Root [CDMA] [ROM] - Evo 3D CDMA - PAC [OFFICIAL]

I would start with the free version first, you can always upgrade later, as for the 2 recoveries, most Roms work better with 4EXT rather then the TWRP or CWM. Much more user friendly and as Brian mentioned has the S-On flash feature which is pretty neat. Also as much you can, I would recommend when going into recovery, that you do so the manual way and not from within the 4EXT app itself. You can download an app called Quickboot, that will allow you to get into recovery or bootloader at a click without having to put the wear and tear on the power and volume buttons.

thank you, could I flash it through terminal emulator?

I don't know about this... I have never tried or heard of anyone flashing that way. I think you need to flash through fastboot. Alternatively if you are s-off you can flash the PG86IMG.zip version through the bootloader.

at some point (perhaps couple to few months ago i believe), right around when sprint released an ota (which i never did anything about), i thought i saw some rom's floating around around that stated in the op that the rom required a certain build number before it could be flashed. i didn't have time to learn what that meant, and just stuck w/ good ol' CleanROM. Now i finally had a bit 'o' time to try a contemporary rom out, and wasn't sure if I needed to do anything regarding firmware before i did; that maybe dev's now assume everyone had updated by now, which I never did.

too, all of this is based a on my, perhaps false, understanding that the "build" number is the "firmware" revision, which i thought might be separate from the rom itself.

thanks!

You are correct about the build number and yes some roms require certain builds/hboots which you can easily switch between if you are s-off

Lol this is a forum (a place of discussion) there's no thing as too many questions! No worries man! :)

You will notice a huge difference between twrp 1.1.1 and 4ext. One major difference is that 4EXT is touch screen capable. No more volume and power buttons to navigate. Twrp has a touch Recovery now that I haven't tried but with our phone, 4ext seems to be the most reliable. Every one who switches instantly falls in love with 4ext. Plus it has an optional paid app that comes in very handy. You won't regret switching.

One of its largest benefits is for s-on users. It has a feature called smart flash that let's s-on users flash roms that would cause bootloop on other recoveries.

thank you sooo much! everything went through perfect.
and im already liking 4ext. so much easier n better

thanks again d=):D

OK, I just flashed yesterday, here is what I have in my phone:
- signal reception seems not too good, when I used d3rp ROM, it was better. I'm gonna play around for a few days and see what happens.
- WiFi tether force close when I start tethering. Maybe I'll try the fix as mentioned in the above post.
- Camera works fine, I tried taking video for a few second, and it worked!
- So far no random reboot here.

Overall it is a great ROM, maybe the best JB I've tried. Thanks to CMB for his great work.!!

CMB, tried BT and worked everytime, so far, the only issue is it is still turning the toggle sound to vibrate, so it turns sound off. If you need logcat let me know.

Don, I don't know if this might help, but have you tried go to Settings - ROM Control - Sound?
It has Bluetooth A2DP connected action, which has the setting to turn phone to vibrate when connected to A2DP. Mine was set to take no action by default.

Wow, this Rom is amazing works flawlessly with 1.50.5050 Juopunutbear.
I could see why this Rom is famous with a lot of people.
Haven't run into any problem with this Rom.
This Rom is sick!!!!

I appreciated devs hard work.
Thanks, cmbaughman :):):):)

I will have to check that to see, once of course I flash this Rom again, lol right now I have been dealing with my main PC and BSOD, I have reformatted and still having issues, ticks me off as this PC is not that old and I really don't want to have to buy a new PC with windows 8 :(

Yeah, I know how you feel. Sometimes I wish that I can do a quick fix with my laptop as I do with my phone.. lol

There was a fix over at XDA, can't remember what, but maybe scroll though the pages there, I know I saw it.

Can anyone get wifi tether to work? I always get force close when I turn it on...

Yes, there is a guide in the post above. It says that I should uninstall the Wifi Tether application first before installing a new fix version.

But the problem is, I don't know how to uninstall it. In the Settings-Application there isn't an option to uninstall it (only to disable it). I've tried also using Titanium and Rom Toolbox, but the application just isn't there to uninstall.

Hi, I know this is not on subject but I can't find anything on my problem anywhere...if you know the answer or know where I can find it please instruct me, here it is:

I've tried a few JB Roms and they will not let me get into "diag. mode"(##3424#) or any other (## function). Is there an alternate route or a fix or is it not available right now?

Always make a back-up from the stock Rom if you have any problems.

You can only use those dial commands on a sense based rom.

They won't work on aosp I do know and I believe miui won't work as well.

You'll need to flash on a sense Rom to get those commands working.

Don - Make a USB Boot Stick using Lili USB creator.
Boot Ubuntu 12.10 - Play then install - you will NEVER go back.

Also - ReFlashed this last night. The random reboots are GONE! WOOT
This is running about 1 Degree warmer then AOKP - but I love the ROM so its Worth it!

Changed Gov from Stock LagFree to Ondemand - CPU was sticking at Max. This fixed it.

I believe I switched to Linux mint 14 back in October or beginning of November haven't looked back since mint is based off Ubuntu its a win

That is fine, but my issue is hardware related. Either graphic card, motherboard, or faulty Ram

If its the motherboard you are better off getting a new computer than trying to fix it you can always get whatever is needed off the hard drive. I killed two laptops by frying the motherboard lol I blocked the fans so laptop had to work overtime I guess. Back on topic I changed gov to on demand and got 3 reboots in the span of 5 mins I went back to lag free and I'm all good. No log cats.

There is a great example how we tell members that same phone but phones are different for each. What works for one does not for another.

Here is an update from CMB, glad I waited, LOL

I hope no one else is having that weird kernel tuner issue. I am pretty sure it won't happen on my newest build. I am going to run my latest till tomorrow am and I'll upload then. I'll tell you I've added a ton of code on this one to resolve some issues and add some other awesome stuff. I also built in a small pacman game just for fun, I also included some performance enhancements that I won't even go through yet as I'd rather wait until folks begin commenting. Anyway I'll have it up in about 12 hours. And I can assure you I've fixed wifitether to work wonderfully. with TrevE's code I discovered that when installed in system I had to move a lib around and now it will work. Reason it worked if you uninstalled and reinstalled was because then the installer would put everything in the right place basically.

Oh and yes I am actually working on (right now) creating a full on GSM build for all of our GSM friends that also have a 3vo. I will probably ask for testers this weekend more than likely. I hope you all enjoy it.

After this release I'll get gsm out there and try to tweak my server so that I can build both every time, also I will work on the remaining issues as well as integrating aroma and some other joints for full customization, which is one of my main goals. I'll be back in a few hours.

Please post any logcats for issues you'd like me to resolve I may not get to post everyday because my job is quite demanding as well as my family, but I can assure you I stop in every day. And as usual thank you all for your continued support! And ramjet you rock!
