ok on this thread i will explain how i got cwm to work on my phone
(i learned to do this after lots and lots of trial and error) any ways lets get started.
First off start by making sure your on FI22 (if not update your system via Settings>System Updates)
Next Root your Phone like this:

step 1: Download ODIN and install it
Step 2: Download and install Kies
Step 3: Grab the AGAT Kernel
Step 4: go into odin mode on your phone (Power + vol. down) and connect it to your pc
Step 5: Open up ODIN in administrator mode and click the PDA check box and browse to the agat.tar
Step 6: Click Start (when its finished your phone will reboot and there will be a yellow triangle. dont worry its nothing)
Step 7: download Super User and put it on your SD Card (it doesnt matter which one)
Step 8: Open up agat and select install zip
Step 9: Select the SU.zip you just dled
step 10: Reboot and your rooted YAY!!!

Edit: Ok so apparently the method that i first posted doesn't work so first off root your phone as stated above then flash this in ODIN (on the PDA slot)

Q&A
How old am I?
Well that was an irrelevant question to this post but i am 13 (JK) (but i really am 13)

And also a special thanks to guyphs for his root meathod that i posted here

Just curious. I read on another post someone having issues with agat recovery taking over and overriding cwm, making cwm not useable. I think it was when they rebooted it defaulted back to agat recovery.

Any problems you've had like this or have you tested this at all?

I am looking to install aokp rom and this can only be done with cwm that's why I ask.

this is a method i learned from personal experience (it took me 3 bricks before i successfully learned this meathod) now im not saying its fullproof but if it doesnt just tell me and ill help you get restored to stock (it worked for me) and also ive had no problems with agat coming up that stupid agat is long gone

Yes the AGAT recovery will override once you reboot and you will be back to AGAT recovery. you have to use a kernel without recovery to be able to make CWM stick

When you say recovery, does the agat kernal have agat recovery built into it?

As I understand it agat recovery can be used aside from the agat kernal, so I'm thinking the kernal listed doesn't have that recovery in it.
if it does I'm back to square one again.

Also, can you make a suggestion as to what kernal to use with FI22?, possibly with links of possible.

I won't be able to try anything until I get home to a PC. But if it works I'll definatly request this thread to be stickied

well it worked perfectly for me but what ever ill put a different way to get cwm up

Are you flashing a kernel with CWM possibly? I know you can do that and CWM will be the only recovery, and that will work. I did that but the kernel didn't support the things I wanted as it was based on an older kernel.

sOME OF AGATS KERNELS at least one I know of comes with cwm recovery, or is based on CWM. when i originaly rooted using Guyphs method, before I flashed SU i made a nandroid and it said CWM on the folder. Later I read that kernel was based off of or used CWM recovery

Yes AGAT recovery is based off of CWM and will make backups of your phone fine. However, if you intend to flash in other ROMs like CM10, problems have been reported.

Codegerm

As a 2 day noob to being rooted, you cannot not flash any. Aosp or aokp ROM with agat recovery. Agat does have a few kernels with CWM baked in as was already stated by codegerm. And also pointed out, you will need to find a kernel that doesn't have a recovery baked in order to just change the recovery. It will over write back to whatever one is baked in to the kernel you used. This guide should really be just as simple as below.

1) root phone
2) flash kernel with no recovery baked in
3) flash recovery of your choice
4) happy flashing...

Edit:
And as I stated in another post, I am still not sure if you even need to use a baked in recovery. It seems that was just because of some issue that was bricking phones. I read some where that issue had been fixed though, but don't hold me to that just yet :) . Also to all new to flashing, you will need a kernel for whatever ROM you are going to flash. Meaning it has to be compatible with it. Like a Aosp/Aokp kernel for and Aosp/Aokp ROM. Most of agats are for ROMs based off of the stock image only.

Well the newer way didn't work either. It lets you have cwm, but when I try to flash a rom it bails out.
I can't seem to find a kernal that will let me install it via odin either, I try different ones and it says md5 hash mismatch or somthing along those lines. I;ve tried different kernals and no luck yet.
The ONLY one I can get to work is agat which is in the root section how to root this phone.

I really do want to try other roms, but I'm at a stand still and out of ideas what to do.

I can confirm this too. 41g-ATB-cwm-0910 works fine for me as well.

Every time i tried to install AoKP Milestone 1. I would get an error with a few different safe kernels. (41g-wtf2-0821, E4GT-EL29-directbootCWM-v3, or StockCWM-EL26)

(Same error as this guy)

i get some weird message in CWM saying stuff about
getprop("ro.product.device") epic4gtouch

at the end it says status 7 in parenthesis.

Only kernel that worked for me what "41g-ATB-cwm-0910.zip"

If you would like. Ill record the process of going from rooted fi22 to aokp milestone1.

Please do, and ty. Can you also link to that kernel to a direct d/l, so i can replace my kernel.
That is the same kernel a lot of others are using, but for the life of me I cannot find a download for it.

Not sure if this will help but here is my phone info:

Baseband versionS: D710.10S.FI22

Kernel version3.0.15-SPH-710.FF18-CL663858 SE.INFRA@SEP-113#3 SMP PREEMPT Mon June 18 19:35:19 KST 2012

Build numberIMM761.FI22

HardwareD710.10

I hope this info helps so someone can help me get a JB rom installed.

Kid good find!!!!

I flashed to the newer cwm and am now on a jb ROM.
This may want to be stickied.

It would seem as though not all cwm versions will work with some ROMs.

I thank you all again for all the help. I can now play with some ROMs.
