 2 different devices.

I don't buy the Incredible actually being the Nexus One. Sure, maybe its the only 1 of the 2 that verizon actually will sell, but they look drastically different and the Incredible, from what we've seen, does not have any Google branding on it like a real Nexus one has.

I still think they get both, or possibly just the Inc and never the N1, but I doubt the Inc actually is the N1. Could be wrong though.

Good point. Maybe the Motoblur part wanted to be separate from the droids. I really have no idea though.

For the upteenth time, I would like to emphasize that Verizon has stated that the only reason the name was "DROID Eris" was because HTC wanted to identify it as an Android device on Verizon and to piggyback on DROID advertising.

After that, HTC was free to reuse the Desire name, which they did. NO other Verizon Android phones will carry the DROID name except the Motorola A855, HTC Eris, and their respective successors.

Flame suit off.

Anything's possible, especially in the light of this bizarre "coincidence" of having two high-end phones being released simultaneously. It doesn't make sense on so many levels.

Now I am not normally a conspiracy theorist, but in the back of my mind I've always had the thought that somewhere along the line Verizon shifted gears on this, as though their version of the Nexus One was ALWAYS going to be the Incredible, and due to all the excitement/misinformation/disinformation we had a bunch of half-truths we were going on.

Sounds sort of like a movie, where everything is revealed at the end.

Just a thought that has been repeated here for several weeks, but now with new legs?

I mean. honestly, has anyone actually SEEN a CDMA N1? And How many people have spotted the Incredible in some way shape or form???

If you were seeing one out in the wild though, how would you really know? Its not as if you can tell whether the N1 in someone's hand is the T-Mobile or AT&T version, because they look exactly the same.

Well the Incredible is the respective successor to the Eris.

Edit: I've also not seen Verizon's statement that the Eris was only named Droid for this reason. Could you point me in the right direction to where this has been said. I'm not really doubting you, but would like to educate myself in this are further.

Hey guys, I've been rabid about this phone, like many of you all have been. I did some hardcore snooping today, frustrated, and then a call at the end of the day shed some light at the end of the tunnel. Here's my story:

I went to my local Verizon store authorized retailer using my NE2 as a guise for my plan:

Unsuccessful Physical Attempt

Front guy: Can I assist you with anything today?

Me: Yeah, see my NE2 is up, and The Droids just went of BOGO, so I was wondering if you knew when the nexus or the htc incredible is going to hit?

Representative next to Front guy: Uhh... Let me get my manager.

Front guy: Let me get your name real quick, and I'll put you on the list.

Wait.... wait..... wait.... (manager approaches after a few minutes)

Manager: How can I help you?

Me:Yeah, my NE2 is up, and I know the Droids were on BOGO, and that ended, so I may be looking to upgrade soon...

Manager: (cutting me off) let me get your number and the name on the account.

Puts it in, says I'm not authorized, blah blah, I've had problems with this in the past.

Me: so when is the Nexus one coming? I know Sprint is getting it at the end of the month, and VZW is getting it in Spring for sure.

Manager:We're not Sprint, so I honestly don't know.

Me: Oh, well then, are there any new android phones coming out soon?

Manager: We're not getting any new android phones anytime soon.

Me: Not even the Incredible?

Manager: I've never heard of it, so no.

This guy was kind of a dick, like major dick. Upset me how dick-y he was. So I play with some Pre-plus' toying around with the idea that I could just pick one up for a few weeks and see how I like it, then I pull the front guy aside and start talking, turns out we used to work for the same marketing company selling FIOS, kinda gets me in.

Me: So you think you could hook me up with a person at the computer so I can get them to look up a model number for a phone?

Front guy: What for?

Me: Its a new phone coming out, I know its in the system, I've seen the numbers, I want to see if you guys have record of it, its in the cellbrite.

Front guy: Alright, I'll put you down again, not a problem.

Me: sweet thanks man.

Actually... I got no where with the next convo or two, they were all playing dumb, here's the only interesting part:

Me: The model number is ADR 6300, it's an HTC android phone, should be in the system

Guy next to computer lady: Oh, isn't that the Eris?

Me: Close, the Eris is the 6200, this one is the HTC incredible.

Guy: (interesting look, like I just said something that I shouldn't know) oh, okay.
.

Lady is ignorant and ends up going on HTC website and is like "naa I don't see it, we only can see current and past phones". All the while my friend is laughing hysterically as I futilely try to pump this knobs for information.

Successful Call:

But I did have one really successful call to an authorized retailer:

Lady: Hello, thank you for calling Verizon Wireless on XXXXXX N XXXXX

Me: This is an authorized retailer of VZW right?

Lady: Yes we are.

Me: Okay cool, see my NE2 is up, and the droids just went off BOGO, and I would prefer not to pay $200 for a phone thats been out for almost 6months, and I know the Nexus is supposed to drop soon, or so says the website, I was wondering if you knew anything about it?

