All of you have inspired me to finally visit a company store and pump for information. i went today to a corporate store in the Richmond area. the amazing thing was they havent updated their store sales signs (Still BOGO on the DROID). I stood around for 10 minutes while all of the sales folks talked and laughed in the corner. Finally one came over to me by the droid and eris display and i asked about other droid phones. He tried to push me onto the Droid but i told him i wanted a better phone with not external keyboard and that i had heard of other newer HTC devices coming out. The only response i got was a deer in the headlights and drool coming off the mouth. i said thanks but no thanks. I know this isnt anything new or profound but i wanted all of you to know that my inspiration came from the group here.

Sorry for the very long post. i promise to keep the rest of them short and sweet! Please keep this place just the way it is!

Peace!

:D:D:p:eek:

Great first post! You in Richmond, VA? I'm just outside there in Midlothian

Verizon is running out of reasons for delay, first MWC is a no show, second is CTIA a no show, then the EVO, then the IPAD, then because spring is almost over, then because summer is almost here, oh wait verizon hears it might rain, so the better wait another month, ad nauseum,....

I don't think the delay had anything to do with the EVO or the Ipad. I think there were problems with Android 2.1 on the Verizon network, so the Incredible got shelved while a fix was hurriedly developed. The Droid update was delayed for the same reason, and the Nexus One launch was probably delayed too. Verizon cares more about its beloved Network than it does about any phone.

Now there's presumably a fix, and the Droid got it first. The Incredible is still shelved until the engineers feel comfortable that the fix works, and they won't decide that until after observing several weeks of data from Droid users. Hence the reason why there doesn't appear to be anything on the immediate horizon for the Incredible.

Now the questions seem to be:

1. Does the fix work, or is there more work to be done on 2.1 (resulting in further delay)?

2. If the fix works, is Verizon comfortable rolling it out on two more handsets at the same time, or will the Incredible or the N1 be further delayed for the launch of the other?

So, to confirm, we should all visit that website tonysracing posted so it'll get more hits? therefore verizon will be 'pressured' to just release it?

I think really it's just that it is getting all the more closer to it's release and we are seeing it pop up in more systems ( i.e cellbrite).

Maybe VZ is watching this forum and we have started a waiting game. We lose if we cave and buy Droids and they lose if we wait long enough that they release the next greatest HTC phone with a built in 1080p projector, 3ghz processor, 2gigs of memory, 80gb of built in space, a 6" screen, voice to text, text to voice voice command, full duplex speakerphone with auto translation from any language to english and english to any language, and it has a 20000mah battery that lasts 10 days and runs on a miniaturized nuclear reactor.......sorry got kinda carried away. Need an Incredible fix!

VERY interesting.

Honestly hearing these things mean nothing. I own a Verizon Wireless Agent store and we have no information on the Incredible or the Nexus One. I've learned more about either of these phones from the Internet than I have Verizon (which is nothing).

I can GUARANTEE you that no Verizon Wireless Authorized Agent store has received any information from Verizon about either of these phones. I highly doubt the corporate stores have either. If reps do comment or say something they are only repeating what they've heard on the Internet. I'll do that at times. Even with the Incredible I've mentioned it to a few customers but it's not because of something I've heard from Verizon.

Reps are going to talk and say things but it doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. If reps act clueless, it's probably because they really are. As far Verizon is concerned to us at this point these phones don't exist. If I were to ask they wouldn't tell me anything. They are very tight lipped about these things and won't give us any information until they are ready to.

EDIT: I also don't think Verizon is waiting on any big announcement for this phone. I can't remember any phone that has been announced on a TV show or anything like that. They will release it when they release it. I'm sure there is some kind of internal reason to the release date. I don't see the phone getting a big announcement. I highly doubt there will be much advertisement at all, and definitely not at some big event.

then we could install a flux-capacitor and get that baby up to 88mph and go "back to the future"

This seems like a possible scenario, because many of our reliable sources have said they were surprised when there was not CTIA announcement, and the DROID update was delayed shortly before CTIA. Now we have a lot of people saying 2 weeks. Maybe because there is not official release date planned yet, and they are truly waiting to see how the Moto Droid does with 2.1. If we get through next week with no problems, maybe VZW will be confident in releasing the Incredible.

Brian- do you know about how long the usual timeframe is from when you see new phones pop up in infomanager and cellbrite till they are released?

@pewpewbangbang - I would think that the "something HUGE" would be the N1, since that is a higher profile phone in the overall public consciousness.

@BerryDroid - it actually WOULD make sense for them to have an N1 meeting, ESPECIALLY since it will be sold from Google's site, since so many VZW customers will probably be totally confused and STILL calling Big Red asking a bunch of newb Q's.

What I am unsure of is are they going to "droid" this phone with that ad campaign.
There are more droid ads out which makes me think they are, if not why start dragging out more droid ads now.
Unless those ads were all made at the same time and they are trying to use them up before they arent relevent anymore.

I think it would be a very smart move to 'add to the droid family'. This will keep the familiarity that anything the DROID can do the new Droid will be able to do as well.

Does anyone know if the DROID commercials are partly funded by Moto? It could also be that the reason we are seeing the Droid commercials is because Motorola is paying for them to try and get as many of their devices sold as possible. I'm sure they're aware that it won't be long before their phone is the second best at VZW.

Android Central did an article about how long the droid 2.1 would take, about 20 days

"If they've sold even only 2 million Droids to Verizon in the last five months. Do the math. 2 million divided by 200,000/day = 10 days, 4 million = 20 days"

maybe verizon is waiting for 2.1 to be on most (if not all) of the droids before the incredible launch?

maybe someone has already pointed this out..

G
the masters or nhl playoffs would be perfect...

"sid, sid, how do you feel winning your second stanley cup in a row?"

Ah but then why not use the droid name for the Devour?

Call me crazy, because I'll be the first to bash the claim I'm about to make.

Is it possible the HTC had been working on the incredible and a CDMA Nexus One?

Then Verizon convinced HTC to make the Incredible Verizon's version of the N1. Then the CDMA N1's are already made, so they get dropped onto Sprint.

I mean. honestly, has anyone actually SEEN a CDMA N1? And How many people have spotted the Incredible in some way shape or form???

This is just random theory.... so don't bash, just comment, becuas eit kinda seemed logical to me.

Yeah, I really don't see that happening... Since the Caps are going to win :p

You are crazy! lol You asked for it!

Yes it is random but could be the case. If you think about it why would Verizon want the exact same phone as another carrier. They would want something to call their own.
