How fragile are SIM cards?

I have not dropped, banged, bopped or clunked my phone. Its not even seven days old. I am beginning to wonder if the SIM card is junk?

I keep getting no SIM card installed error icon at the top of the screen and it requires a reboot to make it go away. At the same time, I lose all my data/cell radio signal. Its done it three times today.

Also when I try to connect to my car's blue tooth, if I download contacts, it crashed the blue tooth app on the phone with an error message.

I am going to go Monday to get a new one but am curious if maybe I should ask for a phone swap.

Take it in to a Verizon store to have the Sim replaced. It is a known issue on DNA's with the pre installed Sim cards going bad. Haven't seen any issues after I had mine replaced.....

Been having this problem off and on. Today it said 'puk is locked'

Called 611 (on different phone) and csr said my device Id was in system wrong. I pulled tray and tech did something on his end and all is better

Cincy, just fyi, if it does it again just toggle airplane mode on, then off. It's quicker than a reboot and should do the trick till you get a permanent solution

Yes I am going to go get a new SIM today. However I am also noticing that the phone has dramatically slowed down in the last 24 hours. So I am going to notate that and get a replacement on standby.

Wish they didn't go to SIM cards. Its just another PoF.

Thanks for the Airplane mode suggestion. That helps a LOT!

I reseated it, but the first reboot still gave me a sim error, but it went away. So I think I am just going to get another one.

Have a new one after a fiasco that required numerous calls into the "help desk". Could not just use the system because first of all did not list my current SIM card and second would not allow a new one to be associated with it.

Phone is flat out quick now. Was before, but took time to do things here and there. Not anymore. Still not a fan of SIM cards..but it is what it is.

Yeah I'm dealing with the same thing, looks like it's an epidemic. Reseating it worked for me, at least for the day. A little worried though because since that works it means it could be a hardware issue ie problem with the tray design.

I don't think it's a tray issue. For the most part everyone who has had the original sim replaced has not had any problems. The prevailing school of thought here is that the DNA is one of only a few phones that come boxed with a pre-installed sim from the manufacturer. And that those sims have a flaw.

That and mine was all messed up from a registration standpoint. Antimony, you might want to go get a new one anyway. I would be curious if it does not allow a simple computer screen change.
