***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

If this apple + Verizon, announcment might be tomorrow. Does anyone else think their might be a push to release the incredible a lil ahead of schedule.

Because the average VZW consumer is more interested in the Iphone than anything, hopefully dumping the incredible earlier will reach more of the in-between audience and sell them a few more phones?

Because, i can admit to being one of the iPhone-Aholics before I started reading up on android back in [Edit: October], and ever since then i can never see myself getting such a lockdown ecosystem phone. So im android all the way, so hopefully apple announces something and forces VZW's hand in releasing our BELOVED incredible.

This thread has gotten ridiculous. Many of the regulars post junk posts completely unrelated to phones all day, and whenever anyone says "could we hold off on some of the junk posts?" they all reply with one of the following:


  • "No one's forcing you to read this, and we won't miss you when you leave."
  • "The text on the first page says we can post anything we want. *but you can't."
  • "Just ignore this guy, omg don't feed the trolls."

WTF guys, seriously. I don't consider myself an immature person but from where I sit there are a load of hypocritical folks here getting away with whatever they want because they've got "forum popularity". It's ridiculous.

Could we all just get off the "popularity train" for a few seconds and recognize that 1000+ meaningless posts does not make one user any more important than the next? If the most popular guy on the forum calls someone a f***er (or similar), hey, no problem. Everyone likes him. But if another guy comes in and states his opinion about fake images and says "don't be douches about it" or something like that, he gets banned? Hey, he seemed annoying to me too, but at the same time it seems pretty darn hypocritical.

Second point: what's the deal with all the info being withheld lately? Like one story "has been known since 3/25" but not shared until now, except of course via PM with some of the "thread's favorite users". Or another user who is commonly respected for giving good advice constantly dangles carrots out there to everyone like "I know a bunch of stuff...maybe I'll tell you later." Seriously? Just keep your mouth shut if you don't want to tell us, then tell us when you're ready. What are we in 4th grade? "nanananananaaaaaaa I know somethinggggg you donnnnnn't...." I thought we were all here for a common goal of sharing information about this rad phone?

Finally, enough with the unnecessary thanks. There are some users on here who could post basically anything in the world and it would get 40 helpful votes just because it's from them. "It's coming soon guys!" = 40+ helpful votes? I don't care who it's from, that's not any more helpful than what we knew back in like November when we first heard about the phone. The same post I mentioned previously ("I have information, I will tell you later") gets like 40 thanks as well. Why? Maybe we could save some of those thanks for the posts with the actual information, which would help some folks (like myself, who often skim pages for thanks due to all the off-topic bullcrap) actually find posts with the useful bits.

Ok, all of that said, I'm crossing my fingers for this phone just like the rest of you. Despite my personal issues with the thread, I'll still be here lurking and waiting...

AMEN. that crap has been goin on for a while. say somethin taht the a regular disagrees with and bam u got all of his regular friends jumpin on you. your post couldnt be more spot on if you tried.

you forgot to add another point. anyone else says somethin that the regulars dont like they automatically start callin you a troll despite making excellent points.

It can make you a god for 15 minutes. If that's all you want, that 15 minutes of fame, go for it. Because then you become the devil.
 
Ok this is off topic but I just finished watching this vid and its very entertaining, so I wanted to share. It's a special from the British series Top Gear. It's a show about Cars but this is a special episode shot in Vietnam on BIKES...and ironically it's my favorite episode. It's hilarious. You WILL like it, trust me. :D

Unless, according to conspiracy theory... VZW is in bed with Apple, and they wouldn't want to do anything to upset the possibility of getting the iPhone...

From what I have read(not 1st hand info) I would say this has not effect because the incredible is coming out within 2 months, at earliest the iPHONE will be here in nov or dec at the EARLIEST(according to the LTE timeline, if the phone is 3g then all bets are off). Smart phones nowadays have a shelf life of about 6 months to a year depending on the fanatic...

Agreed. If there is a problem with the system its how much you can get away with if you have a bunch of "thanks" under your name, deserved or not.

Sarcasm is INCREDIBLE on the forums sometimes it goes completely missed...typing sometimes cant convey the real meaning sorry, I should have added quotes to the "god" part of my statement...

I hope that this has helped ease your anger..... We all are here for information but when the info is slow for days it gets a lil boring and things get off topic. This happens with all threads to an extent, this one included. As for me I enjoy it as it helps pass the time. Also this thread is on death row as it will be locked as soon as the Incredible is released.:mad: I hope this helps as this is my take on things.....

On Incredible news...I keep checking systems at Best Buy to see if there is any indication and I'm not seeing anything. We're in a transition of VZW reps at my store so thats tough...Speaking on what someone's story was earlier about a BBY Mobile Manager knowing the Incredible is being released on the 25th...I gotta call BS on that. SM's have no idea when anything new comes out. Our VZW reps barely know anything, they were still calling the droid the sholes up until 3 days before release. So I'm a bit skeptical of this story...I would quote it but its lost in this clusterf**k of a thread.

Sure, totally. My point was NOT that I am ungrateful for good tips or the work that may go into providing them. I DO appreciate it, that's why I'm here, despite having to wade through lots of other stuff.

Blackout has done a fantastic job of wading through all this mess and has summarized everything up. Goes by day, and all you have to do is look at the first post.

I'm not saying "if you don't like it get out" ... I'm just saying, it is DEFINITELY easier to go there to get the play-by-play of the "good" stuff, and then come here for the friendly banter.
 
I went into the local Costco tonight and was asking the clerk about the incredible. He said it is a really cool phone that will knock the socks off of the Iphone. I asked him when it would come out and he said about a month. I told him my NE2 was up in Feb. and then he said "I'm not suppose to say anything but it will be out on April 25th." I told him I had heard the 29th and he said that they were told they would receive them earlier. Asked for my number and he will call me when they receive them. When I was leaving, he said "maybe as early as the end of next week:!

I hope he is right.

We talked of the other Android phones, but he agreed I should just wait a little bit more for the Incredible. I'm sure he doesn't know more than we do here, but at least he didn't do the 'Incredible what?' thing. :)

In the end I decided to try to keep swapping her battery with mine, since mine will charge. I'd feel bad buying a phone just to return it later. Although if her phone goes out totally I might have to move to desperate measures.

I have a razr2 that you can use if you want the screen is a lil off center but you are more than welcome to borrow it till the Incredible comes out. u pay shipping. it is an alltel phone so you might want to ask your verizon guy if they will hook it up, I am on a alltel curve on verizon right now. Let me know I will take it with me just in case (out of town till Monday)

I thought that pic was completely photoshopped until I just logged into my work email here from home. Its cheesy and weird and stupid, but it is also 100% LEGIT.. It was sent to all employees- no other info whatsoever, just the pic..
