Which wireless charging pad for the DNA?

I was wondering the same thing. I really like the looks of the Nexus 4 charging orb. I wonder if the DNA will sit on this thing or if it will slide off. I read one article that said something about the Orb and the Nexus both having magnets in them which keep it in place. Somehow I doubt that and I'm guessing it's a rubbery/grippy surface. I like the angle on this, it will make for a good bedside clock. This price seems extremely inflated, but it's the only place online I've seen this thing for sale:

Hopefully cases won't block the DNA from wireless charging. I'm a phone dropper and will definitely need to case my DNA.

Man, you are not kidding. I usually dont buy bleeding edge but the no choices for cases scares me to death. New phone...lot-so bucks....drop...*insert a ton of cussing here*
 
Yeah I saw somewhere the LG one was advertized as the Verizon offered accessory. If I am not mistake though, any Qi compatible charger will work...
 
This Nokia one looks pretty nice too and with a smaller footprint than the LG one. It comes in white and black on the verizon web site but the amazon ad below shows a picture with multiple color options. It's more expensive than the LG though:

At this point, I'd be willing to pay a premium for a car dock with inductive charging. Anyone know of any?
 
I'm sorry, but I simply don't see much benefit to wireless charging. It seems like a mostly useless feature to me (at this point). How is this charging pad any different than having a USB cable? You need to have the device placed on the pad for charging purposes and need to carry the pad with you at all times. I'm assuming the pad itself needs to be connected to a power source. Why not just carry a USB cable instead?

It's a simple matter of convenience. I doubt most people will bring it with them places, it's more a thing you would have by your bed, or on your dresser, or wherever it is you normally charge your phone. When I'm traveling and will be at one place for more than couple nights I imagine I'll bring it with me in that case. I've been charging my toothbrush for YEARS wirelessly, kind baffled it's taken this long for it to get mainstream with cell phones.
 
Hmm, I don't think those are Qi certified. It appears you need a special back plate for it to work which you need to buy from them.

Thanks. It does look nice, though I don't see it looking any larger than most of the others (at least not significantly larger). I too am awaiting the Nexus 4 orb.

Yeah, maybe we have the same sonicare brush? :) Does inductive charging take longer? I'm wondering if you would still want to use a cable if you need to charge as quickly as possible?

I'm interested in this as well. Something to support hands-free/cable-free charging in the car would be very useful.

lets home the dna has a magnet on the back or else the orb wont work, it will slide off

From my boss at work who had a Palm Pixi (my only experience with pad charging) was Wall > Pad > USB. Pad and USB were very close with a large ump to wall. She went iPhone and decided it wasn't good enough to fork out for another wireless charging option.

I needed to comment here in regard to the wireless charging - I love it that the mighty DNA is one of the oh too few phones ( and kudos to HTC ) to have actually incorporated wireless charging !! It certainly addresses my anxiety about that darn small 2000 'ish mAh battery ( curse the power engineers #%@!!&% )

Coming from the TB and my I still love it Rezound - I am a battery sensitive guy. However.......surprised no comments and apparently fewer users of external battery packs. I my ownself use a New Trent IMP-100P 10000 mAh NT ....... this baby rocks!!! I carry it with a 3 ' USB cable and can keep my phone charging whenever and wherever needed ( like in the Gondola at Vail - the plane over wherever ) or just lounging around the abode. No worry about finding an outlet - the NT is about the size of the DNA ( thicker of course ) and can be carried in my coat pocket.......

Me thinks one can pick one up for less that a wireless charging pad on Amazon and with the right sale........

I would love this too but based on the size of most of the charging pads available, it will be hard for them to design something with a reasonable footprint for the dashboard. And if they do design one, it will be a reason for thieves to break into the car.

Do any of the charging pads work off of the cigarette lighter/12v DC? The ones I've seen online all show AC plugs. As to gear in the car I don't know that anyone would bother about a charging pad, but they would certainly be tempted by a phone. My inexpensive GPS is in plain view on the dash and fortunately no one has thought it worth the effort, but I would never leave my phone in the car.
