I've seen Sprint and Verizon commercials during the tourney. That's a CBS thing not a NCAA thing. Who knows???

OK, but I don't see why you'd plan a big ad campaign on other channels when everyone will be watching the network that doesn't show them?

Basically saying that they're gonna have a big release because of the NCAA championship doesn't make sense.

From a marketing / advertising standpoint, the tourny would be a perfect advertising platform. You have a large captive audience- you get bigger bang for your buck, rather than advertising on say Two and a Half men - same network, larger audience and target demographics.

It doesn't matter if ATT sponsor the NCAA, they don't control the advertising, CBS does.

Just like with the Superbowl, the telecast may be sponsored by abc company, but their competitor xyz will still adveritse, because Fox controls the ads and recieves the revenues, because they paid for the rights to air the programming - and they recieve the sponsorship dollars as well.

Yes but it updated about 10 minutes after I first turned it on so I had 2.01 for that brief period of time. The phone itself is pretty nice.

I haven't noticed any lag but I also use Advanced Task Killer every time I close out an app or task so that really helps. I also am not using live wallpapers (who cares) but the touchscreen works really well. The pinch to zoom works really good as well and the onscreen keyboard isn't half bad either.

I have Lotus Notes at work (for now) but once we go Outlook next month it will have everything I need. I am still getting the Incredible and I am prepared to return this on day 27 in order to get my NE2 and other stuff back. I am happy that I did it.

so you updated manually? or did it do it OTA automatically?

I decided to get the Droid to tide me over until the Incredible comes out and so far it's a decent device. There are plenty of things that could use a change/upgrade but until the Incredible drops it's a good enough fix for me.

if there is no word of the incredible or the nexus one by the end of this week i will be doing the same thing on saturday. i mean official word, not a photoshopped picture of someething that really means nothing.

The Dare only requires a $10 data plan, and the vcast vpak is $15 which includes access to their vcast videos and also happens to come with unlimited data. It's no longer available to add to your plan online but I just called and asked for it. This was a while ago so idunno if they still have it.

Odd, I have the Dare and I don't have a data plan. When you say it requires a data plan do you mean if you want to use data services on it?

If I hear anything about Apple's iPhone OS 4 event delaying Verizon's announcement or release of the Incredible, I will be very, very mad.

I'm sure you all can relate.

Do you think there will be a way to play Pandora from the Incredible thru the car stereo?

I would think so- I use bluetooth in my car to transmit to my car stereo but there are fm transmitters out there as well.

Get an FM modulator. Less than 20 bucks, fairly easy to install, zero static, and works with any device that has a 3.5mm jack. Works just like a pair of headphones.
I use one with my iPod touch and it works flawlessly. Only problem is there is no dock but I just rest by iPod on my lap. Plan on doing the same when I get my Incredible.

I think by AT&T being the main sponsor, they get to at least say you can't show their biggest competitors ads during the broadcast. I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing any VZW commercials on CBS during the tourney so far.

Edit: By CBS buying the broadcasting rights, I think they have to agree to respect the sponsorship agreements that the NCAA has made.

it includes unlimited text, but also unlimited web, data, etc...
$54.99 monthly allowance
Plan includes:
Unlimited Messaging
Unlimited Web Browsing
Unlimited Data Usage
Unlimited Personal Email
Voice Per Minute Rate $0.25

What plan is this? I pay alot more and don't get unlimited anything except data. My unlimited data is like $50 a month and then my voice plan is like 39.95 with 450 min then I pay $5 for 50 text messages.

I haven't been glued to the tv, but i distinctly remember a verizon bogo ad and a sprint unlimited everything ad while watching a game on cbs. Att gets to hang their signs and sponsor the pre-game/mid-game talking heads but i think cbs sells the airtime to the highest bidders.

Interesting, I thought it was one of the phones that required a $10 data plan, guess not. But yeah, my point was that I can get unlimited data without the $30 plan.

ok this is starting to drive me nuts..i feel like all the other carriers finally found out how to stick it to verizon and are constantly beating them down into the ground and all i can see is them trying to push that red 3g coverage map on us before their burried..!! you really got to hand it to these other carriers though cause their really trying to get the greatest and latest in their customers hands while verizon is like hey more droid commercials should boost sales!

i also believe that long release times due to in depth verizon testing is bogus..my env touch hasnt been out for a year until june and im on version 9 of the software from the original version 2 and its still randomly shutting down on me. no matter what verizon should do standard testing and quickly release it cause problems will always come up once its in the customers hands, and thats when its truly being "tested!"

i just wish we could all storm verizonwireless hq and tell them listen with every passing day htc incredible looses its appeal and stop keeping customers loyal customers in the dark..clock is ticking verizon!! every other carrier has good phones out or on the way and your mum on everything..congrats vzw cause this loyal guy is rapidly loosing intrest!

and thanks to everyone in the forum trying to get info and helping one another stay afloat but i think its time we arm our ninjas with some serious weapons! haha

cant wait for my htc irrelevant oops i mean incredible

Of course I got mine 20+ months ago and way back then (ancient in Cell Phone terms) the Dare was one of the 'hot' phones from Verizon. Yeah, paying an additional $30 a month for a Smartphone like the Incredible is a judgment call when you stack that up against the Sprint plans. Fortunately I get a 15% discount through work.

A side question: was there a confirmation (y/n) on whether the Inc can tether wi-fi?

I like Steven am losing my patience. Went thru the same stuff waiting on my Omnia. I hate being "stuck" with verizon.

I'm curious if any forum members go with the messaging/data-only plan for $54.99/mth on Verizon? Calls would be $.25/min, but for those that mostly text, this plan may be A LOT cheaper than going with the lowest voice plan $39.99, add data $29.99, then add text - either $5/$10/$20 depending on how many you plan on using.

Text Only Messaging Plans from Verizon Wireless

I'm considering this option when I go to The Incredible and would appreciate hearing any pro's and con's.

Thanks in advance!

I think the better option is use google voice for free texting and keep the voice/data plan. Only 15 dollars more a month and you can use your phone as a phone.
