Help Battery discussions, maintaining battery life

Teach us your ways! On meanrom4.4 I'm getting around 15hrs which is unheard of for me. I'm more than happy with that.

I probably use my phone too much though... Lol

Haha... I'm not doing anything extra. As you see I don't have my location, and 3g enabled, nor wifi. Only turn on wifi or 3g when i need to check my emails, and then off.

I've been batter testing. I haven't charged my phone for two days. I have at this moment 20% battery left.

The things I do with my phone. I use the things below on a regular basis, plus I have quite a few widgets.
  • Read books (52% of the battery went to screen)
  • Text/Check personal email
  • Search the internet (while at work)
  • FourSquare
  • Google Maps
  • Weather updates
  • Google Play music, on the way to/from work.
  • Play a few games
  • Snap Pictures/Upload

If this was my EVO 4G I wouldn't be able to go 10 hours with doing all this unless I plugged into the usb port at work.

I'm very happy with battery life and I think it's a non factor for anyone saying they would not buy this device, "because it does not have a removable battery".

There are plenty of ways around that issue. Just plug it into a usb charger on your PC at work or in your car.

Do you suppose that anyone will be crazy enough to try to get a One X +(plus) battery and try to put it in the One X or Evo 4G LTE?
I can only guess that the battery will follow the same approximate form factor and power output.

I'm interested in the experiment itself and possible changes in the new design, not the small mAh difference.
It would be fun to see

My issue is not that I can't change to a different battery, it is the fact it is non-replacable at all. I have had batteries die completely in less than a year before so.

On another note, how do you get life like that? Even when I don't use my phone it won't make it 24 hours, maybe 18-20 but it is turning itself off then.

I'm going to guess part is wifi. At work and at home I'm on wifi.

You've got to have something(s) with wakelock forcing that bad performance.

Do you have Android Beam off? If you don't use it, it sucks power for no reason.

I'm not even finding it, but I have been working all day setting up for Austin City Limits Music Festival.

just got this phone. loving it so far.

question re battery life - battery is dropping like 5-10% per hour. from what i have been reading about the battery life, i would think it should be much less. i usually keep wi-fi and bluetooth on all the time. gps is off. have 3 gmails accounts, 2 yahoos, but those are only updating every 4 hours. during the day, i am mostly using it for some texting, a few calls, but nothing very heavy. wondering if the battery is going faster than it should be based on others' more expert perspectives.

if more info is needed for a better answer i'd be happy to provide.

thx.

My battery goes down 1-2% when in standby. I keep Bluetooth off if my Bluetooth appliance is not on and near the phone. I also use "AutoWiFi Enabler" which automatically switches to 3G when out of range of a known WiFi signal and back to WiFi when appropriate.

it is my understanding that a phone will continuously look for a WiFi signal and/or Bluetooth unit if it does not find a signal on which to lock - thus use much battery juice.

thanks, that app seems to be off the market. i would like one that is easy on the phone, doesn't do too much. used some of those before, when i had the evo 3d, found they either didn't work well, or used too much juice.

if it is dropping...that much.. WHILE IN SLEEP MODE..then yes.. you have issues.
most likely a bad app or something is not letting your phone fully sleep.

try some of the battery monitoring apps mentioned earlier. see which app is causing the problem.

or you are using the phone a lot...

or your phone needs to be fully rest and start fresh again.

great, thanks. will check it out. haven't really added much as far as apps, and i was seeing much better life the first few days i had it.

any good recommends on a wifi management app? don't want something heavy like juice defender. only want one to auto turn on when in range and shut off when not.

thx

seems the attachment didn't go thru the first time, here's another go.

The iphone has a cult following--a fanatical defense of the iphone from any criticism, and a craving idolatry of all things Apple.

The Android phones did not have this cult nuttiness, at first. Now it seems that any reasonable criticism is simply not acceptable. Oh well, reasonableness was good while it lasted.

Now, to the point. The lack of a replaceable battery is definitely a shortcoming of this phone. My Evo 4G battery issue was readily solved by a 3500 mah battery that I could swap out, allowing heavy usage and total mobility from early morning to late evening. Not so with the LTE.

HTC is not stupid, so I am hopeful that the next iteration of this fine device will have a replaceable battery.

My LTE is a work phone, as was my 4G--work busy from 7AM to 6PM, then my personal phone from 6PM to midnight. This can only be done if I take advantage of every opportunity to charge it throughout the day. Thus, it is less reliable and less mobile than my old Evo 4G with the 3500 mah battery.

I imagine this will result in an iphone-cult like response. Oh well.

You probably already know this, and it doesn't do much good if you use a lot of data, but it does if your main concern is the phone for communication.

If I'm in a low signal area with no WiFi and I'm not really using it for data, turning off the mobile network saves a ton of juice. Also, turning off the GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi. I've had my battery last over 40 hours using this technique, and turning on the various radios as needed.

It occurs to me that more phones are coming with a non-replaceable battery these days.