Lady: Yes we do, It's set to drop at the end of the month, we should have them by then.

Me: Alright then, are they going to be available in store?

Lady: Yes they are, they will be for SALE in the store by the end of the month.

Me: Awesome, now do you know anything about the Incredible, and when that is set to drop?

Lady: The phone we are getting IS the Incredible, it's a modified Nexus basically, made for Verizon. You should try out the Eris in the store, because it doesn't have a slide out keyboard like the droid, and it's got some other things that are different, so if you like the eris, then you should definitely wait for this phone.

Me: Interesting, do you know of any other Tweaks besides it missing a keyboard? Like a better camera?

Lady: I can't recall specifically, but I think it has slightly better features than the Nexus one, but definitely uses the same processor.

Me: Great, so I can call back in a couple weeks, or come in by the end of the month and see if you all have it in stock?

Lady: Yes you can!

Me: Thank you very much, I just didn't want to spend the $199 on the droid if something better could be coming out!

Lady: That understandable.

Me: Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.

Sorry for the dialogue stuff, I promise this is legitimate, I've been driving my friends up a wall with as much as I talk about this thing, I wouldn't lie, I'm going to work on getting an audio clip so I can post it up and you guys can have a listen. I'm hoping that this will add a little credibility to the APR 28th expected date. Thanks!

Thanks for the post. I really feel there is alot of mojo for the Incredible to be available for purchase by April 28. Too many insiders old and new point to around this date.:)

Also there have been 2 different FCC filings.....pretty much a dead give away to 2 different devices.

That was kind of a part of my whole point, is that they already HAD a CDMA N1, and it was dropped to Sprint.

Just to clarify, I have ZERO faith in this random theory, poeple. Please BTFO. :D:cool:

Yes, they are two different phones. I dont think Google would have it any other way.

The reps at stores dont know anything more than anyone on this forum. I mean for what its worth, I went to a store today, casually walked in and asked about the N1 and the Incredible. The manager, who was next to the rep calmly looked at me and said the N1 will be available online only and they have no launch information on the Incredible. Theres a number of mixed responses.

If you were seeing one out in the wild though, how would you really know? Its not as if you can tell whether the N1 in someone's hand is the T-Mobile or AT&T version, because they look exactly the same.

The carrier is in the Notification bar, and looking through the about phone would show differentials. Plus two different model numbers.

Brian- do you know about how long the usual timeframe is from when you see new phones pop up in infomanager and cellbrite till they are released?

It's honestly hard to say. As others have said, usually not too long. I think everything points to the time frame that everyone is thinking. Once it actually shows up in InfoCenter or InfoManager it's usually within a couple of weeks. It isn't actually listed in our InfoCenter yet. I checked tonight. I even tried a search for it with no results. I realize the link that was posted earlier, and it's obvious the link is legit. They just apparently haven't finished putting in all the info and haven't made the listing as available in our Equipment Guide yet.

Hey thanks! I was over at Crackberry! I don't remember what kind of info I had but glad I could help! lol I'll try to do the same here.

Well the Incredible is the respective successor to the Eris.

We also went over that a while ago, and came up that there was a 50/50 chance of the name changing to DROID Eris II.

Eris Model Number: ADR6200
Incredible Model Number: ADR6300

EDIT: I know this drops credibility, but I got the Eris naming thing from Verizon workers, one an Online CSR, and an In-store. Apparently some kind of internal communication. :?:

I'd probably agree except that Google seems pretty serious about the fact that they will be releasing an N1 on Verizon before Spring is over. Nobody really cares about the N1 though here it seems since the Incredible will undoubtedly be a better choice.

On a sidenote, the Motorola Shadow is rumored to be the Nexus 2 so there is still a distinct possibility that the Incredible could be Verizon's version of the N1 and it could very well be marketed as such.

Eris Model Number: ADR6200
Incredible Model Number: ADR6300

Wait wait wait...just like RIM did with the Curve. Will it be DROID Eris 2, or DROID Eris2? or maybe they need to emphasize that it will be THAT much better and call it DROID Eris

I agree...I think there's a very distinct possibility. As long as the customer first thinks of Android Device when they think of an Eris, this is a good idea, to keep it recognizable as a good Android device.

The scenario where this fails is if a customer thinks of Eris as a second tier Android device.

It's always good if the customer knows what the device is without asking too many questions. It lets them feel more confortable with what they're buying.

Actually i think the Droid2 = Nexus 2, since it will be running stock android os and possibly be LTE compatible.

Motorola Shadow will have motoblur on it so i don't think it will be the N2.

I think it's pretty much out of the question that the name is going to change. Considering the Equipment Guide link from InfoManager was posted calling it the HTC Incredible. That's an internal Verizon system that says HTC Incredible. I think it's staying.
