so whats it mean as far as a release date?

well it would take a while to summarize everything that has been said about the release date since that tidbit has been posted, so your best bet would be to just read back a few pages and see.
Basically, we still know nothing concrete in terms of the release date...just that it's "near," which we've been hearing for, oh, a few months now.

does anyone remember how the calendar said "additional android handset"
maybe that means the 28th is the launch of another android handset for april, meaning there will be one sooner in april than the 28th...?

Im not sure any phone can live up to all the hype this thread has built up. Sure its going to be a great phone but I already know I'm going to want the next best phone six months after getting the Incredible. Its inevitable. I just hope it doesnt disappoint me from the get go.

Everything is relative - my teenage daughter is pleading with me to order it while it's still on sale. I hate the fact that it requires even the $10 data plan (we have 6 kids, 2 family plans, those bills add up fast) but their "feature" phones are really pretty blah.

I agree it is a great phone for a teenager.... not to mention I was going to get one :o....don't even get me started on the data plan thing.... that is what started this mess in the first place!! I got ticked when they required the data plans because I didn't want one but I decided if I have to pay for one I was going to get one that I could get some use out of because the 9.99 plan is a JOKE. So... I played right into Verizon's hands and am now paying for a 29.99 data plan. It started with the droid which I did not like and next thing I know I am obsessed with a phone that does not exist. :D and.... end up stuck witha bb tour while I wait. I suppose I could have hooked my dare back up.

It really tickes me off that they think they get to dictate to me that I HAVE to provide my 10 year old with internet access. I especially love the part where I can block it but pay for it anyway. If it were not for the fact that verizon is the only one around here with decent service.. well Alltel is pretty good here but they are becoming AT&T in this area... but every one I know is on verizon and I would lose the free m2m minutes and we use a ton, I would have jumped ship just over the principle of the thing. I got scared of the my circle that we would not have enough of them to put everyone we talk to on. The LAST I wanted was to increase my bill. I definately feel for anyone who has kids on a family plan expecially more than one. Right now it doesn't make that much difference to me because "father of the year" hooked up her phone, got her internet access, and pays the bill... but if he decides he isn't going to to it anymore I will be stuck and the "simple" phones suck!!

So here I am on Easter Sunday on here discussing an incredible yet invisible phone ..... dinner plans have changed so I am waiting for guests... and we all know miracles happen on Easter.... soooo.....I would love an incredible one. :o

Ya we can speculate until we start guessing that if the planets align just right and if jupiter matches up with the headquarters of verizon then maybe that means release is soon.

I mean really speculation is cool at first but after awhile it starts to sound like crazy talk. :p

I was playing with my brothers Moto droid the other day and man that phone is really cool. I'm very excited about getting my first smart phone and looking forward to whatever it is I end up getting.

Honestly anything I get is going to be better than what I have now. I have the envy 2. So I think I'd be happy with the moto droid, nexus one, or Incredible. However I really want the snapdragon processor.

Maybe if someone has experience with Sense UI they can elaborate their experience with it? The default UI is pretty basic I think - how does it compare to sense UI?

As long as you get a phone with the snapdragon processor you'll be fine. Hopefully not down clocked. the 1ghz processor should be fine for all apps out today and anything in the future for awhile.

I saw the size of apps in the android market and there isn't going to be any apps that is going to use up all 512MB(320 free) of RAM.

Not me!!! I plan to keep my incredible for a long time... and I will NEVER look on the net for new phones coming out!!! Too stressful and I am too impatient and it takes way too much time out of my day to be glued to this forum speculating on when the phone is getting released. :D After this one... the next phone I get will be sitting on the shelf at verizon already released!! :p It will be the enV touch of the age.. but what I don't know will not hurt me. :o

To help pass the time:

The Verizon Nexus One will outsell the Incredible. Discuss.

You are not serious right? Here is my take. IF the nexus one is only sold online I can't imagine a scenario where it would outsell the Incredible.

Too many people depend on the fact that they can walk into verizon and walk out with a new replacement phone... not to mention many people still like to look at what they buy before they buy it. It isn't like a new shirt that you can order and the just return if you don't like it. For a whole lot of people that is their home phone!! The only connection with the outside world. Who wants to go back to their old phone? I think the ONLY way this could happen is if there is a huge difference in price. For some that will be a determining factor and lets face it.. anyone going from a dumb phone or even a bb either one would be an experience but I do NOT see it happening. The Incredible has too many upgrades that are very attractive. Not to mention... looks are important... and we think the incredible is way better lookin.

this will be my first Smart/android phone! In the mean time, im stuck with a POS motorola hint that stops recieving texts after there is 30 in the inbox

I also think that even the most uninformed consumers would pick the incredible over the nexus. If there is an opportunity to compare the two phones.. camera, processor, ram/rom etc... use them on the internet there will not be much that could keep them in the nexus camp. Money maybe.. but If verizon does not at the very least service the phones... hands down it will be the Incredible on top.

Trust me todays generation buys online and if they like the look of the nexus they will buy it. People who don't know how to buy online probably wouldn't know how to use a smart phone :P

One thing I dislike about the nexus is the trackball :/ - that design is so ancient and makes the nexus look a 100 years old.

I'm going to print that out and walk into a Verizon store. When they tell me their usual BS that that they've never heard of the device, I'll show them the print out. The look on their faces...

:D

That is not a page that is readily accessible through Verizon's systems, so even if someone was looking for info on the phone, they would never find that. As previously stated, the only info that appears when searching for the Incredible are the spec sheets that NKT and I have posted. Trust me when I say that anything that an employee knows about the phone, they know from the internet- Verizon has not acknowledged the existence of this phone to any extent yet- except those tweets I suppose...

All good points, but here's the other side of the coin:

  • The N1 has all the "built-in" marketing and name recognition from all the other carriers.
  • Many people have already seen the N1 in the wild (T-Mobile, AT&T), and may have played with -- and liked -- the phone. No one has played with the Incredible in the wild.
  • The Incredible "upgrades" over the N1 are not the type that really wow the average consumer.
  • Aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder. Plenty of people have mocked the contoured back of the Incredible, and surely the red accent thing won't appeal to everyone. The N1 looks extremely professional, and definitely has appeal for the suit-and-tie crowd.
  • Very, very, very few people walk into a Verizon store intending or able to spend upwards of $300 on a replacement phone. The Incredible isn't going to be a spur-of-the-moment type purchase based on someone's in-store experience.

If you're too lazy/ignorant to get out in time if you don't like the service, then you deserve to be stuck. I think it's pretty cool that you get a trial month on a carrier with no financial penalties. If Verizon did the same, they might see a lot of people realizing how good their network is and switching.

Verizon has always done the same. Its called the Worry Free Guarantee- cancel within 30 days for free

I was hoping you could verify concerning the representation that the device will, in fact, come with an 8GB moviNANDe ROM. I see now that it is listed as "confirmed" in the HTC Incredible (evergreen) forum, although don't know when or how it graduated from its earlier unconfirmed status. What do you see about this, through your resources? I missed the circumstances of the earlier reclassification.

I would appreciate anyone's clarification.

As I said, some detailed info we might not get until close to launch. And sorry, I haven't been following everything for this phone as much as you guys so what is it that you want to specifically know about the ROM? I will have to double check on the camcorder resolutions, and yeah it will but I heard that CarWash.apk was a little buggy. Look for release version 1.14b in the next few days :D

"...what is the truth about the 6/6.6/8Gb ROM?"

Processor and ram look to be equivalent. Incredible may have a better camera and more on-board storage. N1 has noise-cancellation technology. N1 has voice-input -- Incredible may or may not.

I.e., in terms of features, I think its wrong to think of the Incredible as an obvious pick. I personally think the Incredible is a better piece of hardware, but is the average consumer really going to give a darn about something called movinand? And if you have to explain it to them, you've already lost them....

Remember, the question isn't which is the better piece of tech ... its which will sell better.

even after all this time and all these carriers i have yet to see a single N1 in the wild, the reviews on the n1 so far have been so so. with the screen issues and such. Aesthetics may be a bit of a factor but remember in the latest pictures we have seen the only red on the incredible is a small sliver around the camera and the speaker grill...also remember the N1's trackball glows different colors (not exactly completely professional) and as far as price, I really doubt the incredible will be $300. i believe it might be $300 with a $100 rebate but I would be very surprised if many phones get released in this day and age above that magical $199 mark.

just my .02

sorry, after posting this and looking back, i see this is getting off topic so I will just leave it at that

This needs to be a topic of a new thread lol. While i don't really care how much this thread says on topic something like this needs its own thread.

Its more on-topic than 95% of what gets posted here. If you prefer the 8 bazillion "I spoke to my local manager" posts, feel free to scroll past the discussion that offends you. :)
